American millennials' mental and physical health is on the decline — and they're on track to die faster than Gen X

smh blaming others for his own actions like a typical millennial

Bruh I agreed with you and pointed out why the quality of food has dropped and you got triggered and went off on a tangential woe is millennials whine, ironically bolstering the stereotype.
Were you the one who said food quality dropped because of divorces or was that the other guy?

Edit: OR NOT GUY. I MEANT NOT GUY.

Divorces? Sounds like you misunderstood what I said, got PTSD from your own parents' divorce and went into meltdown mode.

Here's my post again. Try reading it again. Or maybe sleep on it and sober up first. Or don't, I don't care.

The quality of food has dropped because the family unit now consists of two people competing to fill the masculine provider role with no reciprocal nurturer.

Yeah. What in the HELL does that have to do with carcinogenic preservatives in foods that didnt exist before fifteen years ago?

And I'm not really that drunk. Please stop concern trolling, yes please, thanks and welcome.

It has been longer than 15 years. At some point in the last half century, we as a society decided that a woman's primary role was in the workplace alongside the men. This took her out of the nurturing role in the home in which she would be preparing fresh meals every day and led to the proliferation of the preservatives and highly processed foods you are complaining about. Poor nutrition leads to poor gut health which leads to poor mental health. I agreed with you about this being a problem, but you threw a tantrum when I pointed out the reason for it. You can't solve a problem you don't understand, so if you don't want to understand it, all you're left with is complaining.

You're right about the health, wrong about the women, but you know what?
You wanna hurt me? Go right ahead if it makes you feel any better. I'm an easy target. Yeah, you're right. I talk too much. I also listen too much. I could be a cold-hearted cynic like you, but I don't like to hurt people's feelings. Well, you think what you want about me. I'm not changing. I like me. My wife likes me. My customers like me. 'Cause I'm the real article. What you see is what you get.

The fuck are you talking about, Tyler? :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Tell me I'm wrong but can't explain why, just throw out pop culture references to deflect. Such a millennial, smh.
Lol, I'll take that one. Not that you're right, but I'm definitely just fucking with you at this point.

Edit: bedtime for bonzos over here.

Spoilers for Millenials....we check your social media history when you apply for jobs, and I if detect even a hint of social justice bullshit, I'm not hiring you because you're more trouble than your worth. Grow the fuck up and you'll have easier time in the real world.

Were you aiming this at me? I don't talk about politics... even on here.

Fair point though because I'd do the same.

Stop drinking so much sugary soy lattes and sitting on your asses all day millennials. You're killing yourselves. Literally. Or keep pretending you're depressed because of Tr*mp and other nonsense. None of my concern.
Wonder how many millennials out there are actually depressed compared to ones that make themselves depressed by reading bad news on twitter all day.

'So good news all around then.

It'll be even worse for the zoomers. Healthcare and housing costs continue to rise, productivity goes up but wages stagnate, the rich get richer but the poor get poorer.

Pensions will be unfulfilled, social security will wither away, the labor force will start to decline but as long as I got memes nothing is gonna get to me

I think not.

From what I see the Zoomers are a counterculture (like all cultures) and they are individualistic, independent and work hard.
If that is true, they might have it a lot easier than any other recent generation since the zoomers would not have to compete all that hard to surpass their previous generation, aka the millenials.

Lol, yeah sure. Every zoomer I work with sits and does nothing at work, watching the clock or their phone, then gets mad when a manager or our boss tells them to do anything. A lot of zoomers seem to have this idea in their head that if you attend a job, you should get paid, no work required on their end. Feels great having to do the work they get paid for, I tell you what!

I guess your anecdote and mine are at odds, eh?

Hey, I'm not trying to be combative here, only posting what I've seen.

The REALLY big issue ive seen amongst zoomers is they are GOD AWFUL at math and some can also barely read. If the downfall of millenials is/was the collapse of the stock market when they came of age to enter the workforce, the downfall of zoomers will most surely be the haphazard changes that have been made to the education system. As a child of a teacher who taught for the past 40+ years, at this point, the school's only care about numbers, not about knowledge retention, stating "the kids will learn it later". Lol, yeeeeeeeah, no they wont. They just end up uneducated unless they good will hunting that shit themselves at this point.

I’m a gen-x guy and we ate bad food and generally came from single parent homes, but we worked. I’ve noticed that illegals do all the pick up jobs that teenagers used to do. Even most first jobs in restaurants or retail are harder to get for young kids now. You must, I repeat must do physical work as a male at some point in your life. Not going to the gym for aesthetic gains, but going to the construction site and move cinder blocks, dig ditches, spread concrete. It is part of your development. And not a physical weekend project, an actual job.

No way. I'm better off as an individual where my first job is a salary job out of college, than that shit, lol.

A man is measured by his ability to earn. Get money or....lol, who would consider any other alternative.
Yeeeeah, no way. Maybe for you but I measure men by more than their wallets. Thats...a pretty fucked up view of the world, even if you're in the majority, and very symptomatic of why things are going to hell in a hand basket.

Tldr: thanks for only caring about money. You're a big part of the problem, in my eyes.

How do you measure these men? 🤔📏

I agree. A real man is a type of guy like lineman, electrician, mason, construction worker etc.
Funny matt thought of this as thoughtful.
I worked as a lineman for two years.
Been in construction too.
Done fieldwork as well as mentioned earlier, worked in a literal sweatshop making Mardi gras decorations with illegal immigrants in someone's garage for a buck.
What now, sucka?!
Am I BLOWING YOUR MIND?!?!?

Imagine a world...where you can work as hard as a slave...and still get fucking nowhere...

Integrity.
Giving a fuck about your fellow man.
Even the most self serving sociopath, if intelligent, sees that, if society benefits, they too as part of society benefit also.

Basically, when I hear people obsessed with their own wellbeing, financial or otherwise, and stepping on heads to get there or ignoring others in pain, I see worms, not men, despite their dollar value.

My congrats to you for all the work you've been into.
But why didn't you stay as a lineman? That's one of the best paid blue collar jobs in any country.

I moved to another state. The other reason was I started becoming extremely paranoid I was going to explode my arm off in bad weather and decided it might nor be what i want to do for the rest of my life. I have, what I consider, a large skillset and wanted to see what I might be capable of doing something I actually like, not just something I'm good at.

Its not a great choice but I suppose it is something I could easily fall back on if I took the menial amount of time and effort to get certified here but I'll be honest; as counterproductive as it has been to me as a person, I live by the mantra to never do ANYTHING in life if your basing the decision solely on money. It always compromises you and is a form of control over you and I fucking hate it.

So yeah, I'm poorish but happier and alot more safe in my work at this point. The pay was EXTREMELY good though. Had I not lived in silicon valley at the time (I know, fulfilling the stereotype), it may have made a difference but there, I could basically afford bare bones living.

My one claim to fame is I am and always have been debt free. I refuse to let money have anymore control over me than i have to to surivive.

I envy you bruh. I've always wanted to be a lineman but it's very hard to get in because in my country it's basically just one company owned by the government that does distribution and transmission. And since it's government pay, everybody wants in because of the benefits. I come from a family of lineman, my dad's a lineman as well as his cousins. It's different here, in Croatia, we don't have apprenticeships like in the USA to become a lineman. I went 3 years in high school and my trade is lineman (distribution and transmission). And after school, it's very difficuilt to get a job as a lineman because it's just one company and you have to pull many strings and favours to get in. I hope to get in before 30.
I think it's the best job in the world. Climbing up a pole and lighting a cig up there, I don't think it gets better then that in life.

It's not men judging other men by the size of their wallets, mate. We're just competing in the sexual hierarchy that women establish for us.

Bruh, the men with the most integrity and empathy for their fellow man are the working class, hard labour types. Every sociopath I have ever met has been an upper class corporate wanker. Most of them virtue signal about feminist dogma to hide their own skeletons. Working class men will just tell it as it is. Your arguments are all over the place.

It's really both, in a VERY general sense. For example, some men are just competitive. They would use money or anything they can get their hands on to prove they are better than the next guy, with or without women existing but I guess we have some sort of middle ground as far as societal expectations go and pressures to perform.

Tldr: I dunno if i entirely agree, but it's not NOT what you said either.
