I know Control was a...uh..."troubled" game for sure, but I can kinda see what their technical director is trying to say: generally the speeds companies give are theoretical, and specify for specific workloads and conditions.

Even if the PS5's SSD can give a bandwidth speed of, say, 8 GB/s, you aren't getting 8 GB/s all the time b/c 1: overhead (PCIe 3.0 uses 15 MB as overhead so actual maximum speed there is 985 MB/s per transceiver lane, but that standard also uses 8b/10b encoding. I think they've switched to 128b/130b encoding for PCIe 4.0; others like SRIO use 64b/67b encoding) and 2: a game probably won't need to actually access that much data per second from the SSD. Devs will probably want to make read accesses as minimum as possible; if a game needed to keep loading the maximum bandwidth speed's worth of throughput each second, that game could've probably been better programmed.

But I think Remedy's technical director is being a little too pessimistic. Understandable tho; temper expectations, save on disappointment (or allow yourself to be even more impressed if your low expectations are surpassed).

Seems in line with what we’ve been hearing. Except for the Sony Vega Pro part. Sony doesn’t own the Vega Pro anymore. What do you guys think?

Hopes and dreams the post. We shall see. In a perfect world that is.

I would be pleasantly shocked if even 50% comes to fruition (at launch).

Cool I guess?

Saw this earlier, was going to post it......Have not been in this thread for a while till today...…….That French YouTuber has some really nice concept videos......I think I posted his GT7 concept video some time ago......Anyways, it seems the hype for next gen is stronger now than ever....Can't say there was a gen I've been more excited for.....

So much for consoles dying last gen with PS3....... :lollipop_Mr_Smith:

“Just as we warned, those purported PS5 cartridge patents aren't for the PlayStation 5 at all. The tiny cartridges are used by Sony's family-friendly Toio gaming system that's designed for kids, not an enthusiast-grade next-gen console designed for a mass-market audience of gamers.”

What exactly is far fetched?

If we didn’t have confirmation already then the PS5 having a CPU which has a 500-600% compute leap, an SSD which is faster than anything available and hardware accelerated real time Ray Tracing would be absolutely ludicrous.

PS5 playing PS1/PS2/PS4 games aswell as them pushing PS Plus/Now, faster access to digital games, patches to PS4 games along with some expected launch games isn’t “hopes and dreams” in the slightest imo.

The ‘leaker’ is complete BS but it’s all fairly expected and most of it has been rumoured / leaked already.

For me, it’s more trying to keep my expectations lower that the perfect for all features.

I have no worry about the specs itself.

Never mind the new Xbox rumour, let's debate whether there is such thing as AAAA. lol

I was thinking this was a Songoku rumour, but it's not from paste bin. lol

Man, I can't even think what an AAAA game would be. I have trouble working out what an A or AA game is. Shall we all play a game and try to work it out?

Shovelware: Ninjabread Men
A: Terminator: Resistance?
AA: Gravity Rush? Knack?
AAA: God of War, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Bloodborne

Update: I actually found a definition on Wikipedia. Seems a AAAA (or AAA+) game is a AAA game that is created by a first party studio: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AAA_(video_game_industry)#AAAA

If we accept that as the definition, Sony's turned out quite a few AAAA games this generation.

What about Star Citizen? Is this the first S Rank game? The S standing for "scam" 🙃

Time to spice things up a little. 🌶

Yeah, I'm gonna press X to doubt on that one. Ninja Theory hasn't yet released Bleeding edge and they'll bring out an Rpg less than a year after that launches and on the Scarlett's launch day no less? And let's not get started on the AAAA nonsense, there's no such thing as AAAA, it's just a buzzword for AAA on a massive budget and nothing more. There's a lot of nonsense in that post, yes it's true that the Xbox is not gonna be left behind in power this time around, but there's no way to confirm which one has the power advantage and how much that advantage is. There's no way they'll launch another diskless xbox after the catastrophic failure that was the diskless xbox one, which ended up being received poorly and I'm sure was used as a test.

Just like Grounded, Bleeding Edge was made by a smaller team within Team Ninja.

However, speaking with Metro GameCentral at the show, Bleeding Edge director Rahni Tucker (who previously worked on 2013's DmC: Devil May Cry) said that while the game at launch is going to be multiplayer-only and the small team at Ninja Theory is currently focused on that, some really great single-player campaigns could be made in the future.

Secondly, there’s nothing bad about a Discless console considering it will be $50 cheaper than the competition. It’s a smart move especially since most games have online elements anyway.

I’m buying the disc less version day 0. Haven’t used a physical disk since PS3. (Bought digital on 360 once widely available).

Where’s team 14TF at!?

We back mate, away for the weekend to do the revision on the hype train. You know, oil up the machine and shit.
Time to spice things up a little. 🌶

And it's gone, anyone got the goods?

Samsung's new SSD stuff
So probably Cernys faster than anything on the market right now related, but with the proprietary secret sauce?

Regarding the paste bin for scarlett, I wouldn't rule out a $450 scarlett all digital edition. Lets them undercut sony without compromising on performance.

Well truth be told, so far we have seen only ONE example, that is the Spider-Man, of how a PS4 game could run on the PS5, and given we are talking about ~5x more capable CPU (~10x if it has multi-threading), ~13x more bandwidth, and ~200x lower access time, it's more than obvious the results should be remarkable. But like I said, it was just ONE game, we don;t know how other PS4 games behave, maybe they are not as spectacular as SM? And we are still talking about PS4 games, while the games build for the PS5 from the ground up will surely put all those CPU threads and bandwidth to a good use, the devs will just build bigger and more complex worlds, and we will end up in the exact same spot. I personally will be very happy if they manage to get instant access to the main menus, which are mostly 2D, but given the retarded policy of forced companies logo presentations I highly doubt even that is possible.

Time to spice things up a little. 🌶

Aaaannnd it's gone... Anyone has a copy or can summarize the info?

Removeddit is a God send tool. 👌🏻Reposting for those who haven’t seen it.

“Keeping it vague for now.
The final name has been confirmed, can't say it yet cause theres only about <25 people who actually know the name.
At the moment power wise, we're looking at the same as the PS4, slightly better though - not by a lot though, a repeat of last gen won't happen.
There will be 2 models, both @ 2TB of storage,1 model will be all digital and one will have a disc drive. They will retail at $449 and $499 respectively.
Launch titles are Forza Motorsport 8 (which is the best in the series from a development standpoint), halo infinite (despite the rumours, the game is doing fine) and a Ninja Theory RPG that is unannounced.
Right now there are 4 scheduled 2020 exclusives, 1 for each quarter to help with consistancy and help gamepass. All the bought out studios will be converted into AAA, with the initiative being AAAA. There will be a disgustingly small teaser for the fable reboot at E3, and a load of marketing deals, extra OS features (think LFG, SNAP etc.), and xcloud information with a WW open beta.
The initiative wont be on the radar till maybe 2021 with a teaser, the quality of the game they're preparing was compared to RDR2 by a load of higher ups (and Satya Nadal !)
Take this with a grain of salt please, this comes from a few different sources as well as my own information gained. Next gen will be very interesting.”
