But in this case, this Sophia chick should have known better even if she thought ESA pulled the info and she posted after it was pulled.
I don't know if that is truly the sequence of what happened.
But turns out people figured out the URL (or she posted it?) and used Wayback Machine Archives to find it. I don't know how Wayback works (if they will willingly delete sensitive archived snapshots if requested?), but she should know links can be archived by Wayback. And since the excel link is still active, it looks like Wayback doesn't give a shit about deleting archived data.
Even if it is true (as she says) that all the ESA leaked info was already out there by the time she talked about it, she should have a responsibility to not egg it on.
Only reason it caught big news is because she did a video about it. Now every forum is talking about it and even Yahoo Finance did an article today. If she didn't blab about it, the average gamer and news site would have never known.

It was out there before she reported it. That’s a fact. And if it wasn’t her that reported it, it would have been somebody else the same day. Jason and Kotaku are just upset they didn’t report on it first and spin in the way they wanted.

It's standard reporting, even for security bugs. People find the bugs, report them to vendor. Vendor chooses to publish patch (or not). Security experts release the vulnerability. People have to patch their machines (or) company is shamed into actually getting of their arse and coding a fix. In this event, the information was already in the 'wild' just not 'public', though the definition is fast and loose these days. People were already sharing the link and the file.
The fix was for the site to remove the excel file when it was reported in February (or even rename it) . Then the link would have been broken. As it is, they 'hid' the URL, but left the file. So anyone with the link address could still actively link it. So when you viewed it in an archive the old link still worked. It was lazy and incompetent as a 'fix'.
She also had legitimate sources and proof that this was also in some very dodgy hands. So yes, they might get some dodgy prank calls from a larger leak base, but it's better than discovering several credit application approvals in twelve to eighteen months (or worse), or have their peripheral online accounts brute forced because login emails were discovered.

CLearly you didn't read her work then. She doesn't do that, but accurately quotes experts and sources for the vast majority of her work - even her 'opinion' pieces. She also rarely pushes her own political opinion in any of her work.

Adam Sessler was a super sad thing to see. Prior to my deletion of Twitter, I had tweeted him after he insulted all of Colin's audience. Just super petty and childish shit, but he insulted me and then blocked me. Used to look up to the guy as a teen when I watched Tech TV and G4 everyday after school. Dude went full TDS.

At Evo 2019, Arc System Works just unveiled a teaser for a brand new Guilty Geargame, to be released some time next year for unannounced platforms. This would be the newest entry since Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2 in 2017. What makes this game especially noteworthy though is that it continues the hyper-beautiful and engaging art style of Dragon Ball FighterZ (which in turn took from Xrd Rev 2), making it an all-around visual feast. Check out the reveal trailer.
Currently, Nintendo Switch owners can play the original game and XX Accent Core Plus R on the console. Since Switch owners also of course have access to Dragon Ball FighterZ, it stands to reason that this game will make its way to Switch too sooner or later.
To be honest, I know virtually nothing about Guilty Gear or most Arc System Works games, but I know that fans of these games have every reason in the world to be hyped right now. Some fans were actually hoping for the reveal of a Persona 5 Arenatonight, but I think what we’ve gotten instead is a more-than-fair replacement.
To close out Evo 2019 tonight is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and if Nintendo happens to drop any news bombs, stay tuned for updates from Nintendo Enthusiast!

I have a ton of old EGM mags, and the stories and coverage was much more professional than what is presented as 'gaming' news today.
Maybe because it was print media? And it still had to pass the scrutiny of an editorial board?

The typical modern day internet blogger or YT cusser trying to put that down on paper would never fly unless it was plunked in the top rack with the Penthouse mags.
People talk a lot different than write. And good writing takes time.
The net is all about who can get hits the fastest, so best way is uploading quickly written articles or a video of self commentary.

To be fair, I don't think all gaming youtubers are trash. Some of them actually do good work to keep me informed. Like Yongyea (pedantic as he is), SkillUp, LegacyKillaHD and the EasyAllies boys.
I've not frequented games new sites in recent years, not even EGM's online site. But judging from gamer's reactions I think it's good I give these sites a wide berth. Kotaku and Polygon are a joke and I've never even looked at Waypoint. Schreier, Patrick Klepek and Nathan Grayson are all embarrassing examples of 'gaming journalism'.
I really miss gaming mags though.

I'll give him credit in that he at least played on the hard difficulty. Which for these old school shooters it's really the default mode (like Ultra-Violence for doom, Come Get Some for Duke and You want some Wang for SW) but whatever. At least he didn't cuck out. Not to mention the entire build up to that E3. The merch, the teasing, the rumors (that blizzard didn't squash at all and only perpetuated!). All of it suggested a major Diablo reveal and we got this.

And here is is crying in the first non-pinned tweet about access. Looks like 2k bans Kotaku too from access. And he acts surprised. They didn't give access till the last minute, the day before launch! lol
