Looking back on it, I do. But, I still don't like being politically correct. It forces you to be like everyone else and idealism is thrown out the window. Being politically correct throws idealistic expression out the door and individualism is shelved. You can't be you because people want you to be something else. It's the ultimate form of control and it's something I don't want any part in.

Real talk though, it’s the height of irony that the people talking so much about letting people be their true selves are pushing political correctness onto others in order to achieve it.

I hate the idea of political correctness. It implies being 'correct' for the sake of political points, or just putting on a facade.

Do the right thing cos it's the right thing to do, not because it will appease someone's feelings.

For better or worse, human beings are social creatures, so peer pressure is extremely strong for most people out there.

There's even an experiment that proves it:



TL;DR: most people are afraid that the tribe/hivemind will "reject" them if they go against the majority. We evolved that way, but modern societies are very different from traditional tribes.

Correct. The weird thing about this is: people try to force political correctness or being good on people. That's not quite how it works. Be good to yourself and other is just something that should be part of our culture. You can find that within yourself, in religion, or just your values. There's no subculture that will help you be a better person. If you're an asshole, you're an asshole. If you're nice, you're nice. Being politically correct is just a shallow value people want you to have because they want to control you.

Don't make that mistake.

How many "snowflake cunts" do you think e.g. Bish has banned? And my suggestion was of course assuming he could just do it automatically filtered by mod who handed out the ban.

Yeah, I agree with you here. If there's a way to filter and automate the process, it could probably be worth the risk.

Well you can add me (look at my post history at the time, I have no desire to edit either) to the list as I miss talking video games and wanting a fresh start somewhere again as next gen is starting to come. I feel like I want to become a better person myself with hopefully to see some more common sense and empathy moving forward.

I PM'd Tyler before making any post here and to give my utter honest views and explaination. But considering how much stuff I've done under the influence of alcohol and being a dick then wanting to be better myself and how easily people can manipulate your own weaknessess and honesty to twist as under a different perspective, I've had a good cake of hubris to know that the world is not black and white, so you can put me on what is "bollox" and what not, hate-mobs and the domino effect heat of the moment (what I did and raise my hands of guilty admission).

One thing without a doubt though, video game discussion sure aint like it use to be and how badly I missed those times to have an actual good respectful discussion without any alternative agenda.
