Where are you going with this? I am not saying Steam is bad nor evil. I just commented on someone else's post about the state of affairs where people get upset when the benefits of EGS are thrown out for discussion, and then responded to someone else who told me its only 8% instead of 18% savings. But if you want to convince the board that EGS should be shunned for Rockstar's own launcher to save money, by gosh have at it.

When there's an actual benefit to me as a dedicated PC Gamer from all these profit margins let me know Faceless Rando Letter Poster.

The relationships between pubs and EGS because of these profit margins have directly lead to EGS offering you free games.

So wtf am I going to do. Play the second one without knowing anything about the first? Rockstar...

I will pick it up on Steam for the tech if nothing else, but I do wonder whether that points to a release of RDR1 as a remaster using the new tech down the road

I day say you may get wet in the pants at the thought of 'Free Games' but when you've spent a few years in the trenches and have a sizeable backlog already, you feel less inclined to add more shit you're never ever going to play to your digital pile of shame. If I'm interested in a game. I just buy it. If I'm lukewarm about a game, I wait for a sale.

Ask for how EGS benefits consumers. Given straight answer of free games. Say free games not a benefit cause already have too many games. Kinda moving the goal posts there.

Yeah baby! I think we all knew it was coming, just a matter of when ..

Why is everybody crying about the launchers? Like really? First world problems anybody? I have every launcher, they all play games, so who gives a shit .. will definitely be getting this on the R* launcher ..

Not really Faceless Rando Letter Poster. I actually asked about the benefits of the profit margins. The Fortnite money has fuck all to do with what I asked as there's no margin on it as it's Epics own game, that's what's paying for the free games, not the 3rd party sales on EGS. The point is as a gamer I don't give a fuck about the profitability of X over Y versus the user experience. EGS is a BS client with no features of value save (ever decreasing) timed exclusivity despite being out for several months.

For a game like this, arguing over whether the pub will save 8% or 18% is splitting hairs IMO. In either case its millions of dollars being saved.

"Hey board of directors, we might save 18 million by launching on epic a month early, but if we sell a ton of units we might only save 8 million." Yeah, sure, that risk of only saving 8 million sounds awful.
Give me one good reason why I, as a consumer, should give a single iota of a fuck that the publishers, who are already filthy stinking rich, get to save 8%, or even 18%, at the expense of my user experience?

In my opinion, the most overrated game ever released. That is sits at 97% Metacritic is bordering on the absurd.

Controls like absolute ass and is soul crushingly boring. Absolutely no fun whatsoever to play.

That said, I'm sure it will look incredible.

Sadly for you, your opinion is in the minority. :messenger_loudly_crying: :messenger_loudly_crying:

GTAV was unplayable on consoles for me due to the input lag that all systems experienced. The PC version is one of my favorite games ever as the input lag is gone (or at least heavily mitigated by the higher frame rate). RDR2 suffers the exact same input lag, and it makes me hate the game. Here is hoping the PC version fixes it just like it did for GTAV

are in a big trouble
There was a valid question mark over it happening as the original never came to PC, but I think once they announced the Rockstar Launcher there wasn't much doubt.

Launcher or not GTA V made a shit ton of money on the PC why would they not want that type of many again

I am more excited about mods that will try to make the game more historically accurate. We've seen it with some historical strategy games with removed content that would have been deemed controversial.

GTA is a much more popular franchise overall. Plus as noted before they markedly never ported the original game to PC despite peoples expectations that they would. The talk was that was because the original tech was held together with bogeys and string, but for whatever reason, at the time they clearly didn't feel it was worth the effort to bring it to the PC market.

Yeah and they solved that issue with GTA so why not. Just because the first one didn't but all there other games after the fact did go on pc.

Popular or not its Rockstar games and it's Red Red people will double dip. It may not sell like GTA but it will make its money

Epic money running dry.

I expect the price tag was pretty steep. After all, with these exclusivity deals, Epic has been essentially been paying on projected sales and making up the shortfall. I predict Fortnite will be getting a whole bunch of new skins soon. 🤔

I've been waiting for this! Adding to my buy list for the year, already have the PS4 version but stopped due to controls. Mouse and Keyboard here I come!

But GTAV on PC had the same input lag at launch, they solved it some time later. I just hope its doesnt happen with RDR.

It wasn't until I shared this thread on my Facebook that I noticed it said "Red Red" after another friend of mine pointed it out, lmao.

After much thought, I'm double dipping on this SO hard. I absolutely loved it, even if the middle of the game kind of lulled out. It just took a little bit of pushing, and then it immediately became amazing IMO.

The thing I'm curious about is with RDR not being on PC, how are they going to approach that? Well, and are they? :pie_thinking:

I know for awhile people wondered if RDR was going to be remade within RDR2, which sounds bizarre but I know for a bit there were some strange things going on in-game.

He ain´t moving nothing bro. Just because you find value on a gift, it doesn´t mean it has intrinsic value and should be a benefit to everybody.

Actually I can argue that such things can be detrimental, because if every store has to give away free games, the quality and pricing of their service might take a hit, and for what?, worse services for the people that are not interested on free games, (95% of the users of the EGS).

Finally, despite RDR1 never making it, it would have been dumb to not release it on PC.

Also LOL, you know it's a Rockstar game when Epic can only afford a month of exclusivity

Nice. This game will be fun for the mods. I want a conversion that model swaps star wars characters and weapons. You could have an old-fashioned horseback shootout with storm troopers riding horses with the TIE fighter sound effect.

I hope for this PC version :

  • unlocked framerate
  • 4k high res textures
  • more detailed environment
  • extended view distance
  • more npcs
  • more vegetation
  • better shadows
  • more extensive ambient occlusion
  • water and reflections much more elaborate
  • better effects
  • up to 8k resolution
  • possibility of ray tracing
  • better optimization

Imagine not playing because of a launcher 😭

The Epic Games Store, just like Steam, Origin, UPlay and GOG are not launchers, they are platforms which provides bundles of different technologies that provides the customers a way to buy games/dlcs and to play them. However, the bundles of technologies in the Epic Store platform are way inferior to Steams technologies.

It literally says "Steam, The Ultimate Online Game Platform" here: https://store.steampowered.com/about/

There's no "Steam, The Ultimate Online Game Launcher".

However, it's not just about the technologies in the Epic Store being worse people don't like, but Epic's business practice of 3rd party exclusive games. Which have never and should never be a thing on PC.

Maybe pick it up after launch, via steam. If it turns out to be a decent port.

How does it compare gameplay wise to the previous game?

It's considerably worse in every aspect. But, the game looks amazing, the voice acting is phenomenal and the overall production is stellar. As an actual game, though? Crap. Just my opinion, and I'm in the minority.

Well if you've played both, then it's valid. Did you enjoy the previous one?
