Tekken 7 Season 3 Patch Notes Out! Hits September 10.

I haven't played in about 6 months. Good time to jump back in. For a Tekken casual like myself, this is the best Tekken game I've played so far (and I've been playing since the arcade/PS1 days).

I'm really happy with buffs to:

Lee - huge list.
Lars - He's gonna be great now.
Armor King - Less then I expected, but I'll take what they gave him.

Now my mains:
Paul - seems buffed, I said for ages that ff+3,4,3 should screw and it finally does.
Kazuya - unnecessary nerfs, slight buffs but aside of new string - b+2,1, he's mostly unchanged. Electric damage nerf - meh. I was hoping they'll give him back at least some of the 7 moves he lost in T7, but no. Fuck.
Jin - Big nerfs. F+4 and db+4 got hit hard, but I still main him. Fuck I played T5 weak Jin just fine.
Steve - seems still strong, no huge nerfs at first glance.

Things need to be tested in real life because vague description like: "changed opponent's reaction on counter hit", doesn't say much but you can count that when eg Jin's db+4 ch was a launcher and now the "reaction is changed" then on 99% it's not a launcher anymore and allows for 1 more hit or at best a tiny combo.

Lili's changes is about as useless as I was expecting since she's became a meme in balance patches. Not a single frame data buff she needed for some moves (she badly needs a safe launcher), and they even made a move people weren't using since it was unsafe, more unsafe.... :messenger_unamused: At least she wasn't actually nerfed this time it seems (edit: actually the single nerf might be bigger than her buffs), and having a normal power crush is nice.

Shocked Anna didn't get more, 1 of the few characters in the game I actually see called strait up bad. Figured they would do more for being DLC to encourage more buys. Edit: Anna seems a little better than on paper.....Eliza though.....oof.

Still releasing stuff which means we're still a ways away from the full GOTY edition

Good to know, I can keep waiting

Not sure if Tekken characters really needed new moves lol.

Have they announced the new feature yet?

I'd love tag battle, faster load times. Character endings.

You can tell I'm casual! Haha

New moves and alteration of existing moves generally help. Negan is pretty weak when it comes to low moves, but now he gets a new one, which makes him better and allows for more mixups.

Tekken world Tour is December 1-2, so I expect the new feature and the last two character reveals to be announced after the finals.

Negan and Julia are my mains so yeah the Negan buffs would help.

I'll wait till December. "New feature" could be something amazing all the way down to something a free patch could add. So I'll wait and see :)

Hoping the new feature = WiFi filter plus cross platform online play. That'd be huge!

I'd love a tag battle system but that might dilute the Tekken Tag brand and be alot of work. Still I love that mode as it gives you a good reason to main two characters rather than just one.

Looking at changes, Bryan and Dragunov seem like big winners.

Mr. Naps will probably win a tournament with Bryan now and JDCR will win every other with Dragunov.

Feng players should be happy too, he got long list of changes.

I'd really love if Kazuya or Lee would finally win a big tourny in Season 3. Hell I'll take Bryan even, but considering the Drag buffs, JDCR is probably like this now:

So every tournament with him will probably end with:

Laws dragon canon does pitiful damage now. He got lots of nerfs. He got new combos but the damage looks average.

Kazuya has mad combo damage now, but outside combos b+2,1 is shit, -14 and not natural, sucks.

Paul has big combo boost thanks to 3,2 sway.

Kazumi's, 1,2, tiger doesn't knockdown anymore. Good.

Lars got back his old df+2, but it's only from crouch. He looks great now. #buffedlars

Sadly I can't test anything today, so it's only from watching yt videos.

Game and dlc's are on PStore sale tomorrow - https://blog.us.playstation.com/2019/09/09/ps-stores-big-in-japan-sale-offers-savings-up-to-60/

I've not played this version, but loved others, is this one worth a get for $15?

Nice find. I hope there's a similar sale for the UK. My mate wants to get Tekken but to get up to speed os about 70-80 pounds (base game plus season 1 and 2) and that's not forgetting this new season 20 pounds. At this time after release a complete package should be around £40 IMO.

As for your question certainly, can't go wrong for $15. :)

Anyone got advice for new players jumping in? Theres so many moves, compared to Injustice and Mortal Kombat that I'm use to lol.

The Stat thing is cool but it grows way too quick.

I couldn't play yesterday so I jump in today and the first guy has S+, S, S.

S+ in one day? Please. It should take a month of playing non stop at minimum to get to S+. Now it's just stupid.

It took me an 1,5 hours to rise one of my stats from D to B and guy I was fighting against went from C to A, lol.

In a week everyone will be S+ and most of the stats will be Aggressiveness and Combo Damage because these stats naturally grow the quickest during fight.

Take it slow. Focus on few key moves and basic combos. Later you'll naturally expand to advanced techniques. Watch some matches on youtube to see how the character plays.

This guy has short and sweet character videos. Old season, but most things still work.

Brilliant thank you. What about those shortcut commands good to use and eventually switch over or never touch? :)

No problem. These shortcuts are worse than useless, it's like tying both your hands and a leg behind your back. People were even joking that there need to be bets made to try to win a match with these. They're just made bad by design.

Oh wow I had no idea. Surely it would make the input faster and no chance to mess it up? What makes them useless? :)

They're just very, very slow. Like when every character has forward, forward and some button attack. You'll just tap ff+something, the shortcut will do it so slowly it's actually hard to do it as slow if you tried.

You'll just get hit out of everything. If your opponent will be just mashing buttons he'll most likely win by default because your shortcut moves wont come out as quick as if you would do them manually.

Brilliant thanks for the explanation. I imagine that's intentional for casuals to have a bit of fun with at home. Looking forward to getting stuck into it.

Have fun and don't worry if something doesn't work, this game rewards patience and work put into it, big time.

Wow, they messed up Steve real bad in this patch and I'm not talking about df+2 nerf.

b+1 feels strange, wrong even and I'm pretty sure they messed up hitbox in it.

What I'm 100% sure is that they broke the hitbox in flicker 1,d+1. One thing that it's weak as shit now, but it completely whiffs in combos that earlier landed 100% of the time.

Now you have to do the flicker awkward 1,[1],d+1 combos and I'm willing to bet this wasn't intentional. Worse is that effects vary on different characters. Yeah, I'm sure this shit is bugged.

I can smell that they'll will fix this in a balance-balance patch in a month or two, they always do this. Actually if your character seems borderline OP, make sure you play him enough because this is basically a beta test we're doing and nerf(or buff) hammer always comes in a balance-balance patch.

Right now Steve, you're a mess, man.

LOL at this late in the game, I'd be stupid to go online and get murdered every fight!

There are still beginners online and ranked will match you with them. You'll meet smurfs from time to time, but that's unavoidable in any fighting game.

Still majority should be real noobs, so you most likely wont be matched with advanced players, unless you want to.

Offline modes are pretty worthless aside of practice mode.

Story mode is like 1 hour of gameplay maybe 2 if you're struggling.

Individual stories have the cheapest made endings in Tekken history.

No Team Battle.

No Time Attack.

No Survival.

Arcade Mode and Treasure Battle have abmysal Cpu AI.

They must've fired programmer that made cpu AI because it's not existent in T7. Ultra Hard in T7 is like Very Easy in every other Tekken. You can put on blindfold and mash buttons and you'll win every fight against cpu.

You'll never learn anything fighting T7 cpu, unlike say Tekken 5 DR where ghost AI was so good, you could learn like from a human and have satisfaction of fighting it.

Only difficulty is in Final Chapter in Story Mode because it's a boss fight, that doesn't matter since it works by it's own set of rules.
