Hideo Kojima says Death Stranding is a reaction to 'Trump and Brexit'

I don't think this is the goal at all. Kojima say he wants people to THINK about connection, not to necessarily bring people together. Its a broad statement that is left open-ended. It's meant for the individual player to interpret and take from it what they will.

Your reaction to it is symptomatic of a closed mind, and for that, you may not get much from the game at all in terms of it's message.
So because someone built a bridge or left a ladder or a bike behind to make traversal easier, the player will start contemplating “connection”? I think that's expecting too much from a video game. Most players will either simply see these things as a means to an end or an annoyance because it makes the game easier (or misleads them). I can't really see someone sitting there and thinking deeply about a ladder, which may or may not be there the next time they boot up the game, and getting philosophical about connections.

I mean when you put so simply, sure I guess it would look far fetched. Thing is the game is not that simple. There's an entire story behind this it's combination of that story and the interactions you have with other players. You can benefit (or apparently get trolled) within the context of these interactions. The mechanic exists as a subtle reminder that though you may feel alone in this journey...that your success can be attributed, in part to the actions of others, whether you like it or not, whether you want to acknowledge it or not.

People who choose to, will think deeply about that.

How can this game be inspired by Trump? Hasn’t he been making this game for five years? Trump’s only been president for two years and nine months

(not sure if my numbers are correct)

Even if he’s only been making the game for three years. It’s impossible to have known how Trump would be as president

It's not what he was saying, it was a clickbait title because he mentioned an example of division with people.

He name dropped Trump for some needed clout and buzz.

I thought Kojima was smarter than that. Guess not. Disappointing. Globalism will never work. You will never get different cultures and religions to integrate with each other. They are trying to force something that goes contrary to human nature and it will fail every time.

How's the gaming scene over there?
Pretty great, Tekken got a huge boost thanks to Arslan and Counter-Strike is better than ever. Call of duty is also picking up thanks to Mountain dew handing out Sponsorships so overall it's still developing but better than what we got 10 years ago.

That's nice to hear. People here are barely interested in anything beyond Tekken and annual sports game 2000.

Wow I sure want to play your already divisive "game" now, what a better way to promote unification than to throw political divisiveness into the mix by taking sides against Trump trying to protect the sovereignty our nation and Brexit trying to do the same for theirs.

A true genius folks...

Genuine question - Is this how most Americans view Trump and Brexit?
