Let's see:
Deadpool 2 (super-duper cut). Finally got around to watching this, was ok not great. Tries too hard and ultimately is kinda wearing after awhile, mainly though it falls flat whenever it tries to be more than just irreverent. Forgettable. 6/10
Shazam. Starts out really well, but kinda falls apart past the midway point, turning into a shitty cgi cartoon by the end, selling out its likeable cast in the process. Probably being harsh in giving this a 6/10, but the third act is such a mess that it drags the overall impression down.
Hellboy (2019). Ehhh, this is a mess, but I found it generally a more entertaining mess than I expected. CG is frequently dreadful (although to be fair both Deadpool 2 an Shazam had their rough spots too) but it occasionally shows flashes of class and invention like the Baba Yaga scenes and some of the insert mayhem in the end apocalypse scenes. Objectively it deserves lower but I'd give it a 7/10 because I had more fun with it despite its many shortcomings than with either of my other cape-shit watches.
Dark Age. I've had this fairly obscure 1987 Aussie killer croc movie on my pile of shame for ages and dug it out as palate cleanser. Entertaining and remarkably well-shot for its budget (an early work by Peter Jackson's DP on Kong/LOTR trilogy) its well worth seeking out for ozploitation connoisseurs. 7/10
Terrifier. Now this was a nice find. An actually good modern throwback to grindhouse slashers of yesteryear with plenty of nasty practical gore and a genuinely memorable killer in Art the Clown. It even has an appropriately grungy look rather than the pristine visuals that most modern schlock has thanks to the rise of digital cinematography. Liked this a lot, 8/10.
Aterrados/Terrified. Good heavens, another modern horror movie that doesn't suck. Its a fucking miracle in these days. This Argentinian spookfest is best approached knowing as little as possible about it up-front, but will please and surprise even long-standing genre fans like myself. The director has already been poached by Hollywood to direct an English language (and no doubt inferior) remake, so enjoy it while you can. 8/10
