Fortnite star Ninja says bans shouldn't apply to "content creators" like Faze Jarvis - Green Man Gaming Newsroom

Ninja, real name Richard Tyler Blevins, states that he believes cheating rules shouldn’t affect “content creators” like Faze Jarvis and presumably, Blevins himself.

Don’t think that Blevins is arguing for a total removal of consequences for cheating in-game, however, as he recommends that bans such as this remain enforced for regular “piece of ****” kids.

There’s a difference between a content creator who has millions of subscribers, who then gets banned from what makes him money, and some kid who is just a piece of **** who has zero followers, zero money from gaming and hacks,” Blevins stated.

“You ban that kid and nothing happens to him. Nothing happens. Oh no! He can’t cheat any more. You ban Jarvis – it’s different.

Personally I think this is the wrong attitude to have. If you make money doing something you should be extra careful to not get banned from that thing, but hey what do I know?

I think he's wrong. Respect the rules of the game you're playing as put forth by the creators. Earning money from a game doesn't make you exempt from the rules or any different from a "piece of **** kid". Wow, this sounds like a ridiculously entitled perspective. Incredibly skewed and narcissistic. I didn't dig too much into the situation, but the kid was cheating on public servers (I mean, no choice because it's Fortnite) and was ruining the experience of other players.

Doesn't matter if you're a big streamer or a random player, the outcome of the situation is all the same. It's not like someone is going to be okay with their Fortnite experience being ruined because it's a "popular streamer" cheating, rather than some random person.

Kid got what he deserve. I don't care about his crocodile tears dramatic YouTube video. You were actively cheating. Why not create a video talking about cheating and how it works and what it does. Maybe get creative with it in a way where you're NOT just straight up cheating in a game for the sake of content.

The high profile professional streamers should be setting the example for their impressionable young audience, they have a responsibility to be seen doing the right thing. They are not exempt from the rules, quite the opposite and should they not respect those rules then they should lose that priveledge of getting paid to play games. If a pro sportsman gets caught cheating they lose their job and get banned, simple. If these people want to be seen as professionals they should act like professionals.

What a weird take. Why does Ninja feel it is the developers' job to protect a streamer's cash flow, even if that streamer is doing things that is objectively harmful to the game experience? Why is the streamer's ability to make money more important than the rules everyone agrees to when they play the game?

How far do we take this? Like can the developer introduce a patch that changes the "meta" and nerfs the character a prominent streamer is good at? After all if he gets worse maybe people won't watch him anymore. And how much income does a streamer have to make before he is declared immune to the rules everyone else has to play by?
