In the twenty years after Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, America and much of the world is liberated from Nazi control and B.J. Blazkowicz and his wife Anya are able to raise their twin daughters Jessica and Sophia and teach them how to defend themselves. However, in 1980, Blazkowicz mysteriously disappears without a trace. Jessica, Sophia, and their friend Abby, Grace Walker's daughter, discover a hidden room in the attic with a map indicating Blazkowicz traveled to Nazi occupied Neu-Paris to meet the French Resistance. Believing that American authorities will not follow Blazkowicz to Nazi France, the girls steal an FBI helicopter and a pair of powered armor suits and head for France. [SOURCE: WIKIPEDIA]

Enemies respawn time in this game is fucking absurd. We just wiped a location, went inside, came out and they respawn?! Bollocks

Bethesda are reaching record levels of horrible this gen. They're not quite on the level of EA or Acti with their anti-consumer practices, but they are getting close with their shitty games.

I just finished playing the first couple of missions and am having a lot of fun. I actually like the progression systems they have put in place and the sisters personalities are super fun so far. Something about the game and its mission structure remind me a lot of Wolfenstein 2009, which I immensely enjoyed at the time.

why is the user score so low?

I'm guessing it's a combination of troglodytes hating on the female protagonists as well as people who hate the change in direction for the progression system and probably some FUD about microtransactions thrown in there.

The game feels a bit budget, but for the $25 I paid, it's been a ton of fun.

I said this in the review thread but the enemy respawn system is absolute shit. It gets even worse. The only time the game saves is at the start of the map loading. If you and your partner die completely aka your lives get depleted, you start at the end of the map and some of the main story levels took us an hour to go through only to die at the end of the map at the boss, because we were playing on hardest difficulty and the game said FUCK YOU go back at the start, wasting an hour or so of our lives. We literally rage quitted and I'm not if we're going to bother anymore. I did not want to believe Steam users but this is absolute trash tier design. The levels and missions are also one of the worst things i've seen. Imagine playing Borderlands 2 in a linear environment with loadings and having to go back sections of levels back and forth over and over just to kill 1 guy. How did this pass QA?

Just glancing at mc user scores, maybe 1/10 are misogynistic screeds, the rest reference genuine design elements that those looking for a straight 1990s/2000 fps single player game wont like. Those wanting coop + loot + mtx + enforced rpg mechanics look on this game favourably.

I am still going to pass because my headcanon BJ
died at the end of NO, and yes there were some tears during that brilliant song
. It would take a really special Wolf game to make me want to change that. This doesn't look special.

I started the game solo on X, no way it's a 3/10 game. Some people need to stop sniffing glue. I'm enjoying myself, it's not a masterpiece or anything but for those who enjoyed the previous Wolfenstein games from Machine Games as I did, they probably like this one too plus we can feel the Arkane touch which is nice.

I hear the game isn't great though I'm wondering if it's not being review bombed because of "TEH SJW AGENDA!!!".

Read some of the user reviews for yourself, steam has some good ones.

Putting everything else aside, seeing ‘buy gold bars’ be one of the purchase entries on steam page is a little sad.

Hum, I dunno, man. Searching for "SJW" on the user review page gives quite a few results...

Yeah, 1 in 10 mc are anti-sjw ranters who prolly haven't played it. like i said, head over to steam, you get to see hours played so you know at least they are customers.

I gotta say I'm not a big fan of the the RPG mechanics. I like leveling up my guy, but as a result of these new mechanics, the enemies become huge bullet sponges. The game also suffers the same exact problems of Wolf2 in that it'll have a very strange difficulty curve. Enemies will be challenging and then all of a sudden you'll get one hit killed. Also, I don't really like having to switch back and forth between different weapon types depending on the enemy. Can make a bullet sponge even more spongier.

Another medicore game from bethesda. I played a couple hours at my brothers, and average titles like this are completely pointless when there are dozens, if not hundreds of better games ive yet to play from past and present. My advice for an interested buyer in this game is, go buy a better game.

Not that many coop games with Wolfensteins combat though. That was supposed to be the good thing about the game, and it kinda is, but sadly everything else just ruins all the good it does. This was clearly some form of test game.

What is it with Bethesda's game lately and their short main storylines? Rage 2 had an abysmal main story, same situation here. It's like what, 7 missions? And of course you can't do them straight away, start grinding first.

JFC why did they make BJ's daughters so obnoxious? They act like fucking retarded frat boys.

If I hear "Hell Yeah Dude!" one more time when a Nazi dies I might implode. I would have expected BJ's daughters to be more disciplined than this.
Um what? They act like modern women sweetie. We all drink beer, fart in front of everybody and watch football.

Maybe the game started out featuring BJ's sons, but it wasn't woke enough and they changed the genders at the last minute. ;)

Played the first mission yesterday with my brother and thought it was pretty fun. I didn't really pay much attention to the story but the gameplay is good.

Like New Colossus, the base gunplay and movement is good, but is let down by uninspired level design, and braindead enemy encounters, Some sections feel like there was no thought put into some of them at all.

Idk, but these two act like twitch streamers who took a break from fortnite to kill nazis. It's not that I'd expect them to be exactly as reserved and disciplined as BJ, they have to have their own personalities. They just act soooooo different from what I'd expect someone who was raised by Anya and BJ would behave. They treat the fight against facism like some kind of twisted murder game. They come off as more psychopathic than BJ ever did at his most bloodthirsty moments, except they don't know how to turn it off.

There was a grim bleakness to The New Order that's almost all gone in favor of this weird kind of campyness.

Same and same!
My Friend came over with his PS4 on Saturday and we played all day long, Sunday we played online - 14h so far. And it's fun! The weapons, abilities and gunplay are great. The story is boring so far, but I didn't have a lot of expectations for a 30€ co-op shooter. Biggest downer for me is the backtracking back to locations, you were like an hour ago. But still, it's necessary, if you're like me and want to collect everything.
And true, I had a big headache after the first 10hour session, my eyes were hurting, too. I don't know how the game does this, but it does hurt your brain.
But still, fun game.

Its a fun game. Nothing to take seriously. The gunplay is good and the girls sound like dorks. They're young, so its expected. The game feels better than what I'm seeing from reviews. The reviews make it seem worse than it actually is. For the price of admission, I'm getting my money's worth. I'm not playing long sessions of it, couple hours at a time. The gunplay is satisfying, jumping into a window is satisfying, but that type of 'run and gun' is also repetitious. I'm also not going to play this co-op. So you'd think it would suck a lot more for me? But it doesn't. I turn it off or switch games when I get my FPS fix. I get my enjoyment from running down a hallway blasting my shotgun, mowing down nazis. If I wanted the full campaign experience I'd play another Wolfenstein. So far its been a pretty good game. It isn't the Mona LIsa of Wolfenstein games, but the gunplay is awesome.

I'm uncertain about getting it because I got all the DLC for The new Colossus that I ended up never finishing because it was too much like the main game. I would be more likely to get it if it had a lot more silly cutscenes but I read they front load like 10 minutes of them then have barely anything for most of the game (?) I'm also thinking back to Far Cry Blood Dragon which seemed good in theory but gameplay was far too much like Far Cry 3

Metacritic User Reviews have always been shite at understanding if a game is good. Brigading happens often.

I have watched some gameplay, played the trial, and done some co-op with my dad via the pass thing they have. The game's shooting certainly feels better, but it also feels like an expansion that just put some bandages on the core issues of TNC. The game currently sits around a 6-7/10 for me, but I also haven't finished it.

Don't. It is a travesty to the previous games and it's far from being insane/funny. The characters themselves are repetitive as hell and you'll want to punch yourself in the ear after hearing "HELL YEAH DUDE" for the 100th time. This is not a game. This is a just a test. It is cheaply made, rushed, and makes no sense. No patch can fix the core design which is a chore.

Yes, but Steam's score isn't as bad. It's currently at "mixed". I was addressing the metacritic user score some people in this thread were pointing out and why it's invalid because it's full of people crying about SJWs. Seems I'm sort of right; it's getting review bombed on metacritics.

A lot of the review-bombing seems to be a backlash against the game incorporating lootershooter elements, some P2W mechanics, etc

They patched the game so you can't use cheat engine to get gold bars/coins/or whatever ppl where using it for to buy the skins assuming this post is real:

Is this the future for Machine Games and Arkane? Is id software the last devs handled by the scum of the earth Bethesda that are still doing good for the fans or will the new Doom and future Dooms get worse and worse? Glad to see where Machine Game's priorities are now. Fuck them.

Update 1.0.5 Preview

Addresses various game difficulty and progression issues based on feedback:
  • Additional checkpoints
  • Difficulty adjustments across the board, especially in boss fights
  • Addressing the feeling some players have expressed that some enemies feel like “bullet sponges”
  • Adding additional ammo throughout the game
  • An option to toggle enemy health bars on/off

Awesome, will start playing this again when this patch drops. Right now it feels like Borderstein... or Wolfenlands :pie_thinking:
