Interesting review



Pros:

Improved battery life
No real performance improvement
Better build quality on the joy-cons

Cons:
Its not the Pro we were hoping for
Overall I would say it’s a pretty significant revision , what do you guys think?

Interesting. Better battery life would be a godsend in some games.

He says about maybe a 10% performance advantage , now there’s no way for sure until a place like Digital Foundry does a in-depth analysis but when he was playing Doom he said if felt smoother and there were less drops in resolution and frame rates making the game more stable.

Still is worth a try. Xbox case was similar. A 1~5% perfomance increase and they really could put the battery at test.
I mean, Rich even risk his nintendo account for overclock his NS.

Basically the box is different,look at post # 14 from Ulysses 31 above.Not sure if it’s out everywhere yet but this guy got his hands on one. You’ll have to check your local retailers in person to be sure.

Whoa, he's saying playing Zelda BOTW at maximum brightness and volume is doing 6 hours.

The Switch has a 4310mah 15.9 watt hour battery , that means it;s doing 2.65 watts per hour.
That would be a 240% increase in power efficiency if true.
TSMC states that 16nm/12nm is 60% more efficient than 20nm, and 10nm is 35% more efficient than 16nm/12nm. and
7nm (non-EUV) is 40% more efficient than 10nm.
So it has to be on 7nm if he's right about the six hours.

Yeah the framreate on doom looked more stable. Definitely seems like there is a slight per boost, lile from Xbox One to Xbox One S

It definitely isn't 7nm see this thread : https://www.neogaf.com/threads/switch-lite-internals-photographed-at-fcc-hello-mariko.1495936 - probably 16nm

Those 16/12nm figures will be best case. But there can be less battery drain due to the slightly smaller screen.

Also Nintendo nerfed the battery it's now 3.8V 3570mAh 13.6Wh (85% of original). [edit - I'm a dummy that's the lite]

I'd guess the guy just fluffed the tests .. :| Mmh with smaller battery and 60% reduced power it could be about right for 16nm, except the CPU is only a fraction of the power draw..

that these are starting to show up in stores in the United States.

So here it is again for those of you looking today as well: Bright red packaging(no white background the OG Switch box had)

Next up, Gamestop.

Gamestop: "Hi, I was wondering if you have the new Nintendo Switch revision model that has a better battery life and different
packaging?"

Gamestop employee: "Oh you mean the Switch Pro? Yeah that's not even out yet".

Me: "Well it's not a Switch Pro but it has an updated motherboard and better battery life. Nintendo has started shipping them,
they are out in the wild."

Gamestop employee: "No, those haven't shipped yet. They don't come out until after the Switch Lite model next month. It's supposed to
come out after that!"

It hit me then that this is a major part of the reason Gamestop is going under. CLUELESS employees.

Me: "Ok, have a nice one, it's out in the wild though!"

Oh well. Not today!

Did anyone over 25 yo really expect a pro version already? Not mockingly just.... Nintendo has barely started taking online serious, who thought theyd be on board for a niche hardware? Thats not their game.
