Here’s the complete list of Final Fantasy games coming to the service:
  • Final Fantasy VII
  • Final Fantasy VIII: Remastered
  • Final Fantasy IX
  • Final Fantasy X: HD Remastered
  • Final Fantasy X-2: HD Remastered
  • Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age
  • Final Fantasy XIII
  • Final Fantasy XIII-2
  • Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII
  • Final Fantasy XV

However, speaking to members of the press at X019 earlier today, Microsoft’s gaming chief, Phil Spencer, said that the company plans to bring Final Fantasy 14 to the service at a later date. “I wanted you to know, rest assured that we will be bringing that game to Xbox,” said Spencer. “We have a great relationship with Yoshida-san and we’re working through what it means to bring [to Xbox] a cross-platform MMO that they’ve run for years.”

This kind of relaxed, no-investment way to dip into loved retro games, is the best.

This should be awesome for FF fans wanting to rediscover some memories, or newer fans looking to make new ones.

They could have had it day one if Microsoft wasn't against cross-play.

No idea why MS gets a pass on this.

I guess a decade late is better than nothing. It's quite possibly the best game in the franchise.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
I own all of these, but damn

I was considering buying X(X-2) and XII during the next winter sale.
So I’ll wait (already have them on PS4)
Amazing news.

This is a pleasant surprise, I was planning on buying these and still might eventually but that’s pretty awesome that they are coming to Gamepass as well.

Maybe FFType0 will pop up on it one day as well.

I've seen a lot of salt about this particular announcement online from PlayStation 4 PlayStation 4 players.

Seems it wasn't enough that the Xbox One Xbox One can play the XIII trilogy, but now Game Pass users are getting them "for free".

To be fair though, sure feels like Square Enix is leaving a lot of money on the table not packaging these three games together for PS4.

Sony gamers pay top dollar for FF games. SE will churn them out one at a time.

Xbox is a brand skewed to countries like US/Canada/UK/Aussie where I don't think Japanese centric games do as well, so heck, if sales potential isn't great, might as well take a pay out from MS and let Xbox gamers play for $1.

It's like beer.

You can be at a ball game and a beer is $12. There's buyers.

But some won't touch a beer there. They'll grab a hot dog a Coke outside the stadium for $4. They grab a beer when they get home which costs $1.50.

I feel like if Square Enix announced today that Final Fantasy XIII was coming to PS4 (just the first game, not the sequels) for $40 each it'd just enrage people even more that Xbox players were getting to "play for $1".

Translation: It's still not coming to Xbox One, but the next Xbox might be a good fit.

Well for a starter none of the XIII games were ever remastered, they are just the 360/PS3/PC games as originally released. The PSX trilogy 7-9 are budget digital releases, X/X2 are a single release, which leaves XII and XV which are both mid-price offerings at this point. Much like the Witcher3 inclusion, its all good stuff but objectively if you had any interest in these you'd very likely have them already.

It seems epic, but you're actually saving a lot less than you'd think from the looks.

You could say that about any block buster game but its still cool and honestly xbox players can revist these games or play them for the first time. More fans is great.
