i'm stuck in the first tomb. i've just unlocked the push ability. i can't figure out how to get all the balls in place. i've done 2 so far.

i feel like i'm missing something really obvious.

I'm so happy that it doesn't have fast travel. It takes a bit to get used to the map system but once you do and unlock some shortcuts you can get back to your ship pretty quick.
I unlocked almost every shortcuts but if the maps is a fucking mess you don't even know where to go...
I'm not even talking about fast travel between bonfire, just a simple return to your ship thing...

I've dropped this now and gone back to the witcher 3 replay. Just doesn't hold my attention and the combat parry system and force powers are poor. I will come back to it but its in the pile now

You have to use the first ball again again or find another ball. The ball is then shot through the air and you have to force hold it. Make sure to knock down any walls. There should be 1 ball near the enemy and another ball on that ridge across from it. Then the 3rd ball is used from the front, back where the save spot is. There’s a wall to knock down right before that swinging thing was, where you first came into that room

It’s growing on me. I’m just now exiting the 2nd temple. It’s been a slow burn. The combat is not as well rounded as other games. Sure it all works, but the force combat slows down the pace. I would have rather had a light and heavy attack button. I see what they’re trying to do though. The backtracking isn’t always fun. These levels are more about being obstacles. I don’t mind backtracking if the level design really warrants it. This is just one large piece before it gets cut off. Then you somehow figure out a way to go back.

Game is way to hard. Not even fun at this point. Turning it down to easy is way too easy. But medium is way too hard. Too frustrating.
And the respawning enemies when you re enter an area is so stupid. So many things they did wrong for no apparent reason

I would imagine you never played Dark Souls-type game before, right?

Fighting the boss in the Shadowlands really does feel like Sekiro. If you're not used to quickly making the right call on multiple unblockables, multiple parries, managing stamina, all that. I can see how it would be very hard for some people.

I played Grandmaster for the first two planets and had to drop to Master.

Correct. And there was a reason.
there was also no reason to turn Star Wars into that type of game.

im fine if they want to make the combat a little challenging. But there’s no reason to punish me for walking into another room and then going back with enemy Respawns

they only respawn if you rest.

I think they balance it out by having multiple save/resting spots. You can wait it out until a new spot arrives or do this: run past the enemies. I don’t think every enemy is worth killing.

This game reminds me of 2008 Prince of Persia with the wall running and swinging.

I fell into a habit of relying on block too much early in my playthrough. Later I was forced to adopt more rolls AND jumps to avoid attacks. Once I got that down it became a bit easier. I do think some of the tells are a bit too subtle and you'll end up having to memorize some of the tougher enemies. Even more critical to memorize them on higher difficulty. Perhaps in the future the difference between the difficulty levels should just be about the speed of the attacks and your reflexes, but the amount of damage sustained and able to receive should stay constant (and bumped up a bit in both cases). I think this would make it a more consistent difficulty curve between the levels.

It isn’t as hard as you think. What makes it look hard is the irresponsive controls honestly. Makes me feel I’m faster than the game

Finally got the platinum, finding the missing holomap areas was NOT fun in some locations. I think I've spent more than an hour in Weathered Monument stuck at 95%.

The game was created by respawn studios, what do you expect? :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

Had been considering dropping it since it was turning into a backtracking slog, but went back and finished tonight. The final act of the game is mostly a high point, so if you're stalling out a good ways in I think it's worth completing.

I have a laundry list of complaints about the core mechanics, the progression, the character designs, and the unfinished/sloppy technical aspects, but most of that's been covered by the thread already. I don't think I've seen mentioned that the protagonist accomplishes very little himself in cutscenes, usually being supplanted entirely by someone else's will in every critical moment. It's really not the way to write a game like this.

Despite all the issues, not going to be entirely negative on it. After obtaining all the abilities there's a decent variety of options in combat and traversal, and the final act's bosses are a good challenge and not overly cheap. Six more months in the tank would've done wonders, but it's alright.

If someone ask me to choose which game will be my GOTY in 2019.... I'm not sure if I can choose between Resident Evil 2 Remake and Star Wars: Jedi - Fallen Order. The game has a shit ton of technical problems (thankfully not as much on PC in comparison to consoles), but what Respawn did here is just nothing short of amazing. Art (can't wait to get my hands on artbook), design, absolutely gigantic planetary levels with increadible sence of scale (every Metroid Prime game put together is like a children's courtyard in comparison), exploration, really well written dialogues, lore, acting, story and characters, humor, atmosphere, extremely well directed and put together cut-scenes and action sequences that just scream Star Wars in combination with amazing as ever OST.

There's like a shit ton of Metroid (mainline games and Prime series) references in terms of lore, backtracking, exploration, acquiring upgrades, finding secrets, solving puzzles and many other stuff which is just a delight to see and only hardcore Metroid fans will notice this stuff. For me as a HUGE Metroid fan It's such a delight to see all this in Fallen Order and it just goes to show that if you'll borrow / choose something to be a reference from other games during development of your own, you better not fuck it up and do it right, and Respawn did just that.

I sure have a few complaints and when it comes down to it, you won't find anything new in this game when it comes to gameplay, but fuck it, as long as it works so well and even though a bit junky in terms of animations and lack of polish in other areas, this is the best Star Wars game I've played since KOTOR 2, period. And I agree, a few more months of polish would've helped tromendosly to ironout technical problems (which are mostly related to HDDs and streaming of assets system in UE4), but Fallen Order is the first UE4 game made by Respawn (all previous games were made on Source) so.... I'll give them a pass just this once.

Which seems dumb. Because there’s a rest point two feet from 6 guys. I fight them and then need to rest to stock up on stims only to have to fight again. I dunno just wish they didn’t at all

This game is piss-easy compared to the From Software Soulsborne games, I'd compare it to something like a more sloppy God of War (2018), but with a few more ideas lifted from the Souls games like the bonfire and related health/exp system. Look, man. Stop going back to rest after a fight, obviously. Consider using the block or dodge buttons, or something. I can't imagine what the problem is, you almost have to go out of your way to get hit most of the time. What action games would you personally consider well-balanced, since this is either too hard or too easy?

brain react thought i was gonna say "get good," huh? not with evilore reading this thread i'm not.

Finished the game last night. Loved it. Im a big dark souls fan so I was able to fit right in. Also as a dark souls fan I found rolling a lot more useful than the parry. Anyway loved the game and story. Finally a good ea SW game

Sometimes it nerves me when you can’t get that last sliver of health on a boss. i know they want to build up the cinematic and story progression

Dropped it, I'm gonna watch the cutscenes on youtube. I didn't have time to play for the past week and I realise I have no real drive to pick it back up, the gameplay just did not do it for me. Shame cause I enjoyed the atmosphere and world building.

Run past the enemies if necessary. Use the environment such as door ways. Enemies have a point they cant enter and will allow you to stand just out of reach and attack. No shame in it.

My biggest issue, it needed another planet. Maybe Braca a city planet for variety. think star wars 1313 kinda planet. also dathomir storyline was trash.

Really hope DLC comes in the form of one or two extra planets, new enemies and maybe a boss or two.

An arena would be cool too.

Also NG+

i doubt we will get another planet or any form of dlc, unless it takes place on existing planets. work on sequel will most likely begin though depending on sales.

finished the game. Overall enjoyed what i played. The difficulty ramp is pretty extreme for the last boss. Not to satisfied with the stories conclusion but makes sense canon wise.

How does this compare to Unleashed? I loved that game.
Blows it out of the water in my opinion. Some people seem lukewarm on it. But I think it's one of the best Star Wars games ever made. 2nd place behind KOTOR.

It's basically Tomb Raider (reboot) + Dark Souls. Story is not super compelling, but you get to see some cool locations.

Didn't get lucky to get it from gamefly so I'll probably pick it up on bf if its a good deal.

I loved Unleashed 1, 2 was good but wasn't as enjoyable. This gave me hope to fill that gap.

The way the game is structured, I think an extra DLC planet is extremely likely. And the fact that Respawn avoided all microtransactions, I bet they do heavier traditional DLC.
Not sure I'm exactly expecting it, but I'd be down for an old school expansion style DLC, $20 for two more full blown planets would be sweet.

I like the game, but you are a joke of a Jedi. Early on at least. In Outcast/Academy you would mop the floor with any asshole with a stun stick. Not that there are any that I can remember in those games. It's just ridiculous these can even hold up against a lightsaber. I know it's probably some kind of retconned lore shit, but it's silly. "Oh but actually they have some mandolian stuck stick batons that don't let lightsabers go through them" Or whatever the reason is. Like bullshit a lightsaber wouldnt' slice through that shit like butter. If it would have been an Old Republic era game with lots of lightsabers it'd be a lot easier to forgive. And I agree with sentiments I've seen that using force for your lightsaber heavy moves is idiotic.

Still wish it was a new Kyle Katarn game.

Series has potential, but they need to address some lame ass shit. And BD-1 needs to use those stims instantly, though I guess they were going for that slow chug of estus flask, but with a faster paced game.

I like it overall, but there are some annoying things in it that definitely impede the enjoyment. And I've played Dark Souls 1-3 extensively.

I'll still power through it regardless, but it definitely could have used more time to smooth things over and tighten everything up. And dare I say, just get rid of difficulties entirely (outside of NG+ like Dark Souls since that's what they're going for). Just to make the experience around a single difficulty level I think would help it quite a bit.

Edit: To clarify further, I think they just have to decide what kind of game they want. Maybe which is why they made it an amalgamation of so many games. See what sticks and run with that.

Multiple difficulties seems appropriate for a game made with a popular movie IP like this. Lots of Star Wars fans don't play games hardly at all, and are trying to jump in on this and just getting destroyed. But it's clear the director took a lot of inspiration from Dark Souls and wants to incorporate a lot of that in his game. Seems like easy mode and hard mode (which is very hard) is a good compromise.

If you have trouble healing due to the time it takes, remember you can slow enemies with the force, then heal.

And while the main character starts weak, he keeps getting multiple new abilities that turn him into a killing machine soon enough. And along the way, you're getting training flashbacks from his old master which I personally loved, which reinforce the good Star Wars movies where you don't start invincible, but have to train for a while to get anywhere.
