Nioh 2 will launch for PlayStation 4 in early 2020, publisher Koei Tecmo and developer Team Ninja announced.

Here is an overview of the game, via PlayStation.com:
About

Survive a brutal blend of Japanese myth, legend, and history.

Master the lethal arts of the samurai as a mysterious half-human, half-supernatural Yokai warrior, in this challenging action RPG sequel.

Explore violent Sengoku-era Japan and the deadly Dark Realm, both plagued with grotesque, merciless demons.

Unsheathe your deadly weapons and cut down all enemies in your path using a revamped combat system and the ability to transform into a full Yokai to unleash devastating paranormal powers.

Key Features

  • Sharpen Your Skills – Prepare for the fight of your life with revamped mechanics that build on the fan-favorite elements of Nioh, requiring your full concentration and skill.
  • Choose Your Method of Combat – Follow the way of the samurai with traditional weapons including swords and hatchets, or fill your Amrita gauge to wield mighty Yokai abilities and destroy monstrous foes via a variety of mighty attacks.
  • Improve Your Weapons with the Yokai Shift – Filling your Amrita gauge doesn’t just give you access to a powerful Yokai form, but also allows you to increase the stats of various weapons and add extra buffs, such as staggering foes and grappling downed enemies.
  • Help, and Get Help, from Other Players – Call upon the spectres left behind by other Nioh 2 players to aid you in combat. Their spirits will assist you until the end of the current level… or until they’re defeated.

I'm almost hoping this is delayed because Early 2020 might be too stacked for my wallet to handle, especially after the upcoming onslaught that is late October through November.

Looks sick as hell, though.

Is this a PS4 exclusive?
Just got the first game for PC pretty cheap and haven’t finished it yet so I’m hoping for a PC release of Nioh 2.

Nope, for all we know the PC version will launch the same day as the PS4 version. Either way though, PC release is a given.

That's so soon! Still nowhere near completing the first one
me too. 100+ hours in and i've just about given up, cos I think I'm only halfway through the game, and it's just a grind to get through. it was fun for a bit but it suffers from just too much content.

2020? NiOOOOOOOOOOh!!

Looks great, and it's one of my most anticipated games of (now) next year. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

Yup, I'm the same and I might actually have to start again cause it was a long time ago I played it and I got a PS4 pro since and lost a load of saves.
But it looks really cool.

And I still can't finish Nioh 1 ...

Lol came to say the same thing. I fucking LOVE Nioh to me it felt like the samuri souls game I wanted but it was just as difficult as a Souls game and just didn't have the patience to stick with it.

Because of Nioh I haven't touched Sekiro and because of Nioh and Sekiro now I can't touch Nioh 2.......

I guessed that might have been the case but it was mostly a joke for people who think From Software invents everything and others are copying them (like the people who were accusing Capcom for copying From Soft for having mimics in DD Dark Arisen or in that Deep Down gameplay trailer). :p

I finished Nioh 1. Not sure I want to go through that again. I'll see how it's received. If they make it even harder I'll probably pass. Nioh kicked my ass.

This game will have a character creator right?

Thankfully I am sure team ninja will allow me to make a better waifu than what you could ever accomplish in souls games, lmao.

Demons would be the same as Bloodborne. Both are Sony ip.

Nioh is Koei Tecmo ip just like Ninja Gaiden.
But its being published by Sony for the west....right? But is the 2nd getting PC release like original game?

Yep, on the west. I have no doubt it will get a pc release.

Right now it seems this game is first on ps4 just like the original game as a console exclusive.

Same, would have to start from scratch again....
I remember really loving the level design and combat but the game requiring a deep understanding of crafting and equipment management, something I really don't want to spend any time on,

Day one, can't wait. The trailer is so flashy and fast I almost have to watch it at half speed. Looking forward to getting to see basic enemies, slow moments, exploration stuff. This seems like more of a boss rush trailer only. There are definitely some wild bosses though. The forest guy and the horse guy are nuts.

Loved the first game, so obviously this is right up my street.

The truth is Nioh kinda ruined the Souls games for me, it was so content rich and the way I genuinely needed to adapt my play-style over successive difficulty cycles kinda made FROM's stuff seem kinda thin and over-reliant on atmospherics.

In the end, the gameplay in both is about fighting tough enemies and for me Nioh just does it better.
