EviLore EviLore Thanks so much for the minilogue XD recommendation! This is a wonderful little beast!
Light weight yet well built, great presets, nice fx stick, quality knobs, very meaty and analogue sounding.

Cool, glad you like it! It'll probably be my next hardware pick up too.

There's a lot of power there. Keep in mind the digital oscillator is user programmable, too, and people have made some good stuff with it already that you can download, so it'll have a lot of longevity to it:

Yeah, that's great news. I noticed it came with a free code for the Korg Software Bundle. So I have to check that out too. There are like 300 open spots in the bank on top of the vanilla preset sounds so this is going to keep me busy for a while :messenger_beaming:

I bought myself a digital piano to mess around with. It's interesting coming from the guitar. I mostly just been playing scales and learning a few chords. So far I've found the trickiest thing is geting used to the fingering. I've had no problem playing the scales with just my right or left hand, but I have to really slow down playing both cos that left hand switch gets me everytime.

What kind of digital piano? I need details. Don't tell me you just happened to pick up one of these at an estate sale or something.

I play one of these bad boys. Fx-1 digital accordion. Song of storms from ocarina of time is a prefect practice song as your left hand has to jump about a lot.

I wouldn't know where to begin with that. I bought a Yamaha P-45. After doing a bit of reading up I thought it'd be best to get a full size one with weighted keys.

I will take that Moog off your hands FREE OF CHARGE!!!!! :messenger_beaming:
That's a great little work station.
that sounds like a terrible idea.

really, thanks.

keeping in line with the OP, I've been making music since I was 15...exactly two-thirds of my life. I started with pause button breaks on my grandmother's console and evolved to what's in this picture. taken breaks but never figured out how to function without it. I got into making it because all I did was listen to it. it's full on therapy at this point

Sweet setup T-Square T-Square ! Love my Grandmother, pretty much a desert island monosynth. Worth it for the spring reverb alone.

Roland just dropped a ton of new gear, btw, including two grooveboxes, mc-101 ($499, 4 tracks, can run on batteries) and mc-707 ($999, 8 tracks):

Almost like a TR-8S++, looks good.

Also the Jupiter Xm and X, though they're digital and pricey ($1499/$2499)

$1499, mini keys, digital. Seems overly expensive compared to something like the Minilogue XD. For gigs the Jupiter X seems preferable, but that's not out until next year.

Kinda salty on the X. Looks like a rebadged Jupiter 80. If you are going with the old aesthetics, it ought to have the old sound as well. That or just do something completely new. Behringer is going to eat Roland alive if they continue on this course. That's coming from someone dumb enough to own an original JP-8. I'd go with VSTs before I spent that much on the Jupiter X, or if you need hardware, go with an Integra-7.

Edit: Not to sound like some goofball elitist either, I use a Juno 2 more than the JP-8 and would easily take a Juno 2 over all of Roland's modern offerings

Agreed, though Behringer is going to eat a lot of companies' lunches by 2020-2021 at the rate they're progressing.

Boog Model D and the Neutron have price dropped to $223.99 each. Obscene.

Grabbed a boog back at release. Thing is a beast, and totally worth it. Closest thing to a perfect clone that I’ve seen and at a fraction of the cost.

The interminable wait for the rd8 continues. If they nail that like they did the boog, and with pitching for the bassdrum, I...I just don’t know.

May have to snag the new Roland MC 707 groovebox. It's not perfect but seems pretty deep and I hope it will get updated with a few sorely needed features. Bit pricey currently though.

Damn Behringer is on fire lately.
Store a few blocks from me sells all of their stuff. Time to take a little walk!

Lately I've been into midi controlled fx glitching, wild envelopes and delay FX, but all software.

I feel you- I've got a bunch of analog polys and monos, but lately it's been all itb. That's how I started, so it comes real easy. And there's just so much incredible software these days...

Neat. So, how mu--

Gotta take that NeoGAF money and make some sacrifices. A month of mac n'cheese and a slimy "looking for 80's synth coverband members" flyer will lead to the ladies!

Get it and start creating.

I got one of them Roland Go Keys last week. It's pretty neat. I've tinkered around with it a little but I haven't figured out what to do with it yet. It's got Bluetooth built in and hooks up with GarageBand so you can build a track using it instead of the IPad which is real cool. I just need to work out what I can use it for.

Really makes me wish I hadn't hopped on the boog so quick.

Also, somewhat disappointed in the rd8-- no velocity response (only accent on/off) and the bd pitch can't be controlled via midi as I was hoping.

Hard to get nuanced when all your drums hit at one of two velocities. And if you do accent any particular hit, any other hits that are playing simultaneously are automatically accented as well:messenger_confounded:

Five years ago or so, a friend lent me his fully midi'd OG808 that had full velocity response. It was awesome. Fingers crossed that Behringer pulls through with a fw update. Otherwise I'm just gonna stick with the Rytm.

I discovered this guy the other day

I was looking at his set up trying to figure out how he's doing it, but there's got to be a bunch of stuff off camera cos there's no way he's doing all that on a couple of Ipads

I just picked up a Pro-1, damn good. Love that I can pick up quality clones of classic synths without going into debt.

Is it cool to post a link to my tunes here? I'd always wondered if there was a thread like this!

I have Reason 10 with a Novation Launchkey 49 to produce with.

A track I made :

And an old Reloop Digital Jockey 2 and Traktor Pro to mix with.

My latest mix for anyone interested (minimal, deep tech) :

If you have an iOS device, UVI’s BeatHawk is free to pick up right now. It’s a solid beatmaker app.

Picked up a TR-8S for my son's 10yr BDay, it's my first drum sequencer and man that things a beast.

Although it's easy playing demo sequences, the learning curve is high for creating your own kits & samples!

Bought it with a microKorg S and TB-3, which are coming later.

Think I over indulged, but it's a fun project with my son during this quarantine. Being a drummer that listens to EDM he loves it, but maybe not as much as Roblox,
