Destiny 2 Shadowkeep (OT4) Free Stuff For Everybody!

I gotta say this is a game that totally invalidates critical reviews, even Forsaken proved that with how much free extra content you got past the DLC release. But with both DLCs critics are reviewing it prior to the scheduled release of the Raid, arguably the most important piece of content in it. Their views are so irrelevant in a game constantly giving us more.

Oh man, this third encounter is wearing me down, and making bad mistakes. Really wish my team would watch a video to see better strats :messenger_loudly_crying:

I don't know how you had it in you to go for 12 hours straight in the first place. Let alone all 6 of you guys.

Well, we got to the third encounter, which apparently is good progress for console players. Will beat this before the 15th so some can get the raid jacket from Bungie. Fatigue has set in after 13 hours

Isn't part of the fun trying to figure out the best strats for yourselves?

At least, upon the release of a new raid.
After a couple of runs I'd want people to know the drill too. Lol

The Actual Vex offensive mode in the black garden player space is the most loot generous activity in this game. I get like 6 legendaries per run. It as if they took the menagerie loot glitch feedback and continued with the charity.

Yea, you can pick up specific weapon bounties from Ikora, and forge all at once if you want (weapons drop from boss kill).... but there’s chests that drop the new Vex loot ... and they drop from strong enemies.

They really did an excellent job with the soundtrack this expansion and season. I felt forsaken was seriously lacking in that area where Vanilla d2 had an incredible soundtrack as well. You’ll get a bunch of stuff too... perk arrangements are unique.

I think they’re gonna remove mercury from the game ...

I'm liking the latest Shadowkeep expansion so far
Many QoL improvements, like the finally easy again infusions, I was waiting for a return to basics since forever, now just need an item and you are done, very good
Liking the finishers too, nice Doom vibes, and the preview in the menu, who shows a robot with martial arts pads made me smile
The plot is ok I think, nothing special but Yeah for the pyramid thing finally here
I don't think We'll see the darkness race tho, at least now, Bungie will Probably drop hints in time, one year from now until d3 arrives

But I put my two cents of the anonthenine infos to be still correct and not be retconned after Activision thing, everything points toward darkness powers, new race and such

I don't like the new guardian menu tho, that sparrow in the background is a punch in the eye
And I've yet to try the new modes

New intro? Different from the shadowkeep one?

There was the Vex trailer that popped upon start up yesterday...

I just realized shadowkeep has no trophies or achievements... did rise of iron? The game it’s own in-game achievement tracker that is a more of a concern to me so it was easy to not notice

I don’t like damage perks on guns for pvp. I don’t rely on them as they aren’t always proc’d. However feeding frenzy and kill clip on these rapid-fire frame pulses ... so good

Everything anonthenine said became true. Everything. Even bad juju. We are moving towards a dark guardian storyline... then again I’m sure all conceptual ideas for the game are on the table.

The only thing that I believe changed since then... is the split from Activision. So... the d3 plans ... I expect them to have been revamped to be D2 plans. It all depends on how successful New Light is IMO.

It’s clear to me, that regardless of me loving what’s we’re getting...the moon was not part of the original plan. We were originally and will (probably within the year or next) be going back to the dreadnaught. All the original d2 ending location teases are a thing that will happen.

What I fear the most is this, in fact : D3 revamped to be D2 new content

I absolutely want a new game to start with from scratch, more like it was with D2
Wouldn't ever be the same, if they make D2 the new everlasting base game

New classes, races, planets, weapons, planets with working ecosystems like in Metroid Prime, with more or less dangerous creatures roaming around, playable fallen, much more accurate character creation and customizing, dual wielding, chance to edit character appearance paying an in game currency amount ( to make it more valuable) many games do so
New vehicle to roam around with, like the sparrow
Less material hunts
More coop exciting features to do in battle, to add further team / Avengers like cooperation vibes ( just look at the live action trailers), much better graphics and physics, on ps5 ofc

Music is perfect, so proceed this way
Much more particular and weird weapons, better exotics, less class dispair and much more ways to make each class a joy to play with, with more uniqueness to each one of them

Oh and please restore the tower appearance to what it was in D1, or at least make a new, bigger and better looking one, with many side activities and maybe minigames to do there, to make it more than a break to unlock engrams and sell / buy stuff
Maybe give us a guardian personal room to customize with medals and trophies?
I'd Also ask for a drivable guardian ship, but maybe would really be too much to have airship Battle missions, would become Battlefront lol

I don’t even think the need for D3 is facilitated by console hardware.

Supporting larger instanced environments is a huge obstacle... and compared to its competitors ... Bungie handles it better than all of them.

One of the reasons I’m sometimes impressed by fallout is that it’s 24 players in one instance. Memory and server load is pushed far as hell with that game. Stability is an issue.

They’re partnering with Microsoft to offload game data, like shader icons, public spaces, floating time in orbit, Etc... into the cloud. Or items of that nature since it’s the only realistic things you could maybe do right now.

The game currently looks amazing on high end PCs. So it will move into next gen well with 4k 60 as standard.

I miss comp. survival fucking sucks (I’ll probablu start liking it once I adapt tho cuz I’m not used to playing it at all...)

That and f2p players are polluting the playlists. I bet you’re probably better off not playing in solo queue at the moment.

Goddamnitb

Ps - dual primary meta is back... I’m about to run blast furnace and a hand canon to be an asshole.

Vanilla veterans will rise to the top this season

Ps - the sandbox is actually in a good place for pvp imo. The drop off nerfs to handcanons didn’t ruin the feel of any of them. In fact, some bloom changes made them better. And the new ranges for the sandbox makes sense.

Altho... scouts seem a bit too strong. I’m getting out flinched out of my sniper game more regularly now. So my handcanon sniper loadout seems a bit weak now.

Still need bigger maps.

I'm a bit confused, I haven't bought the dlc but I'm doing the story on the moon? What exactly does the dlc get you?

Or is the start on the moon the only thing?

I'm a little fuzzy about this, but for u to earn high light gear, you don't need to have be wearing all the highest light stuff on you right? just having them in the inventory (not storage) is good enough, correct?

That's right but from what I read even what is in your vault counts.
"Your highest light level for purposes of dropping loot is calculated using all gear that you can possibly equip on that character, be it currently equipped, in your inventory, in the vault, etc "

First mission is free to all players. I think f2p players get access to all patrol zones in some form.

-Trophies, ROI did have a few for sure (As I'm still missing the ring the bells trophy)
-Damage perks on pulses have always been good, but I think nobody enjoyed using them before the recent buffs. I have a FF/Rampage Blast Furnace that could rip through people.

I didn't play much crucible at all the last season and a half after getting Luna the first season it was available so I'm rusty in comp, but playing a few games of Survival 3s was AWFUL. FTP players that come from games where you run around like a chicken with their heads cut off so that my first death is an elimination is not fun. Solo que may need to be avoided for the first few weeks while it weeds off some of these players.

I need to play with other HCs more, but Luna feels even worse (Not that it had great range after the last nerf). Got an ok roll on the Vex HC I need to try, may just bust out my max range Service Revolver and see if it still holds up. Scouts and PR still cause way to much flinch. Trying to snipe and getting show with a pulse from across the map should not cause my guy to have a seizure.

Sadly no, Adventures (If you mean the orange flag things on the map) were never a challenge and were supposed to be stuff you did as you leveled to get drops to improve you. With the 750 LL raise, I'd imagine those have no value to be run at all. I only remember one on Nessus that at least set up the character in which the first raid is based on.

Can I get an invite to the ps4 guild? PSN is superstrokey1123

Sent a ps4 FR, I can just send an invite in game to you, or you can click the link in the OP for PS4 Clan (They are in the process of merging into that one overall) and we'll approve you that way

I kept playing thinking its got to get harder soon, thanks for saving me more time. So is this game all about then strikes then and the story what there is of it is a complete waste of time ?

7 hours in but doing the main campaign as i dont have a clue what i'm doing outside of the campaigns. The game is very overwhelming for new players, i think they could of done a better job of explaining the game for new players.
Destiny 2 vets say the problem is the Steam version and the way they have unlocked everything instead of having a few things open and having to grind to open new stuff. I'm sure the old way would of been easier for new players.

Unless they changed it, I think there is an exotic reward for finishing the Red War Campaign, Strikes, Story, PVP or Gambit, along with Access to the Yr 1 Raid and two raid lairs is kind of the lump of the FTP content, the only thing that is a complete waste are those adventures TBH

I can see that. Last year I deleted all my D1 content to start over again (I love that game) and if I didn't know the order that the story follows it would be very similar. The game is kind of designed in a way that you just need to play the campaign in order (Red War-Curse of Osiris-Warmind), bumping everybody to 750 removed the need to run strikes and other things like we originally had. As in originally we had to be a certain level to access missions.

Thanks for that because i read on Steam is was Red War - Warmind - Curse of Osiris. I'm still on the main campaign so i'll start Curse of Osiris next.
My post though, i was talking more about outside the campaigns. Its like i flew to Mars and a couple of other planets and there were firefights going on all round me, markers that are different missions, icons all over the screen when i use that 343 guilty spark thing, NPC's with other quests and bounties and challenges etc lol. It just felt like being thrown into the deep end with little guidance.

Had you owned D2 Vanilla as a disc? Not sure I've seen this come up in Destiny before. I have swapped before from a physical to digital game and had that issue, but Destiny is a server based title so it shouldn't matter there.

Oh sure I get that now. If you haven't found a guide of sorts. The white diamond icons in the zones are "Patrols" they give XP and are usually just quick 5 minute tasks you do for glimmer, xp and sometimes you get a drop. The blue flags are usually quests from your questlog, Blue diamonds are public events, those are basically going on quite often on most planets. They are a 5-10 minute little battle that results in xp, glimmer and a chest with a chance at drops. Orange shields are the adventures...don't do those :). Some out of the map icons are Shield-these are strikes that can be launched, Blue crown is for exotic quests, there is another for raid activities. There are many more I can't think of, if you highlight those they will show you the info too.

Thanks for that. Can i quickly just ask you about the currency and the stuff you get when you dismatle stuff?. It says you can upgrade weapons (and i guess armour), where do you do that?, and are there any venders that you can buy and sell from?. I found one in the Temple, and one in that camp in the EDZ, but they didnt really have much to buy.

EDIT. Also in the campaign, i'm looking around for collectables and chests and stuff but not finding any, am i wasting my time lol?. I get the feeling there arent any, in the campaigns anyway.

This game is at its best when playing with others to help explain or figure out what’s going on. I was right there with Dtomp in being overwhelmed by map icons when restarting D1, so I understand the pain. Kinda went through it last night after finishing Shadowkeep story and looking at all my incomplete quests.

There will be planetary vendors that you can turn in stuff you find on their planets, (Planetary Materials) for engrams, or use Legendary shards, which come from dismantling legendary guns or gear. Glimmer is one of the components of "Infusing" or leveling your weapons up by putting a stronger one into a weaker one. To upgrade you highlight the gun or armor in your inventory and click on details (Triangle on PS4, not sure what button on PC), then on guns under weapon mods you highlight the furthest left box and it will give you a list of what you would need to infuse the weapon up (Including a gun that is higher to put into it), 2nd box is masterworking, costs more materials as well, and on a gun when fully maxed (Lv10) when you kill 2 enemies in quick succession it drops an Orb or Light (to build super energy quicker), and the last box is for weapon mods (get them by dismantling guns with it, or buying from tower vendor). Armor has changed this DLC so there are alot more materials for leveling that up, as well as needing to get the mods to drop into your inventory from chests or vendor RNG drops.

Exploration is fine, there isn't a ton to find however. An object that can be scanned here or there. Materials are easier to find once you get a ghost that has "Insert Planet Here Finder" for materials and chests cause then they show up on your hud when you are within distance of them

Played Vex Offensive finally, not bad, and at the same time sad that it'll likely be only here for the season. Bungie, can we please just take away Escalation Protocol instead? However VO is great if folks are looking to level up slots that are behind, 3 chests, lots of ads so good chances for new guns, gear and materials.

I have a problem
I have to purify the essence of torment, but I can't find it at all in my menus, wtf? It only shows the mission " purify it" and it says I can see it in the navigation menu, but...

Update: partially solved, I discovered that if you have not enough space in the quests section, you cannot receive the essence of anguish, then the quest is blocked
Some say it should appear in a day tho

I’m curious to see how Vex offensive will evolve over the next few weeks. It could use a difficult spike, some modifiers and rotating bosses; which I assume is the minimum we’re getting.

We do know that there will be a “final assault” against the undying mind. I suppose it could also be Story content.

Supposedly the dungeon may have its own loot tables. We know of the pulse rifle so far but it seems Bungie has finally been able to hide things from dataminers as there’s like 6 or so weapons still grayed out in the in-game weapon lists.

I'm enjoying the finishers more and more, as the time passes
Add a nice stylish element to battles, and the cure is pleasant
Just look at the sparring robot who makes the karate salute before preview lol

Feel like our guardians underwent some serious martial arts training to handle enemies their asses, awesome
