I'm NOT talking about attention seeking account suicides either.

I see more and more popular/liked members being banned and when i get to the ban sections it seems some of them are requesting them. Thankfully for a short time.

While it's great to see that these members didn't get perma ban for some dumb thing and they will return, i still don't see the point of requesting a ban. Can't you just not post/browse GAF? Is it a power of will thing?

No, not everyone can do that especially if GAF is in their daily routine if not an all day activity. So the simplest thing to do is request a self-ban for some time and then you come back fresh

Personally I've requested a temp ban before when I have had to get on with RL stuff for a period.

I'd like the ability to self suspend if that's possible. With a different message versus banned and a clear expiry date. Plus no clogging up the ban page.

It just comes down to different strokes for different folks. I think ignore functions are pivotal features, and I can understand why people don’t use them even if I think they are necessary.

They do seem to fall in line with one another, as I feel people who need a temp self-ban also probably use the ignore function, while people who would never request one probably never use ignore.

Let's really start getting specific. Maybe some users are supposed to practice piano from 4-5pm EST or their parents get mad. Just ban them on a daily basis during those hours!
