The official PS4 exclusives page on the Australian PlayStation site has seen a curious update. Death Stranding appears to have been removed from the list.

The list included Death Stranding as recently as May 31. This sudden change may be strange, but it’s not entirely surprising. Death Stranding may be about to get confirmed for PC.

The problem here is the engine it is currently using. Decima is a proprietary engine developed by Guerilla who is a Sony first party studio. All Decima games are Sony first party exclusive games.

Not to say it won't come to PC later or that a PC version is not being developed in parallel but right now there is no evidence for that.

Game was announced as a time exclusive that would be coming to PC at a later date.
I'm not sure why everyone is surprised by this.

Same with FFVIIR

I dont think it has ever been announced as a timed exclusive, otherwise there would be no uncertainty.

Now if it said Death Stranding is s Trademark of Kojima Productions
I would say there was a possibility it would appear on other platforms.
But that right there indicates Sony owns it and KojPro are just Developing for them.
So it really is down to Sony.

You can find this at the bottom of the page on the Epic Games Store, where you can buy Beyond for PC right now.
Who owns what isn't the end of all discussions, there's contracts involved which might allow games to come to other platforms. Maybe Kojima really wanted a PC release and presented it as a condition for him to sign a deal with Sony, and Sony decided a Pc release later on was worth it for the sake of getting a Kojima console exclusive. As far as game devs go, Kojima is popular and famous enough that he probably wouldn't have struggled to find a partner if negotiations with Sony fell through

Ok you made me doubt so I had to go double check haha.
It is not quite as straightforward as I thought though I still stand by my coments.

Prior to the game getting its formal announcement at E3 2016, Kojima Productions announced they would be partnering up with Sony for their first game. At that point the deal was announced as a "console exclusive" (aka, timed exclusive that will eventually release on PC). There was even a Q&A from Sony (which has since been taken down) where they confirmed the game would get a PC release.

Since then they haven't brought up the whole exclusivity deal again. During E3 2016 Kojima just confirmed he was working with Sony with no mention of exclusivity, and during E3 2018 they just showed a trailer with no introduction or mention of exclusivity. The only instance I can find of them talking about exclusivity is for a vague "it's coming exclusively to Ps4 this November" statement.

I always assumed that it was timed exclusive, and would eventually end up on PC and XBO. Like FFVII remake probably will.

But we already know that is not 100% ps4 exclusive, no surprise even in the cover art don have "Only on PlayStation"

No doubt its coming to PC, Sony launching titles on PC is an inevitable step.

The way streaming is growing, platform boundaries are somewhat less meaningful than they were. I mean objectively if your ultimate goal is to allow streaming of your content elsewhere, why not sell it there too?

Retaining a lengthy period of exclusivity is a win-win.

To avoid false advertising I guess, since it being released on PS5 makes it not "exclusive" to PS4 anymore.
Other than that since the beginning there was mention of PS4 + PC, people just have bad memory.

Well, it doesnt mean it cant appear on pc. The quantic dream copyright notice reads:

Heavy Rain™, Beyond: Two Souls™, Detroit: Become Human™ ©Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe, developed by Quantic Dream. “Beyond: Two Souls” and “Detroit: Become Human” are trademarks
or registered trademarks of Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe and are used under license. All rights reserved.

So maybe?

Just in case of EGS exclusive, grab some popcorn.

Edit: Beaten.

Officially. This is just a rumor, even if it could be reliable.

Could be. But plans could also have changed in the meantime.
If they do announce it, theyll do it 6 months after launch, not before.

Like I said the ball is in Sony's court
I imagine it'll say the same when it hits PC, the question is when?
