just checked my coco 4k + blu ray case and I do have a basic blu ray and 4k blu ray. So I guess so.
You could also check the back of the case and at the bottom it should tell you what discs it has inside.

I'm going in the exact opposite direction. I'm sick of paying monthly fees to be able to sift through a mountain of garbage for a couple of things I like. I'd rather put that money towards things I know I like and will want to rewatch. I have never seen a movie collection so large it was becoming a storage problem, nearly everyone trots this out as a reason to go digital over physical, but I've never seen anyone get to the point where it was an actual problem. I live in a small apartment and I have plenty of room for most of the stuff I have ever enjoyed that I consider worth owning and rewatching.

I can't remember it -- the movie was about a girl who was in a school for girls and a bunch of them were on 12 floors, and they find out that the whole thing is a way to use their facial skin for skin grafts. They try to escape and they get found by police... it took place in Russia (revealed late in the film). I think it came out last year so if y'all have watched it and remember the name lemme know. <3

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
we watched the rifftrax, which was pretty entertaining. godawful movie, despite it basically being the same as the modern Marvel films. tons of quips. Chris Evans being smarmy. Stan Lee cameo. you even have Kevin Feige heading it up. just goes to show Marvel doesnt' always knock it out of the park. the Surfer himself was super cool.

I think that I would have everything I wanted before hitting that number, I don't know, somewhere in the realm of a few thousand maybe? I have somewhere around a couple hundred probably and it doesn't feel like it takes up much room at all really.

I guess for me it mostly comes down to I barely watch the movies I own more than maybe twice so I feel like I have wasted money and space for them. Plus I'm pretty sure I've already hit the realm of a few thousand.

Watched Detective Pikachu and John Wick 3 the past few days. Can recommend both, for different reasons.
If you liked JW or JW2 you probably already watched JW3. If you haven't seen John Wick yet: what are you waiting for? It's the best action movie of recent years. My personal JW ranking is as follows: 1-2-3. While I think JW3 has some of the best set-pieces in the series, it is unfortunately not as clear as in the previous movies about the immediate goal at any given time. In a sense it reminded me of Uncharted 3 (similar number of dead bodies), where I can fully believe that they started with the fully realised action sequences and figured out a "story" thread later on to tie everything together.

Well yeah, I don't like buying shit I have no intention of using more than once lol. Everything I own I love and will watch again at some point, great content doesn't get old to me. You're talking to a guy who has eaten the same thing for lunch every day for over 6 years lol.
I enjoy picking something to put on from my library of curated classics, vs. thumbnail surfing on Netflix for half an hour only to settle on something I probably wouldn't have watched if I didn't feel obligated to get some use out of the shitty ecosystem I was paying into.

See, I always just bought stuff I was interested in. If I only bought what I loved my library would be probably down to less than a hundred movies. My issue with Netflix is they never seem to have the movie I actually want to see half the time.

So, I enjoyed it a lot. Glad to hear Ridley is making at least one more because I love his Alien movies.
A few things. The CGI alien creature in the beginning part of the movie just looks straight up bad, like when it first comes out of the one guy in the sick bay, and then is mauling the woman on the floor, I couldn't believe they went with those effects. It continues to look like garbage until it becomes the more human sized alien.
When the shit hits the fan in this movie, wow it hits the fan hard. That was super tense and my jaw just kept dropping as more and more shit went wrong.
I love the David character, and really liked where this story went. I was tempted to give it a 6/10 towards the end but then they just gave up filming and rolled the damn credits. Even the three sounds too high but there was some very good actors, that script though. They could have easily knocked an hour off and nothing of value would have been lost from the movie.
This has got to be the worst movie I’ve seen in a long, long time.

I picked up the new Blu-Ray release of Vampires by John Carpenter, back when I saw it in theaters I certainly liked it but there were aspects I found lacking. It had this weird habit of turning into a semi-montage during action scenes like it was embarrassed by how much action was happening and wanted to reduce it down. Seeing it again now I could more easily appreciate it and am sure the effect they use is more because of budgetary reasons than anything else.

I finally saw Lego Movie 2.
I didn’t love the first Lego Movie, but I enjoyed the sequel a fair bit. After the trailers I was worried the “Sistar System” would introduce an irritatingly feminist slant, but that didn’t really happen. It’s ultimately about a brother and sister learning to play together.

I can easily recommend Crawl - hurricane + hungry alligators on the loose. Basically no fillers, just a 90 minute wild ride. Normally I'd be bothered by the fact that
but the movie is very enjoyable and kept me on the edge of my seat so it's all forgiven. 
the lead female survives multiple alligator attacks & bites while the filler characters are slaughtered within seconds

Vampires actually had potential but there's a lot of miscues. The biggest one is James Woods casting as the lead.
I have no idea wtf he was thinking on that one.

Elle Fanning was great in this film, lots of emotional range and the story truly is heart breaking. It felt reality breaking, like, how could something like this really happen. No doubt it really does happen in reality though. It's about 2 young girls growing up in the 60's with the threat of nuclear war on the horizon, Ginger is the main focus. They both act promiscuously, Ginger's mum disapproves but Ginger's dad like that his daughter is being independent and discovering herself. You can tell that the relationship between her parents is strained and it's not long until things break apart for them. And then Ginger's best friend Rosa does the unthinkable.
Spring Breakers
I had seen this film before but was happy to watch it again since Ashley Benson and Vanessa Hudgens are so darn hot in it. A very quirky film, definitely not for everyone. Starts off with 4 young girls having no money to party at spring break, ends with a shoot out. The film really is beautiful and I love the colour hues on display.
The Bling Ring
I had no idea this was the movie where that Emma Watson gif where she is dancing and licking her lips came from, nom nom.
It's an ok film, nothing great but competently made. I didn't feel anything for or care about any of the main characters. Based on a true story about a bunch of teenagers that break in to Hollywood stars homes and steal things. In the end they managed to steal millions of dollars worth of items, crazy.
The Spectacular Now
I enjoyed this film a lot. Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley were both great. I guess you could say the film is about depression and what people do to try and hide it? Great chemistry between the two leads and it deals with some topics that are pretty close to home regarding fathers.
Up to this point, majority of A24's films were about teengers, very interesting start to their first year. Their following year they started going a bit crazy with Enemy and Under The Skin. My wife and I have both seen Under The Skin before so we didn't watch it again.

This movie is a total mind fuck and without Chris Stuckman's analysis of the film I never would have figured out what the film is actually about. The ending scene creeped me the fuck out. Anyway, Jake Gyllanhaal and Jake Gyllanhall are both great in this film, top effort from them both. It's about 1 Jake discovering that another Jake exists, at least it's another man that looks exactly like himself. If you like films that aren't in your face about it's subject matter you should definitely check this out.

Watched Us the other night. Have not seen Get Out but thought this was really good. Great filmmaking v compelling. Story might have had some holes but the moment to moment was great. Also evil Elizabeth Moss was truly scary

Just got back from Ad Astra. Movie is so far up it’s own ass that there is no real enjoyment to be had. It’s pretty, but eye roll worthy. Pointless action scenes, the most pointless on screen deaths I’ve ever seen, the worst dad of the year award, the most stupid plot device ever (serious... wtf at the “surge” shit”. Seriously the movie hurts my head to think about. The worst part was it felt like it had some really good ideas about what it means to appreciate one another and the idea of “we are all we’ve got”. But it felt like it shoe horned those ideas Into a sci-fi film to have some pretty visuals.
also how the hell can a traditionally accelerated rocket make a “sos response stop” while on their way to Mars when supposedly the Fate of all living things is at stake...

I can recommend a 2019 russian movie "Beanpole" that was recently sent to the academy for Oscars. Hard to watch, emotional movie with a beautiful, but at the same time dirty cinematography. There are not much movies about people lifes after a war. Strongly recommended

I'm not sure if there are any legal ways to watch it outside Russia. Moreover there is only one way to do it legally in Russia - by subscribing to "Kinopoisk" (it is Russian IMDB). 1 month is free and then it is $4 (i only converted it from rubles to dollars, so it may differ if Kinopoisk made special price for other regions (more expensive most of the time)).
I don't say doing it illegally is good, but doing all that shit with Kinopoisk might be too difficult for you

Honey, I Shrunk the Kids - a refreshing journey back to a time when Disney was able to produce unwoke children's entertainment that simply told a fun story without having to run things by diversity officers first. The entire cast is white, not even a black neighbour anywhere. No sassy eye rolling know it all daughters who can out throw the boys and teach their father something about empathy, just a normal 90's girl who was worried about if her crush was going to ask her to a school dance. 3 boys being boys - the young nerd looking up to his scientist dad, the Macguiver survivalist, and his reluctant sporto brother.
And you know, I find even bad practical effects incredibly charming. Everything here is laughable to the modern viewer raised on and addicted to a steady diet of polygons, but it's surprising how good the actual impact of the visuals and effects is. The scene where the boys are flying around on a bee in the backyard looks really good actually - it's just blue screen over some actual footage of a camera zooming around a backyard, but this makes it feel tactile in a way - this is all real stuff, not some overproduced CGI nonsense.

Was on a bunch of plane fights and I watched some movies. Wonder Woman was enjoyable but very very dumb. There is a part at the end when she is whining about why the war won’t stop and I’m like bitch you just murdered 50 people like 2 mins ago. At one point the guy tells her “I guess war is all of our faults” and she’s like “Not mine” and again I’m like you dumb idiot you just killed a bunch of German teenagers in full bloodlust. These filmmakers are really bad at making heroes who aren’t just amoral inhuman monsters who temporarily help people they like. Ugh. She hot tho...
Dumbo was pretty enjoyable I got to admit. A much more chill watch. At the very least it was fun seeing Keaton and Devito reunited in a circus setting

This film was awful. I regret even paying the $6 to see it. I wanted to love it going in since it was Brad Pitt and Sci-Fi, but it was just so boring. Was pretty in some scenes, but not enough pretty to drag on for two hours.
At least I got a free IMAX poster to add to my collection.

haha yes i forgot. the lady who was designing biological weapons that they even showed were used on a civilian town earlier in the movie. soon after i'm sure she probably got a job with Himmler doing the same. it's just so weird to bust out the Holocaust parallels so blatantly - we have multiple scenes echoing the gas attacks of the holocaust in the movie - yet just ignore all of it by the end of the movie.
"but her mask came off and she was kind of ugly! sure she personally was involved in killing innocents but she was scared and vulnerable for that 1 shot! supermodel will have pity on your ugly face! leave it to the beautiful gods like WW to decide who lives or dies, puny human!"
yeah, it was a decent enough watch on an airplane, but i've seen better writing in the 70's tv series (especially the first season). pretty to look at but extremely dumb.

I'm watching Robocop right now, got the bluray trilogy in the mail today.
I'm always harping on this, because it's hilarious to me. Within the first 10 minutes of this 32 year old movie, we see Murphy introduced to his new police station and crew. As he's gearing up, two police officers bring a violent perp into the station. The perp knocks the male officer out cold apparently with one hit, and then knocks over Murphy's female partner to be. She gets a mean look on her face, then gets back up and like judo kicks this guy in the back, then pummels his face against a wall for a few seconds, before the Captain has to tell her to cut it out. When the fuck did people start harping about how fragile men cannot handle strong women? I've been seeing these types of scenes my entire life.

Check out “island of lost souls”. It’s based on the same book, and is my personal favourite film adaptation. The legendary Bela Lagosi also has a small, but memorable role in the film.

Robocop 1 is a tight masterpiece - great effects, very well paced, great satirical elements, I think there is very little wrong with this film. On the extra features, director Paul Verhoeven says "I wanted to film Satan killing Jesus." I remember watching this a lot as a kid, and I'm just surprised looking back that I was ever allowed. The scene where Clarence and his gang kill Murphy is brutal and sickening. Yet the violence here is also taken so far over the top as to be comical at times - people are literally riddled with dozens of high caliber bullets and still don't die. I laughed out loud during the scene where OCP is showing the police force it's new huge tank robot thing, and it malfunctions, obliterating an employee with hundreds of bullets from a chain gun, it's crazy over the top. But the kicker was right after, another employee yells "Someone call a paramedic!", like there is any chance of this guy still being alive lol. Paul Verhoeven called that out in the extra features I watched afterwards and I felt a kinship lol.
Robocop 2 is a lot worse than the first movie, just feels like a cheap knockoff. They made the robot suit look a little shinier and blue steelish, but it has none of the charm or humour of the first movie.
