Apple iPhone 11 Event: Sept 10, 2019

...hate me...
I have to wonder if the 4-5 hour battery life improvement on the Pros compared to the meager 1 hour on the regular 11 has to do with dark mode in iOS 13 taking advantage of OLED displays.

I got to admit, I though this would be an issue, but with iCloud and auto photo/music offloading, I’ve never had space issues ever. And I’m taking thousands of photos a month on numerous vacations.

How big is your iCloud storage package?

I watched the recap on Engadget. They announced some great stuff. I'm definitely gonna upgrade to iPhone 11 Pro next May, when my contract expires. Heres a video from Macrumors:

I might jump on the normal 11, depending on specs. I’ll wait a bit. 1100 for the pro is dumb as hell. Didn’t they have a crazy markup on X? No USB C is also putting me off

Lmao don’t do that. By then just enjoy the Summer and wait for iPhone 2020 which is going to be brand new, new size, notch, Qualcomm, etc.

Well, I currently have an iPhone 8.
I feel like that’s even more of a reason. You already waited plenty, 4 months more isn’t much. iPhone 11 Pro is great and all but if you’re going to keep it some years it will still feel old way faster than the 2020 iPhone which will be the first all-new iPhone since iPhone X. Likewise the iPhone X would feel newer than the 8 in your hands right now. And the 8 is still a good phone, you can manage.

Even still, you’d only be 4 months away from the upgraded model. I would wait those few months out, personally, if I was that close to the next release.

I have the give it to Apple with their clever marketing. The iPhone 11 is basically the new iPhone XR, but by calling it the 11 they won’t give average consumers the impression that they’re settling for the cheap model, but rather that they’re simply not forking out extra for the Pro variant. A subtle but important difference. Additionally, mainstream coverage will less likely be “here’s the new iPhone for $999/$1099”, which might turn Joe Blow from even bothering to step into an Apple store.

I’ll got with Pro Max. Currently have the X but it’s lost in my massive hands + I always hit like fucking 4-5 letter with my thumb

I’ll need to get the max this time and normal regular size iPhones for me

No, it‘s the battery being bigger than last years model (partially due to stuff like 3D touch being removed).

Probably a combination of a better battery, power management chips, and the OLED display. I have the iOS 13 beta with dark mode enabled and I did notice a big increase in battery life after enabling it on my XS max. It would be pretty deceiving to throw in dark mode stats into the battery life, though, because that's a preference, not a standard.

Light mode is also a preference, not a standard either. You literally get asked to pick one. So it becomes legitimate to at the very least partially include dark mode in the usage patterns for battery testing purposes, cutting it off completely is just not realistic, and could yield much better real world results than the ones that they advertise and you know they want to advertise good results.

It sucks too because this is admittedly the first time I was this excited to buy an Apple product. As soon as I saw the design I couldn't believe my eyes. Almost every proposed prototype looked better. Not so excited anymore tbh.

Made a crappy phPBB forum once ... once.
I do think its pisspoor that we all have to wait till our respective 13:00's before we can order because some yanks on the west coast don't like their sleep disturbed.

Apple UK isn't Apple USA - telling me a trillion dollar company can't handle time zoned pre-orders? No wonder their fucking store crashes or times out.

Dickheads.

Apple is really behind in terms of design because of the notch and lightning cable, but that is to be expected. They use the same design for at least 3 years and then change.
Their software and hardware are way ahead android devices tho.

I have an xS max and am not tempted. Maybe next year. It does everything so well I reallly don’t see myself upgrading for atleast a few years.

My iPhone 7 is already too big and the smallest of these is .2in larger in height and width, the others being massive and Galaxy phones are even bigger than those. I have no clue how these sizes appeal to people.

Iphone are so phony. I'm thinking of getting my first one with the 11 though. I told my friends I would own at least one once in my life. But they are phony, lol.

Should the 11 be my first dive into an Iphone? Samsung and android has been one with me since I can remember. But the bitties be telling me to grab this buster iphone for facetime. Thinking I'll hold onto my Note 8 and get an iphone but if I don't like it, just go back to my Note. Undecided!

At the end of the day those last two things are the only thing I've ever cared about. Would I like a full notch less screen? No lightning cable? A fingerprint reader? Fuck yes. But I'll take a hit for the software and hardware power. Function over form. It's not like it's so ugly, because it really isn't.

I’ve decided to pull the trigger and upgrade from my 7 plus. It kind of kills me to pay the pro-max tax lol, but at the end of the day I want the biggest and best possible display, I consume 80% of media stuff on my phone. I’m having trouble deciding on color because I kind of like all of the colors. My dad has had this trash Verizon off brand android for years, he’s about to get an upgrade too 👍

4 months? They don’t release iPhones in January. iPhone 2020 wont be out for a year.

Preorders up. Anyone get theirs?

Where I live now, I can just walk into my local T-Mobile store and grab it on day one. I’m wondering how the one year of free Apple TV+ will be activated on a new device?

I have an xS max and am not tempted. Maybe next year. It does everything so well I reallly don’t see myself upgrading for atleast a few years.

I have the XS Max too and you’re right, there’s no reason to upgrade since it’s still a great device. However, I will hand this one down to my wife and use my T-Mobile Jump! to upgrade. My wife is happy to get all my hand-me-down phones since the 7.

Rumors of a new iPhone 6 sized phone going into production in Q2 2020 have been picking up steam, so you could wait and pick one of those up.

I have an Apple Watch Series 2, which I love, but the always on display on the Series 5 is pretty tempting. When I run, and especially when I swim, it’s annoying to have the screen go black on you. I was never impressed by the Series 3 or 4 but if the new S5 chip turns out to have some improvements over the S4, I’ll likely be picking one up. Otherwise, I’ll wait to see how the Series 2 runs with Watch OS 6 (Watch OS 5 runs significantly better on the Series 2 than the previous major release).

I want say, and I do so every chance I get, the way Apple treats it's customers is criminal, they wanted $300 dollars for a repair that I did myself for $30. Also, I don't believe the companies true value is a trillion dollars based off their business model of bilking their clientele it will not last as more people wake up to Apple's nonsense.
