PlayStation Insider is "Very Nervous" About PS5 and the Current State of Sony.

Atari2600, I'm not that old to own one. NeoGeo, I'm not rich to own one at the time. In my grade, I only knew of one kid that owned it.
Yeah I didn't own them either but they still hold legendary status for me. I was pretty young when 2600 was new and never got my parents to buy me one. I wanted to play it so much that specifically made friends with people who did have one just so I could go round their house and queue up behind other so called friends to play it! The NeoGeo was similar in that I never owned one, never knew anyone who did either because they were ridiculously expensive. The only way I got to play on one was by going to the local games shop and blagging a go as a perspective buyer. Living in a seaside town, getting a play on a NeoGeo console was rarer than pretty much any arcade cabinet game at the time. You don't need to own something to know its greatness :)

I mean between your 60s and 80s the best years are the 60s if you want to travel , have tame with family and do anything you wanted to that work did not let you.....

Sony will have no problem next gen. People will buy blindly on name alone. Unless some major fuck up in production causes a mass failure rate of systems akin to the 360 problem then they will do just fine.

I am not concerned but then again I am mainly a PC gamer. However, if the PS5 is a decent piece of hardware and there are some exclusive launch titles to go with it I may switch back to console gaming for a year or two until it becomes obsolete.......then back to PC gaming.

PS5 will launch, will be competitive power-wise with the next Xbox if not more powerful, and will sell 3-4x as many units as the next Xbox. You could put 5 guys in this topic in as managers and this would still be the outcome. Nothing to see here.

If they did get some screwball in charge, you'd see the effects with PS*6*.

Yeah, as a brand Playstation is too strong worldwide and people will want to play Spider-man 2, GOW, Ghost of Tsushima and Horizon Zero Dawn 2

Circle the wagons, rally the troops, flood the forums and attack the messenger. SDF don't seem nervous at all lol.

Lol "insider". Hey, I'm an insider and I have some info to share. Maybe I should contact a user here in NeoGAF so that they can share my story.
Yeah just pm one of those aspiring video journalists we have here that write the unnecessarily long and embellished posts with a corny and pretentious thread title.

lol nervous for what? They obviously need to keep working in having a good machine and a decent line up in day one but they dont have any reason to think that they are gonna lose market share when that is almost impossible.

If they didint sell less than 80 million units with their worst and most expensive console released a year later than their rivals when they had their best selling consoles in history, they are never gonna sell less except when the whole console market crash to death.

I just read through the thread, who’s doing that?
All I see is people commenting on what was posted, like any thread.
Article mentions something something of x company in a negative light by motherfucking IbizaPocholo IbizaPocholo who literally just posts all news without bias.

So, just someone reposting the same FUD.
"insider" lol.

Always funny that I know who writes this crap without even needing to click.

We really need a feature to dislike threads.
Is that a microsoft insider?
We already had this trash via gamedaily.biz on 1 Oct 2019

Please don't start new threads for clickbait trash reposting old info

Old thread died for a reason

Fanboy says fanboy things, news at 11.

We get posts like these.
If it is a repost then report it and link the original a mod will look into it. I doubt IbizaPocholo IbizaPocholo did it on purpose.

I’ll give you two out of the four, the two middle ones are very benign and are talking about the article.

My quote was directly quoting the person that constantly trolls Sony threads, I didn’t quote the OP, DaFuq?

Oh yeah lol disregard

I still think it’s silly to act like that’s the narrative of the thread conversation based on what’s really two people that should have been quoted directly.

But hey, these threads will happen like clockwork. These FUD articles happen every next gen season.

Lots of steamy-diaper takes in the thread. I will wait and see when the system is in my living room and what the lineup at the time entails before yelling doom and gloom.
I do find it interesting in a concerning way with how much is going on behind the scenes. Shu is basically one of the last Old Ones left at the Sony Imperial Fortress.

I wasn't referring to the OP (here), but the cited comicbook blog post, which is regurgitating something we read, word by word, from gamedaily.

IbizaPocholo IbizaPocholo simply sees news and posts them, this is known and often appreciated.

I've been nervous over the current state of Sony ever since they moved to Cali. It is still to early to be doom and gloom but I can see why folks could freak out due to the lack of conferences. This transition to the PS5 has been awkward since they have been in essence working on it for the last 2 E3's by not showing us games that will release on the ps4 after the ps5 releases. They really needed to beef up their first party studios numbers more in preparation for the ps5.

I agree that they've been a little quiet as far as shows go but I think the PS5 reveal will be in February and next year they'll have many big stage presences

Since noone else seems to be actually talking about the content...

This is interesting..

One point where Layden and Ryan clashed on was cross-platform services, specifically cross-play. In an interview with Eurogamer from 2017, Ryan defended Sony's then-stance of not allowing cross-play, specifically Minecraft on PlayStation 4, saying the platform has “got to be mindful of our responsibility to our install base. Exposing what in many cases are children to external influences we have no ability to manage or look after, it's something we have to think about very carefully.”

The whole messaging around this seemed very confused so its not surprising it comes down to internal conflict.

also “Another key point that Ryan has wanted to build around is cloud gaming. In June, speaking with the Financial Times, he said it was “really going to start to push” its cloud service PlayStation Now “hard this year and in years to follow” after the service sputtered out of the gates“

As they point out new pricing and titles show the new direction.

This quote .. “This is the least amount of clarity we've ever had on a new console this close to transition,” the source said. “I believe that the [global restructuring] is exponentially exacerbating the already difficult process of transitioning to a new generation. And now we’re getting nervous. Read: very nervous."

I dont think says much about if pS5 will be designed well or not .. should be fine .. but what it does say is Playstation is concerned about price performance vs xbox ( as they are with psnow vs gamepass).

Overall its probably good competition is good and if the devs dont have specific and overy optimistic specs hopefully games at the start of the gen will run well.. unlike last two gens.

Only thing makes me "nervous" about PS5 is Sony solely focus on western games and completely forget about releasing anything from Studio Japan. I like some of their western games but my biggest reason I was in to playstation in the first place because its Japanese games.

Yet they opened up crossplay as well, so there’s that.

I keep thinking that they won't reveal in Feb due to the last of us 2 releasing that month. Hopefully whatever they show us will blow me away with it's world.
I can see that. Maybe they'll push it out a little but I think they can do both in the same month

That won’t stop people from buying the game. It’s already breaking records for preorders.

But it would stop some people from buying the game if they know right before they buy the game that in a few months there will be bigger, better, cheaper version that will release in a few months.

I can see that. Maybe they'll push it out a little but I think they can do both in the same month

It is definitely possible but waiting a few more weeks for folks to have played the game and the sales numbers to come out in order for them to boast and show what is even more possible with the ps5.

Eventually yes, but at the time they were pretty much against it and you can’t tell me the excuse “to protect our player base” wasn’t ridiculous. Did they ever allow cross play on Minecraft?

I’m sure Sony will be fine though, they might lose some friction with third party developers if that confusion comment is to be believe but their first party studios should be rolling.

That’s not what I am saying, goodness.

I responded to the fact that supposedly Ryan and Layden “butting heads” but Layden is gone yet what Ryan supposedly didn’t want (which clearly changed over time), is going in effect under Ryan’s control.

In other words, don’t read too much into internet drama from different time frames of quotes.

I’m not reading too much into it and who knows what the internal politics are like over there. It will be a while before we see, if any ramifications from this shake up but I doubt the stories/articles, mixed with speculation and assumptions will stop.

I mean this dev could be from a major publisher or some small time indie studio.

But hey, about crossplay? Ryan was supposedly against it, it didn’t really say what Layton’s stance was on it which is interesting, because if he was for it and him now gone, I’m wondering if Sony will backtrack or just go with the current flow in supporting crossplay.

Or maybe they were both against it, who knows really unless I miss some tidbit of info.

It’s from the person I quoted. I quoted in the context of the person I quoted from where he heard it from, the bullshit drama article.

If Sony can bounce back from losing billions with the PS3, they can get this management issue together after having one of their most successful generations ever with the PS4

yawn... i don't really care what's happening behind the scenes. i'll judge Sony based on what they sell me.

I'll weigh up what both Sony + Microsoft are offering and decide what console to buy.

i don't get the love some people have for these huge ass companies (unless you're a shareholder). it's a bit scary and creepy.
