I do believe all of the Wii U's biggest games will be ported to Switch down the line. There aren't that many left that are unconfirmed now, I can only think of Pikmin 3, Xenoblade Chronicles X and Super Mario 3D World left. There's of course Yoshi's Woolly World, but it was already ported to 3DS, so I'm not so sure about that one.

I have had Pikmin 3 on my Wii U ever since I got it from Mario Kart 8 campaign way back in 2013, but never really played it. Hopefully the rumored Switch port will have all the content included right away.

3D World features some of the best level designs I've ever seen. There's a shit-ton of them and every single one feels reasonably unique and well crafted. Truly a fantastic game that got undeservedly overshadowed by Odyssey because hurr durr muh exploration, linear levels suck. 3D World is every bit as great as Odyssey.

I feel like I’m one of these people you’re mentioning. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

After so many action-style games with the Galaxy games, and 3D Land, I was just beginning to really want a return to the 64/Sunshine style. I almost think that if Odyssey and 3D World’s release dates were flipped, that’d be better.

That said, I never once didn’t appreciate how absolutely wonderful 3D World was. As time has gone on, and I got my Sunshine sequel, my positive feelings about the game have only grown.

It really feels like a modern classic — something that could stand up there with Super Mario World for brilliant polish and fun.

I’d be shocked if it didn’t hit Switch. Not only is it better suited for Switch than it was Wii U (multiplayer focus), it’s just too fantastic a game to sit on. I think it’d be unreal successful on a system that could give it a chance.

I’m looking forward to the new mortgage simulator/Animal Crossing game.
That way I can spend all day at work trying to earn money to pay off my real mortgage before returning home to spend my free time trying to pay off the mortgage on my imaginary tent on an imaginary island with all my imaginary friends that are nicer than my actual real life friends!

Actually I'm afraid I'm also one of the people I was mentioning lol I also drank the exploration kool aid. And I understand the argument behind it, it took Nintendo quite a long time to do the 64/Sunshine formula again. I'm not a huge fan of how praising Odyssey inevitably led to favorable comparisons to 3D World from talking heads, as if one was the true way to do Mario games. And that is a disservice to how incredible of a game 3D World is. Both games are absolutely amazing and both should be played and yeah, I hope it hits the Switch as well so more people get to try it. Heck, NSMBU got a port, so 3DW shouldn't be off the table.

Just glad to see the hype back for Nintendo, after the Wii U ( which I thought was a decent system but sales did not match my like ) I just wanted to see Nintendo back into the conversation with the other big 2. Nobody can ignore the Switch now and glad to see them on top of there game again.
There are a lot of games I’m looking forward too but most of them have already been mentioned but for a new game coming out relatively soonish is Darksiders Genesis.

This is what GAF has been missing is an actual Nintendo rumor and hype thread. I haven't heard any/many good rumors lately, though. I think this is the year (in the Switch's life) where I've basically settled in and stopped worrying about what's on the horizon. I feel like there's more being released for Switch than I'll be able to keep up with. So, not knowing what's in the release schedule doesn't bother me much, especially since we'll be hearing about it in January.

My currently most hyped games:
Pokemon Sword/Shield (currently playing) - it's a seriously good Pokemon game, and for once it's willing to kick your ass and make you look silly if you're itching for a whomping.
Animal Crossing
BotW2
Metroid Prime Trilogy (Rumored)
Metroid Prime 4

The list feels pretty thin. I'll remove a piece of gum from my cap and share it. You should be looking for a new Mario Kart next year. Expect to be hearing about it.

yeah it's slow season for some reason. Reee chased a lot of the insiders away.. I was really hoping the scalebound rumors would have ended up being true. There are also still the game that is like seeing "Mario on Playstation" coming to the switch from an insider over at Resetera that had a good track record that leaked a bunch of direct dates and got them right.

Looking at that beautiful MonolithSoft art from earlier, I tried to track down the other pieces I remembered. Really looking to whatever this is, and the time is beginning to seem right.

I really hope the in-game visuals follow this stuff closely. It looks amazing.

Do you think this might be announced next year? (probably after Xenoblade Chronicles: DE has been released, I bet).

I would soooo love a fantasy-themed RPG from Monolith Soft.

I assume they would give some time for XC definitive edition to settle in then announce something.

Nintendo’s gonna give Pokemon room to breathe this holiday season (not that it needs it). I’d expect their next Direct in mid-January. Focus on Animal Crossing, maybe a Pikmin 3 DE reveal, and hopefully an actual look at Bayo 3 now that Astral Chain is done and gone.

I think I need to play Odyssey again, because it's but a mere blip in my memory. It was over way too fast, and the levels mostly felt too small or sparse for me to freely explore. Super Mario Sunshine is still the best for exploration while Mario 64 is still, basically, the champion of 3D Mario.

But yes, Super Mario 3D World is the finest most polished 3D-linear Mario experiences ever made. It does come close to rivaling the older Marios, but it's just not quite on that level. They just don't make games of that caliber anymore (like Yoshi's Island).

I think Odyssey resembles Sunshine far more than it does 64, like how the levels are basically hub areas for smaller challenges. The sub-areas are my favorite part of Odyssey just like they were my favorite part of Sunshine and although there's far more of those in Odyssey, I feel like the ones in Sunshine are overall better. Mario's movement in Sunshine is just a little bit more varied and demanding. Odyssey flows much better, you go from one objective to the next and it's just this constant stream of awesomeness where Sunshine had more bad/boring moments. Sunshine obviously nails the setting and IMO looks better than Odyssey in art design, the places you go through are more memorable. The OST in Odyssey is clearly better, there's no Jump Up Superstar in Sunshine.

That's all in the details though the bigger picture is that both games are fucking awesome (do give Odyssey another shot in the future). I can see why someone would prefer one over the other.

I want that long-rumoured Metroid Prime Trilogy HD collection on my Switch. I started playing through the Wii version a while back, but I would love to play it on the Switch instead.

I assume they are waiting to release it closer to when Metroid Prime 4 is ending development to build hype, but I don’t want to wait that long.

Please Nintendo!!
MPT is the one announcement I anticipate during a Direct only to end up disappointed. I'm just going to end up hooking my Wii up and replaying it there if it's not announced by the end of the year.

I think we're getting to the point where that could be a possibility.

They probably have quite a bit to show at this point, and with this E3 being a showdown between the Switch and the two new consoles, even if it's not ready to go this year, I could totally see Nintendo showing it off.

I so agree, btw. They're so very talented. Seeing them tackle realistic western fantasy like that, just sounds like a recipe for an amazing game.

As long as it has memorable characters and a wonderful story I am in. I really enjoyed XC2 but the characters fell kinda flat for me. Rex was okay but a little generic, I liked Zeke, Morag was cool, but the littler guy was insufferable. I would like them to go all in on whatever they are working on

of course I also have yet to experience the original XC no one tell jshackles jshackles

I completely get your perspective, as the characters were kind of a simpler throwback to old Japanese anime and game tropes, and less full-featured and realistic because of it.

I just personally found something nostalgic, comforting, and ironically different in that though, and really enjoyed it. I haven't played or watched anything like that in a long time, and it really resonated with me. Maybe with the real world being so troubled and complex, something like this was exactly what I needed.

Don't get me wrong I loved the game, just some stuff about the characters put me off. If i could go back I think I would play with the Japanese VO

The cut scenes and the world building were top notch i loved exploring every part of the terrains

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

It's all good! The remaster / re-release looks like it'll be a great jumping-in point for people like you who have played (and liked) the second game but never got into the first one. It'll also be great for people who liked the first one but find it difficult to play these days because it's on the Wii in SD. Actually, I'm pretty sure it's just going to be great for everyone.

One thing I did not enjoy about the second game, is the gacha system of all of the blades and I have heard the first has less of that? I haven't read too much about it.

I would love another Golden Sun but it doesn't seem like Nintendo will let Camelot make anything other than Mario Golf and Tennis these days. Especially since Monolith pretty much takes care of their RPG portfolio ever since they were acquired.

I wouldn't be surprised if we get Mario Golf Switch next year (by Camelot) again.

Such a waste....at least we will see more Bravely at some point guys right ? right ?

Tora is the best. Love his maid fetish and how he makes fun of Pyra. We need more of that in games.

Either the new ip is revealed with a trailer during the January direct or it's long way off.

My hope is that Nintendo doesn't treat Xenoblade Remaster as a big tite (makes no sense since the game already released 2 times) and releases it no later than May. Then announce the new ip for circa August/September.

It's been 2 years without a new monolithsoft game, that has only happened once before in their company history. It's time.

Well is that new Octopath game for mobile a spin off or a direct sequel from the default team?

I remember a while back people were speculating Default and Second getting ported to the Switch because of a tweet sent out by the team. (I still don't see it happening because the towns were designed to specifically take advantage of 3D) But who knows.

it’s a prequel to Octopath, I enjoyed Octopath Traveler but they kinda lost me at mobile.

Yah there were the couple cryptic tweets from the bravely team with the characters holding joycons but nothing since

Anybody think we'll see Metroid Prime 4 at the game awards or is it still aways off?

Unless Nintendo wants to do a trailer with no real footage, no way. The game just restarted development this year.

Something like BotW 2, though? I could see it. Nintendo’s been premiering stuff at The Game Awards for quite some time now.

Maybe it's time to show more of Bayonetta 3, now that Astral Chain is out (and reviewed and probably sold quite well, too?) and it was originally presented in Game Awards in similar manner. Hopefully the game comes out in 2020, altough I still have not played either of the original 2 games either.

i just hope it’s not a smash fighter, I dig the game but at this point I’m over the smash reveals.

plus I’m still bitter we didn’t actually get persona 5 on switch haha

You have jinxed us all. :messenger_unamused:

No, hahaha, same. Even if it is (cause that sounds kind of likely) they did Joker + Ultimate Alliance last year, so that’s a good sign.

I hope they do something. These end-of-year reveals are a fun little teaser until the new year, and E3, get rolling.

If you’re into that kind of stylish combat, with combos everywhere and such, I really recommend the first two games, especially at their price.

Only a little bit into the first game, and it’s just brilliant with how far and above it goes to constantly deliver amazing action and big moments.

they are definitely worth a play though I had to push through the first one. The second was a lot more enjoyable for me.

astral chain is amazing though
