Holy shit my account still works! I basically stopped visiting this site a while ago, but since most the crazies are gone to another forum, figured I'd check back in.

On topic:
I still have some interest in this game, though I'll probably wait for a sale. I feel bad for the devs as from what I have seen it was 3D Realms as the publisher who made the apology (even said other forum has members whining that it wasn't the devs themselves apologizing), and feel they should still see (as devs) success and interest in their game so that maybe next time they can ditch 3DR and make exactly what they want with no publisher forcing things on them. I'd put my name here, but my current income situation means I couldn't pass it on any time in the near future to others. But it's nice to see someone trying to do something positive for guys who got screwed by their publisher.

This game was great. I never had much interest in those old shooters like Doom, Duke Nukem, and Wolfenstein. But this game is making me think I should go back and play those games. There's something innately satisfying about running around blasting anything that gets in your way, and this game scratches that itch. The visuals are surprisingly great, I love the designs of the enemies and I like world's atmosphere. Music fits the environments well while still being catchy tunes on their own. The game itself was challenging and fun, and there's a whole of secrets that add some replay value (I was a bit surprised when I got to the end of the first level and the game said "you missed 12 secrets" There are some flaws that probably have to do with using such an old engine. There's slowdown in areas that have a lot of enemies or a lot of stuff going on. The fact that you can't see or shoot enemies directly above isn't great either.

I'm not very good at writing reviews, so in lieu of further repeating how different parts of the game are "great" over and over to the point that I sound like a shill, I'll say this: It's a fun game, and I highly recommend it to anyone who feels interested in it.

Obviously I love free things, but I'm probably going to buy this straight up from the publisher because they reversed course on listening to the psycho crowd.

I love it because I can buy directly from 3DRealms too, cutting out the 30% cut Steam or GOG takes.

With the resent Sophia article and the announcement that they aren't changing the game, it really makes me wish I could afford to buy the game for myself and a bunch of people because the developers deserve it now more than ever. I'm still not putting my hat in this ring, because my situation is unique and I know it could be way too long before I could abide by the rules, but I'm glad to see this thread getting more attention and people signing up. The game is now on my wishlist, and I will pick it up when I can.
