Probably less "bad" and more noticeably inconsistent. Apparently it has improved quite a bit since the E3 build but here's the retail one and you can see it's still not exactly great:

The thing about this video, is it’s hideous, yet I haven’t seen this kind of framerate performance in any other video or preview, quite a fair bit of the game. I’ve seen it hitch a bit here and there, so not quite up to the usual Nintendo standard, but nothing like this.

Nice OP! Despite me not loving the art style, I will instantly buy any classic style Zelda games. I really need to re-play ALBW one of these days too.

I remember like it was yesterday getting the original game.

Was given the game and got to wait in the car and play it while my mum went shopping.

This game is definitely nostalgia overload.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
This..this will be my first time playing this game... don't shun me
Why would we shun you? One of the best parts about this remaster is that a whole new generation will be introduced to the game - whether you weren't born yet, didn't have a Gameboy, or just weren't into Zelda when it originally came out.

It´s beautiful but in my 4k tv looks rough, has a lot of jaggies and poor performance. The game needs a patch to solve the slowdowns at least.

Said I was going to wait, but with the amiibo coming, I just can't. I'm sure I can beat this before Dragon Quest XI next week. That game is a mammoth. Framerate issues on this game don't seem to bother me. Frame pacing does. It seems like this game just has a fluctuating framerate. Seems its more locked at 50 than anything else.

But yeah, they should've locked this game to 30. No way this game was going to hit 60 anyways. Can any switch game do full 60fps?

Most exclusives in fact, do. Link’s Awakening is a bit of an aberration here.

I've loved playing console Zelda's since the NES just for some reason i have never gotten into the handheld ones, I guess my gameboys were always for Pokemon when I was a kld... which is a shame. I am super excited to check this out

this game is damn near impossible without a guide

it doesn't tell you SHIT on what you do or where you go next
Honestly, that's part of the appeal. Especially since this was a Game Boy game back in the day - I remember I got this and I don't think I got another new game for at least 6-8 months afterwards. It was designed to keep me busy as a young person lol

I am somewhat surprised to see that they didn't change the script a little or add quest markers or something to lessen the obtuseness of the game, but eh for me personally it would have gotten rid of a bit chunk of the appeal.

I don't have much experience when it comes to the Zelda franchise (only played Wind Waker through to completion).
This looks pretty charming though so I may give it a chance.

This game has a lot more in common with the original The Legend of Zelda (NES) than probably any other game in the series.

Kinda wish we had a remake in the same style.

Why would Walmart not stock a first party Zelda game?

I believe he means if they have any copies left when he goes there.

Yup, from what I've seen it seems like Wal-Mart just doesn't carry that many physical games these days period and people are starting to catch on that you can get new Switch games there for $49.99.

I mean I'm sure I'll get one there's like a billion Wal-Marts around me.

I'm going to be dissenting voice here and say that though I'd have preferred Grezzo to have locked this at 30FPS instead of using a double-buffer v-sync setup that forces the game down to the 30s whenever it starts to drop way below the 60fps target, the game is fine.

The original Link's Awakening ran at 59.97 on monochrome 144p without any scrolling, loading 160x144px areas box-by-box so, really, the oscillation now isn't that bad.

In the last few months Ive noticed that trend here at the walmart I work at. Without getting into too much detail I can say we only usually get around 3 copies for new first party switch releases (we sold out on games like fire emblem and marvel within hours of thwir launch days and we usually only get one shipment a week. And yeah, the cheaper price has a bit to do with it regarding supply and demand but for some reason nintnedo seems to expect their games to not sell well and sends our stores literal handfuls at a time. That or theyre continuing their apple approach of sitting on their supplies.

At first i figured theyre just spreading out their supplies but this definitely seems to be a Nintendo situation. Because others like MS, sony and third parties will send usually 2-4x as many copies. For example we got 8 copies for xbox and ps4 each for BL3 (so 16 copies total) and last week we got 6 copies of gears 5 SE and 3 of the CE at launch. So while I cant vouch thats how all walmart work (my store is one of the smaller ones) thats just what Ive noticed.

Looking at that frame rate video, if it wasn't for the graph, I wouldn't even notice any of the drops when just watching the gameplay, there's continuous movement and no stutter or slowdown to me anyway. Nintendo should have went for a locked 30FPS instead but I have played games in the 20FPS area and didn't bother me or affect me playing the game. If anything, screen tearing is far worse in my opinion. Either way, my copy arrives Friday!!! Woohoo!!!

just now unlocked! here we gooooo

first impressions: it feels really good to play, just moving around and attacking is very smooth and fun. visually it looks great tho drops exist. this seems like a really cool world already. I like the overworld string quartet arrangement!!

I just finished dungeon number 7. This game continues to be amazing. I've gotten used to the stuttering and it's not been bothering me so much.

There are actually a few things I had forgotten (it's been a few years since the last time I played this) so there are a few times where I got sidetracked and had to wander around looking for the next place to go. I'll probably finish this up tonight or tomorrow.

Game is brilliant, the frame rate is fucking terrible.
luckily you can patch performance. you can't patch a bad game. this is def a Nintendo quality remake.

so far i've played the intro, beach, forest, first dungeon, the town, some random caves, some trading story stuff. doing the claw machine, that was great, i got really into that lol. the dialog is great. this game has so much cool stuff!

the intro looks really awesome. the 2D segments are really cool and a neat shake-up. the dungeons look really cool. the art overall is pretty rad, it has this claymation fantasy thing going on. sound design rules, good mix of effects, orchestral music, and chiptune. it plays really well. this game is everything i've ever wanted from a new 2D Zelda.

Got the amiibo yesterday, it's beautifully painted. But it's super small like the package is 3 times bigger.

Golgo 13

The Man With The Golden Dong
Game is amazing so far. Never played the original, but those 3 hours FLEW by. Hardly notice the frame rate.

Wish I could refund this, the frame rate drops are far worse than a lot of the reviewers make out. Digital foundry handwaving this is just weird nostalgia fuelled bias.
