The new version looks better, no? That her top has gained a couple of inches has the same relevance to me as her hair losing a similar amount.
This is the definition of a specious complaint to me.

I pre-ordered the remaster and have been enjoying it just the same as I did back in the day. It'd be nice to be able to chat enthusiastically about how the 3x speed boost is such a boon for draw grinding, and how great the game plays, but instead I get to argue about this sillyness...

Got it. You though it wasn't that much of a deal, I thought it was lame. Maybe that could be like a complaint to you but I'm okay with that.

I still bought the game too (haven't start it playing though). Maybe hop in to the OT thread and make some noises? It will be nice indeed.

I think this whole thing is ridiculous on both sides. The censorship is going to the extreme for no real reason. The people complaining about it are just as ridiculous as it is barely noticeable and really does not matter.

If it hadn't been pointed out to me, I wouldn't have noticed. I mean its not like Rinoa's (non-)cleavage is the focal point of her design or any of her scenes. I mean if it was Tifa, it'd be different because the chibi design of FF7 always exaggerated her boobs. FF8 though, everyone is more or less naturally proportioned.

The real point here is that sometimes people take offence where none is intended. I think everyone is capable of this, but sadly most when challenged on this just double-down on the perceived slight, rather than simply admitting that maybe they'd made more of fuss than was deserved.

Trouble is these days people online have a battery of faux-ethical excuses for doing this online. "Dismissing concerns" and the like.

The censors for even censoring it is just going way to far. I mean go to beach or even the mall and you may see more than what they censored in this game.

People complaining are just as bad as the changes made are noticeable if you are really looking but they are pretty minor.

I am on the side of it should not have been censored in the first place but I see the complaints as petty. IMO

Can you give me an example of censoring just to censor? I only ask because censoring only ever seems to be done for a reason, even if you or I find it ridiculous. And it usually happens to avoid controversy as a starting point.

So the ethics department of these companies (I think the Playstation one relocated to San Francisco *wink wink*) have to comply to new rating standards. The irony of all this, is that the people leading this new puritan crusade are probably furries and Zoe Quinn types who go on their lives sucking everyone's dicks (literally) and way more extreme stuff (I would encourage you to look into the furry fandom but I'm afraid you would get PTSD so don't). They also probably cheer when they see a head a guts flying all over the place but they pretend to freak out when they see a side boob. Provide a reason as to why he is wrong. Self-censorship is still inherently censorship. They are taking a previously released game and censoring models/original designs in its re-release. That is still censorship you dingus.

It is still fundamentally censorship when the original product is modified for rather silly reasons such as "getting with the times". "Times change" is an Appeal to Novelty fallacy. You don't just make changes for the sake of changing things.

But they didn't change Shiva at all, my guess is this isn't censorship but some of the original design work looked a bit weird when upscaled so they took a bit of artistic licence, it's not really clear what the original designers intention was for that crouch area, but the feathers probably look better than a high-res merkin.

Rhinoa's top also looks fine, her boobs would have been around her waist if you take the original texture work seriously. Plus she's classy, not like that trailer trash Tifa.

Don't get me wrong, if they put clothes on Shiva my jimmies would be rustled, but these changes honestly feel like they are just part of the HD treatment rather than an agenda.
