It appeared a few hours ago, on the pages of 4chan and Reddit, what seems to be two fairly substantial leaks from a recent meeting between Sony and Naughty Dog.

The first concerning The Last of Us Part 2.
And more precisely what appears to be his official release date.
[May 22. 2020]

And the second, which seems to be more curious, is the leak of the new IP by Naughty Dog.
(which seems to be, an action game in first person)
From the code name "Stray's cross".

May doesn’t sound too bad, less than a year away, not too excited about that other project though. Hopefully more info will slowly come out around the time TLOU2 releases.

May? Game has been in development forever from what it feels like. I think Jan-mar is reasonable.

That's how it is nowadays. You wanna have long development cycles if you wanna talk about stellar and unbelievably great games, and not some rushed half-assed job.
AAA titles require at least 3-4 years of development cycle. The game was announced back in 2016. So there you have it.

Testsuya Nomura games usually have a 5+ year development cycle (see Kingdom Hearts III and FF7Remake)

May 22nd is actually a few weeks earlier than I was expecting but it's not official yet and I'll stick with my June 12th, 2020 release date. Highly doubt that Sony will announce the release date before Death Stranding releases and not expecting an announcement until early 2020.

Of course, im also sticking with my prediction that Ghost of Tsushima will release in February 2020 and can see this game getting announced before Death Stranding but not TLOUP2.

This is a more believable leak because people in the industry do actually talk like this. It's never details about wanted features, its just elevator pitches.

"Originally the main team of Naughty Dog wanted to aim for release the game for winter 2020, rather than for spring 2020.
However, the title still needed some more time to further improve the quality..."

So, originally the team wanted to release in Winter of 2020, but the game needed more time to improve the quality.... so it's releasing earlier than they wanted?
Ignoring the English-as-a-second-language phrasing, this doesn't seem to make much sense. Am I reading this correctly?

Day 1, naturally. And not a bad time overall.

As for their next project, I am all over a ND game with a steampunk setting. The story beats are so general right now that I'll reserve judgment for later.

Eh the bulk of winter is in the beginning of the year.

I think they meant 2019...

That makes more sense.

Early portions of the year are often referred to as "winter", not just within marketing.

Otherwise what season would you label Jan to March? They don't suddenly cease to exist.

They probably wanted Feb 22, 2020, which is winter.

I could believe this. Sounds translated and descriptions read like high level synopsis that would be given to marketing people.

Only curve ball is showing a nextgen title to them at the same time. Unless they plan to release both details at same time. Maybe during PS5 reveal? But autumn seems too soon for that.

Call me skeptic, but with all the animation technology that ND has invested in their games and the philosophy of developing their games on top of what they have already learned i find it hard to believe that they would somehow go for a first person game after TLoU2. Their animations while playing, how they blend an contextually change are still ahead of every other game even if Uncharted 4 is pretty old at this point.

More likely than not is fake, hopefully.

FPSs can have contextual animations, too. Just from a first person perspective. You also have all of the other characters and world you need to animate. Instead of being ahead of every other third person game, their next game will just set a new standard for first person, instead.

This game is in development since 2014.
That's 6 years.
Until it doesn't release this year, it WILL RELEASE THIS YEAR.

It's not releasing this year. They already have Death Stranding as their big holiday title. Putting out another AAA game like this in an already overstacked winter is totally unnecessary.

Doesn't matter how long it's been in development, there's no point releasing it a few months early "just because it's ready". Better to wait, polish, and get it out when there's little competition.

Wow, that's quite some wait.

Stray's Cross sounds terrible, but of course it's way too early to tell.

Yeah it does sound hot garbage by the sound of it but i trust Naughty Dog so will be there day one regardless.
I still wish they did Savage Starlight though.

Didn't Ellie's voice actor let the cat out of the bag and say that it is going to release on "Feb". And leak from 4chan?? Really??

May is fine, I just think the game has been announced way too early, should've been 2018 E3 maybe.
