Woke white guy arrested for spitting in his black girlfriends face (plot twist)

Hah hah! I seriously doubt anyone would do that to their slave. I mean, slaves were frigging expensive. Only a tiny percentage of plantations could afford them, and you take mighty good care of expensive "livestock".

You gotta keep in mind that slavery was a common institution for mankind going on about six thousand years or more before the American civil war. Jesus explained how slaves and slave owners should behave toward one another if they wanted to honor Him and be good Christians. Hammurabi, the ancient Sumerian king who invented civil law, laid down all manner of rules prohibiting mistreatment of slaves. A lot of the mistreatment talk is simply rubbish and myth.
nice post i agree the mistreatment talk regarding human slavery, especially the enslavement of black Americans which this thread is about, is simply rubbish and a myth.

Jesus fucking Christ. "livestock". cool message board.

Come on now, it's common knowledge that slaves were never beaten by plantation owners because they were real strict followers of ancient Sumerian kings. Wasabi and Obi Wan were super popular in them days.

You sound like the crazy black lady who lost her shit because some textbook referred to slaves as 'immigrants' once (while the word 'slave' was on the page 15 times.)

So what you're saying is that slave owners in southern states before the civil war didn't mistreat their slaves because they were adherent to the civil law that Hammurabi drafted in Sumeria? Am I reading this right?

I'm curious as to what documentation you have access to that a "lot" of the tales of mistreatment of slaves were rubbish and myth.

Obviously this is photoshopped.

That chick is crazy ... I'm glad she doesn't like black men.

And slavery wasn't a violent practice? Slaves weren't raped, beaten, killed, etc? What Earth do you live on that that never happened? Because I want to SLIDE there!

We disagree a lot I think, but this post was a perfect response to the suggestion you responded to. Well done.

Everybody disagrees about something, and I try not to wade into politics or social stuff on here but my morbid curiosity got the best of me and I'm genuinely intrigued to see if there's anything to back up the assertions made in their post.

I've visited Beauvoir. I've toured the Whitney Plantation. I'm legitimately curious as to how they fooled me with their apparently super advanced holographic technology that explored the made-up history of slavery in America.

There is no way to back that up. None, nada, zilch. Just waking up every single day, being forced to work for free, and being at risk of corporal punishment for any disagreement or disobedience towards (or for the pleasure of) a master would be a living nightmare. And we know that is only the tip of the ice berg on how they were treated. Children being sold, spouses being sold, rapes, murders, feet cut off for escape attempts, beatings and whippings to work faster, etc. These things happened and it is distressing when people down play it. I can find humor in a lot of things, and often lean against certain political ideologies, but one thing I would hope everyone can agree on is that slavery was indeed that bad. My lord.
