No Man's Sky Is BACK Baby. Ok ... I'm in! IGN Interview

Your loss, but to call it crap after all the effort they put in just shows you up as a typical internet pillock looking to cause beef.
Or maybe it just isn't his kind of game, ever thought about that? It isn't my kind of game either, it is just too flat and boring. If I want to play a similar game but is more my jam then I can play Noctis, Starlink, X3: Terran Conflict, Elite Dangerous etc.

Interesting experiment in procedural gamemaking, but that initial launch really laid bare the lifeless fractal the game lives on. I checked in again for the past updates, but still find my gameplay efforts ultimately meaningless. AwShucks Murray can keep on awshucksn', I'll stick with X4.

The most impressive example of procedural games, that is also similar to No Man's Sky, is Noctis. Check it out.

Yes i have thought about that, but still no reason to even post let alone call it crap. Just pointless bullshit.

It is a forum, people can post both what they like and what they dislike. Heinrich just doesn't feel the new changes are worth his time. He didn't say "shit game" and just left, he said that he "still" is not going to play it, so maybe he will play it sometime down the line when the changes and additions start to be appealing to him.

Looks like a different game from when I last played.
Hopefully, character starter placement has been improved.

I created a character that the game put in deadly subzero temperatures and my broken ship was far away. I finally make way to my ship before I freeze to death, only to find that my ship is in the middle of a highly radioactive zone. Barely made it inside my ship and discovered I didn’t have enough material to fix the ship. My character got stuck in a loop where immediately upon exiting my vehicle, my character would die.

That was the last time I played, but I experienced stuff like that numerous times before. That was just the straw that broke the camel’s back. :pie_confused:

Niiceee..
I bought it when it first came out, found it interesting for a while but then meh..
went back about 2 months ago just to check it out and was absolutely blown away, it doesn't even feel like it's the same game at all but in all of the best ways.
I'm excited for what's coming down the pipe.

I see Sean's beard has leveled up a couple times over the course of his ordeal.

And honestly, at this point I'd just play The Outer Wilds if I wanted that kind of experience. It seems to deliver on the same beats as NMS (seamless space exploration, ancient alien mysteries, See That Planet? You Can Fly There, etc.) but on a smaller and more meticulously-crafted scale:

Excited to jump back in...it's been awhile. I might jump in before Beyond goes live, but maybes it's better to just wait.

So, with the multiplayer, can you team up with a group of people and basically have a persistent universe?

Ok, this may sound pretty retro, borderline retarded, but...what exactly can you do in this game besides flying from one planet to another and building pointless buildings? Is there a goal? A story to follow?

As I understand it there are aliens to meet, come to understand, and barter with, and also Space Mysteries delivered in multiple-choice text adventure-ish format whenever you stumble across the right kind of alien relic.

Though that's based on a way older version of the game than we see here.

I'm super hyped for No Man's Sky.

I never thought I would be saying those words, but as a VR headset owner I'm soooo in.

At this point that’s like asking what you can do in Minecraft.

There is a story quest line, though.

I spent most of my latter hours accumulating riches via farming materials for the manufacture of expensive commodities, and running a space fleet.

you know, not everyone is stoked to shoot laser beans at stuff to craft, these updates should have been on release day.

Well in Minecraft I can build all kinds of things. Just being creative with the tools available. Like building an underwater translucent metro network, floating castles or making an exact replica of your own house. I feel like you can do a lot more fun stuff in Minecraft.

but then if you never go to nexus , you could still meet other player on planets or not so much ? what chance that you land at same time on same planet ... or if you meet can you fight another player , damage its ship or no . Those are still questions unkown

well why not MP works now and this will be just another level on that thing . its not rocket science. i would be more curious if AI could do that too land on planets in front of you and such , do some stuff there, but maybe not this time yet.

Anyway, update looks dope. Very tempted to do a fresh start, but will ponder it once I check out the patch notes.

this guy tried it on valve index and he said it was just amazing on it . i bet it was for that price.

its nice how they changed interface for VR to work in most natural ways not pushing buttons but actually reaching stuff with hands and fingers

My point isn't that everything you can do in Minecraft, you can do in NMS. Just that at this point NMS is so big I no longer know how to answer the question.

Letter posters dude, they're lazy fuckers. Pay them no heed.
It's already a persistent universe.

So, if I have a group of 15 friends we could all play on the same server whenever we wanted and all of our progress would be saved?

I'm not sure whether the PS, Xbox and PC universes are linked, but within themselves, they are persistent universes.

I am someone who had great interest when this game was first shown. Then I saw that the launch product was not that video I saw. So I waited to see what they did. I saw updates that put in what I was looking for and bought it when it went on sale.

Since I have put in over 400 hours into the game. This update looks like its filling out the holes that were remaining from the original concept. (Or what I saw in that original concept.) The Nexus will be the multiplayer hub and actually running across others on the same planet will be great. The game world is still huge, but missions and such will herd online players to spots. That is really the only way you can create interaction on such a massive world without either 1) shrinking the world or 2) enslaving the human population and forcing them into your game to increase pop density. It's not an easy task.

I have played the various "spaceman sandboxes" out there. I have NMS, Elite Dangerous, Astroneer, and Osirin New Dawn. NMS is easily the best out of all of those. (Though Astroneer is charming, relaxing fun.)

VR is big for this game.

Still needs a lot of work if they didn't polish/upgrade the core mechanics of the game. I hope they start polishing and making more interesting changes to the environment hazards, weapons, crafting, trading, maybe ship building? Also the scanner/beacon repetition cycle is terrible.

Game is lacking big time on those departments.

Needs living cities, abandoned planets with ruins of civilizations, some kind of artificial intelligence on NPCs, maybe make them gather, reproduce, just keep expanding by themselves as (real) time goes by. Things worth exploring. Procedural is great but some hand crafted stuff hidden in the universe might go a long way as a search by the players. Just some big misteries, etc.

Maybe make it a player based economy, with materials more rare and not everybody rich with little effort.

Yeah I'm just going off the top of my head but the game needs a lot of work.
