I liked episode 3 more than the other two.
Decent action, Carl Wethers was cool (twi'lek baths? Lets go), some protag characterization, shiny armor and questions about where Mando will escape to and how powerful the kid is.

We already know of other Jedi. Or at least force users. Ezra and Ashoka.

That’s right, but I’m not sure they survive past TFA era though possibly. I’m waiting for both, possibly Sabine to show up by season 3-4 of the Mandalorian.

Whereas I am going to assume based on what we know of Yoda & this kids slow aging abilities, if like Yoda he lives to be 900yrs old & dies naturally rather than by the hands of KOR or someone else, then he will be a Last Jedi as he’d only be around 90-100yrs oldish during Rise of Skywalker meaning he will outlive Rey & them all.

As a total SW nutjob.... I've cried way too much through these 3 episodes and episode 3 was like the dramatic emotional impact. First half of the show I was ready to quit because I was so mad he gave up the bounty..... and then rewatching to find how it ends..... damn this is the best SW since maybe ever.

Saying again, might be the best SW-related content EVER.

After finishing Star Wars: Fallen Order I’m planning to give Star Wars a chance and watch the movies. What are the right order for the movies?

That’s it? Aren’t there 500 movie bro?

Sure, there are a lot of them now, but the original trilogy is by far the best. You can continue from there in order of release. So, basically, do the original trilogy above, then the prequel trilogy (Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith), then the sequel trilogy and side flicks (The Force Awakens, Rogue One, The Last Jedi, Solo. soon The Rise of Skywalker).

After the prequel trilogy, you'll have a good amount of context for games like KotOR and KotOR 2 also, which are worth checking out.

Lovely. Thank you very much bro
Watching them tonight hopefully

series has been top notch for me...one of the best star wars related things in years
i really hope they spend more time exploring the non jedi/sith stuff and the underworld stuff

Hope they keep Jon Favreau directing/writing as this series is great

I really have to stop thinking about the show after I wantched it, because I enjoyed a lot this third episodes but now I'm seeing all the bad writing and noticing all the things that don't make sense.

Star Wars (A New Hope), Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi

This. Don't bother watching anything else. Better to stay away from that shit or it will ruin SW for you.

Try and watch the Harmy's Despecialized Editions. The added effects and scenes Lucas keeps tinkering with in the official versions are dreadful.

They’re still limited to the shit color timing of the past home video releases. The color timing on the 4K versions on D+ are the closest you’ll get to how it looked in theaters.

yup, i was totally hammered though so that certainly amplifies my emotions when diving into shit i loved as a child. Truth be told as I've gotten older I've found the ability to express emotions a lot easier whereas before I would've thought of myself as a pathetic pussy, I now recognize I've always been a pathetic pussy.

Seek help. Surprised Final Fantasy 6 didn’t destroy you totally.

First time watching the movies = release order. That is ANH -> ESB -> ROTJ -> TPM -> AOTC -> ROTS -> TFA -> RO -> TLJ -> SOLO
Rewatches = chronological order. That is TPM -> AOTC -> ROTS -> SOLO -> RO -> ANH -> ESB -> ROTJ -> TFA -> TLJ

The quality dips from the OT though, but I have found them all to be enjoyable. My personal list is:

ESB > ANH >RO > ROTJ > ROTS > TFA > TPM > AOTC > SOLO > TLJ

This is such hard question for the Star Wars community because it's all personal preference. Saying you want to watch the Star Wars movies, you have to ask the real question what is it you want to experience. Star Wars USED TO BE 4,5,6. Then for a new generation it was 1,2,3,4,5,6 and now we have yet another generation for the 7,8,9

All 3 trilogies are 100% their own story with just with minor overlaps to the others. If you started with 4,5,6 then 1,2,3 would seem like completely different movies and likewise in reverse. The real question is, what is Star Wars, what is the meaning, and what is the purpose for starting at any point in this universe.

I think it's fair to say what Star Wars now IS a story about a genetic lineage of the greatest Magic/Force wielders in the galaxy. It's a cautionary tale about the abuse of power as a whole and the overall redemption from that folly. THAT'S REALLY IT. Everything else is fucking nerd fan service.

1,2,3 -Rise to power, the great manipulation
4,5,6 - New rise to power, redemption arc
7,8,9 -Ending of lineage, introduction of new lineage

If you're going to watch Star wars for Star wars just start at Star Wars 1 A phantom Menace. There were some insanely quirky choices done in Episode 1 that if you can get past will likely only improve as you continue watching the movies in order. By the time you finish 6, you'll have fully understood Star Wars and really wont need to watch 7,8,9 because they're essentially meaningless macguffins setting up future installments for Disney to capitalize on.

No they're not. They've been colour corrected to better match the original theatrical versions.

I don't know about the 4K versions, but I doubt they've gone for the old 70's film look. The colour has been way oversaturated, you can see that from the clips on YouTube. The existing Blurays and DVD's have terrible colour timing. Star Wars in particular has way too much magenta.

I like this show, I’m enjoying it. It there’s definitely a lot of stuff that just doesn’t make much sense.

My GF is on her phone / watching randomly and she keeps looking up and asking questions I can’t answer:

-Why did he park his space ship so far from the town he’s going to? Rather then right next to town?

Why did one shot to the head kill that robot that seemed unstoppable before?

Did he just kill a rhino with a butter knife?

If he just broke the bounty hunters code why did the other bounty hunters come to help him?

And that’s just a few. Maybe there are answers to these questions, but they need more context or dialogue to explain in my opinion.

Still, it’s enjoyable star wars content, I haven’t had that in a long time.

I wasn't talking about the Blu-Ray, which is what those clips on YouTube are from. I'm talking about the 4K HDR 10 versions Disney has streaming on Disney+. They look completely different from the Blu-Rays as they were brand new versions done in 2012 intended for a 3D theatrical release that never happened.

I watched it last night, think it's okay. Production values being good helps, and it's also more restrained than most SW stuff, which is a plus for me. However, it's fairly unremarkable in every other respect. There are basically no characters, the dialogue they have is pretty forgettable, so I guess the show will mostly be about creating some sequences with good action or suspense.

It's enjoyable, but with 30 minute episodes I was surprised when I saw how short the season is. It's not gonna have time to go anywhere. To me the positive reception it's receiving speaks more to the dire state of SW than anything else.

“Hunger is the best spice” and all that. True though. I’ve only seen the first episode so far but I did enjoy it. But then I remember how Luke left a map to a place where he didn’t want to be found, and how Lando fucked a robot, and then I realize the bar has been set incredibly low.

We’ll see I guess. On to episode 2.

It's really fun but seeing unreal engine in the credits now has me thinking in every scene if it was that rendered in unreal.

Im really enjoying the music other than the overuse of the theme.

1. Because that's where the parking space for space ships is for that town?
2. No one has shot its head before in that scene, so how do you know it would not have that effect on it?
3. Well, it's kind of hard to believe. I'd say he got a lucky shot with it. If you'd punch a very small edged object into someones throat and get the right spot, you'd kill that person as well.
4. Those people helping him are other Mandalorians, not bounty hunters.

and on the third episode:
I still really love this show, even if the writing is a bit sketchy at times.
But it got its heart at the right place, and what is most important, feels like Star Wars to me.
First time since 1983, except the beginning of TFA.

Are they the same that were mentioned to me by the lads above?
The ones I suggested are just rouge one plus the original trilogy. Some people enjoy the prequels, and the recent sequels but I'd say start with the good films before you move onto the films that have some serious problems with the writing.

Will do. Thanks man

On another note, did any fellow SW geeks notice they showed vibro blades. Is this the first time outside of EU that we have seen vibroblades in action?

thought this was a good review/reaction. i agree with most of this.

the atmosphere and the look, i liked a little more, but the main character is not that interesting. he is a good guy even though the show is struggling for that "shades of grey" western morality stuff, everything he does is good (saving the BB). he's also wholly reactive, which explains why i don't find him that interesting. him taking half payment, i don't really get what that says about his character. one interesting thing is that near the end when he busts into the enemy's lair, he does not have his gun already drawn, like you would. instead he walks in, waits for a bad guy to shoot, and only then he draws his gun! not very badass or even that believable.

Will they move this to hour long episodes in season 2? 30 minutes is just way too short.

For those on the fence I would wait for them all to be released and watch it like a 4 hour movie.

I honestly wonder if Disney thought it would flop and wanted to go cheap. I am going to be pissed if the Marvel shows are only 30 minutes.

The budget for this thing is massive, like $10m per episode

Episode 3 went the obvious way but it was fun.

As ¡bit of a nitpick but for as much as everyone speaks about the Mandalorian and his reputation he sure seems rather incompetent. I appreciate a more grounded main character with clear limitations but so far he has needed to be saved in 3 out of 3 chapters.

From what I know of star wars its because there are dedicated "Parking lots" for ships near towns and towns usually aren't too keen on allowing people to land in them (sometimes). Call it a dirt space port.

Why did one shot to the head kill that robot that seemed unstoppable before?
He was close to it? IDK

Did he just kill a rhino with a butter knife?
Vibro blade. Pretty sure its a metal that can block a lightsaber and cut anything. Also go the beast in the brain.

If he just broke the bounty hunters code why did the other bounty hunters come to help him?
The bounty hunters HATE the empire. By going back and getting the baby he screwed over the empire and thus gained the others respect. The main chick likely will be PISSED though, since technically he broke the code.

And that’s just a few. Maybe there are answers to these questions, but they need more context or dialogue to explain in my opinion.

My answers in bold.

While I am not sure if it was the Empire that sacked the mandalorian homeworld, the empire does have a lot of the Baskar (sp?) metal that the Mandalorian's want for their armor. I believe baskar is a metal from their homeworld that they view as their birthright and want it back. This is why the Mandalorian's hate the empire, and why the main character is given shit for taking a job for Imperials.

I for one am a HUGE fan of the 30 minute episodes. I'm not a huge, binge-2-seasons-of-hour-long-episodes-kinda-guy.
I like to get my fix and move on with my day.

It sounds like sometime between the end of Rebels (~4 years before ANH) and The Mandalorian, The Empire went scorched Earth on Mandalore and caused them to become basically extinct and in hiding.

The only thing I'm not sure of is the rest of the Mandolarians reaction's to Mando's takeback. I guess it doesn't hurt that he was fucking over the Imperials in their eyes, but still surprised to see no issues with him messing up a finished bounty. Or have we just not seen that yet?
