Dragon Age 4 is at least 3 years away.

I don't think a single RPG player is looking forward another Dragon Age or any EA game.
They demonstrated 4 times in a row with DA:2, DA:Inq, ME3 and ME:A they have absolutely not the talent or even the will to deliver something good.

Anyway Anthem will be the last nail in Bioware coffin.

lol Speak for you

Let's just take a minute here as well to just remember how dense EA is. One of the most loved games of the last 15 years Knights of the Old Republic was made by Bioware who they own, they have the Starwars license. Yet they don't make a new KotOR. Although to be honest I don't think I want current Bioware to make a KotOR I'm sure it would be terrible.

After the leaked description of the previous Dragon Age 4 that sounded absolutely amazing, and was cancelled because EA didn't like how it wasn't monetized to hell and back or a GaaS title, I have zero hope this game will be good.
It's a fucking shame, innit? The original concept sounded like something I really would have wanted to play and after Trespasser the grand plot was left at a really interesting place. But if it's Anthem-like GaaS bullshit, it will be a hard pass for me, even as very much a fan of the series.

Inquisition was just horribly boring. Vast landscapes filled with MMO-like fetchquest grinding. ugh.
Andromeda and Anthem.... yeah, no further comment needed on those two.

I honestly think it's more likely that the developers shut down before this game comes out. Or right after, because after they wrecked their rep so hard, who is going to buy it?

Hopefully 3 years away means they are actually trying to improve the game and go back to the roots of the game and what made it successful which was Dragon Age Origins.

I have little faith in Bioware at this point but I still have a sliver of hope for this game.

I don't even care anymore about anything bioware does.

The last dragon age game I actually enjoyed was 1. 2 was worse in every way, 3 was even worse than that. Hell the last time bioware even made a good game was mass effect 2.

I'm hoping for a DAO remaster, I tried to play it again last night after a couple of years, and it hasn't aged well. Though I do like the gameplay, it was pretty much Bioware's last old-school isometric game.

DA2 was a huge departure from 1, but I'll let them off as EA made them rush it on a tight budget.

DA3 was ambitious and although I really disliked it at first, I found it alright to kill 30 hours. Still, nowhere near as good as DA1 but It was alright.

I'm hoping they bring back the dark gritty world with dark humour and an oldschool approach to RPG's, where you have to think about what you're doing VS running in and doing whatever, knowing you're invincible anyway

It feels like this game is only taking so long since EA is putting so much pressure on this to become a bigger hit. The game was at its best when it wasn't to panned to be some huge developer studio title. It felt like a love project and was so great as DAO. DA:I was OK and DA2 was meh. The games feel like they immediately chased after something else rather than sticking to what made people love the game(new IP) to begin with.

These guys have released 6 turds in a row

DAII
SWTOR
ME3
DA:I
ME:A
Anthem

The best thing in that pile is ME3, which is a 7/10.

Who still has faith in these guys? Good BioWare is long gone. Go replay BG2 instead.

Man, i forgot about SWTOR. What a way to piss your fanbase off.

It's as if companies want a new wave of gamers that will swallow mtx and just get on with it because shiny flashy graphics

Bioware is dead to me. They had one of the best RPG's of the 2000's with DA:O and decided to completely change one of the best combat systems they had created.

The story in that game was amazing too and they had more than just good/bad decisions. FUCK that game was good.

This thread is brutal, but deserved. I have no faith in this studio at all. They need to earn some trust back by shipping a working, decent game.

Dragon Age is a series that got progressively worse with every iteration. I couldn't even bring myself to finished Inquisition, was just too boring. Even the first game had issues, with really odd pacing and clunky UI. The second one had one of the worst boss fights I ever suffered through, incredibly repetitive and boring. Only challenge was not to fall asleep while running circles around the Arishok.

If the next game is more like inquisition and less like andromeda I'm game. Don't get the hate for inquisition. Was good.
Those are both the same, only DAI has shitty combat. I don't get how anyone can hate on MEA being garbage but don't hate DAI for the exact same reasons. Half baked disjointed open world collecthaton dogshit where 82% of the content is bottom of the barrel cheap time wasting tripe, coupled with YA novel tier writing and shitty dialogue.

Literally the only difference it feels like is that DAI got astroturfed to GOTY by reviewers and places like oldgaf while MEA got memed to death on yt a month before release even though ppl like Shinobi tried to shill that shit the same way here. Creating a positive perception really spitshines a turd it seems. Oh and some funny bugs. Woohoo.

I played both and I agree. Although I don't have as much hate for DAI as MEA. I think the reason is DA2 was literally the worst game I have ever played and after that I was so desperate for a good Dragon Age RPG that DAI was actually good compared to that.

Yea, I wont be in a rush for any Bioware games after Anthem. I found Inquisition pretty enjoyable, but I just don't believe in the studio anymore.

I disagree. From what I've read, it was clearly a new IP, running on an engine just not made for what they were trying to do and those things effect titles, that doesn't mean every last game by the studio will be like that. Its an over exaggeration of one of their lessor moments. Dragon Age isn't a new IP, isn't running on a engine they are not familiar with and its not seeking to do something the engine can't do. Dragon Age Inquisition ran on Frostbite. So I see no reason to suddenly think, Anthem will hurt Dragon Age.

On that note, its a day 1 for me. If its anything like Dragon Age 1 or 3, its an easy buy.

Why does a Dragon Age game need a AAA budget? IMO it is a smaller series with what is likely to be smaller sales, so why not just make it a smaller game? Giving a giant team $50M+ to work on one of these for 4 straight years is just asinine. They could just pull a Bethesda and use last gen's engine with some new tweaks and then focus the team entirely on the content and not the technical aspects. But I assume I also have no idea what the fuck I'm talking about.

Good.
For better or worse they definitely have their A team working on Anthem. If we get another Dragon Age I want them to try and make it as good as possible and if Andromeda is any sign, then giving it to the inexperienced B team isn't the way

Quoting myself to make fun of my naive self from late last year who thought there was such a thing as an "A" team in modern """"""Bioware""""""

Whatever happens, it won't be an oldschool RPG. It'll be a gamble-a-thon of lootboxes, woke scripts, shit jokes, tired clichés and running around an uneccessarily large, open-world map for fetch quests, just to pad the time out to make it feel like a 'big' game.

Dragon Age 4 is going to be so woke, after playing it for 5 minutes, you’re going to start eating bugs as your sole source of protein, and only get erections when you see a jar filled with worms.

So basically we become male worms while jacking off to hot female worms with little to no dirt on.

I welcome this worm based future.

How is this going to work? A new protagonist again? If Solas is going to be the big bad this time, it'd make more sense if the Inquisitor is the protagonist. They have a connection, a new main character doesn't.

Still no faith this will work out. Bioware has wasted many chances already.

Exactly. Could care less about Dragon Turds.

Given what happens at the end of Trespasser, I doubt we'll see the Inquisitor as the main protagonist. It would make life considerably hard for archer rogues at least, short of advanced prosthetics suddenly appearing in Thedas.

But yeah, no high hopes for this. The original leaked concept for DA4 sounded cool, but if they're going the live service route along the lines of Anthem, you can count me out.
