Square Enix not sure if FFXV save bug will ever be fixed on Stadia. Google and Square blame each other for the issue sending customers back and forth.

A lot has come to light since Google Stadia was unveiled last month. In its early days, the video game streaming service was found to cause connected Chromecast Ultra and laptops to overheat.
Late last month, we captured bug reports related to playing Final Fantasy XV on Google Stadia. One of the major issues was the inability to save progress, something we didn’t think the game developer, Square Enix, would address swiftly given the blame game between them and Google.

While the company has actually acknowledged the issue, in the latest developments, Square Enix has a rather shocking response to players of Final Fantasy XV on Google Stadia experiencing the save bug.

Apparently, the game developer has no idea if or when the bug will be fixed, which is just unfathomable coming from them.

Apparently, it seems this is a file size issue and as such, Square Enix says freeing up storage space by removing some of the games saved photos and/or keeping saving slots to 1 or 2. In case this doesn’t work, restarting the game at the risk of losing your current game session is the other alternative.

How do you recover from having constant trainwrecks every other day? Neither Google or Square know why anything is happening, and there's a chance the issue may never be fixed, so those 4 FFXV players may just have to start their game over at some arbitrary point. I guess Square won't be partnering with Google again in the future.

Also the overheating issues are becoming large on forums, some Chromecasts just don't work. This is becoming a nightmare, was it so hard for Google to release a finished product? You can't even use the Stadia controller with Laptops or phones until 2020, a feature they advertised would be ready out the box!

Hey, at least everyone who was frightened this would change the direction of the industry can breath easy now, so there's that. ;)

Who was the dude who uploaded the pic with Nin/Sony/MS/PC fanboys crying and Google fanboy smiling? How you smiling now with that train wreck boi? Lol

They both need to point the finger at the real culprit - the cloud. Who knows what is going on up there and what kind of power it has. Microsoft tried to harness it but they just couldn't squeeze out the secret white cloud sauce. I feel the cloud is growing too strong since it is now holding game saves hostage until it's demands are met for more chromecast ultras in homes and more secret sauce squeezers.

The whole notion of Stadia is baffling to me.
"Let's sell old games at full price with added input lag and worse image quality, but online only because we will run the games and stream them to the players."
Then there's a bug on a game and Google :
There's a bug!
Blame the developer.
The developer doesn't know why there's a bug.
No? Meh.. Fuck it!

"We have a workaround that might work, but once you get to a point 80 hours in and you can't save you can just restart the game. Then never finish the game."

Ff15 seems like a perfect game for stadia, the combat is such a confusing shitshow that even playing with input lag doesn't really make a difference...

FF15 would work a lot better as a game if they removed all of the gameplay and put in cutscenes.

Don't give two shits about game streaming whatsoever including but not limited to Stadia but shouldn't this be 100% on Square Enix for NOT optimizing their game to fully work correctly on Stadia?

Am I missing something here? (you know, besides those who are missing their game save file, lol)

I hate to be the sole optimist here in the thread but maybe its part of a combined plan to make the Stadia the go to console for FFXV speedrunning. everyone loves a super niche market right?

I feel like not allocating enough disk space on the FFXV instance that is running is a Stadia issue and Google needs to fix it by increasing the space allocation for FFXV.

I thought the whole point of the cloud was infinity virtual storage or whatever?

Stadia will get better but its launch is definitively one of Google biggest failures. People who think that square enix is going to move away from stadia are in the wrong; stadia is exactly the future they want for video gaming

Anyone know how in the year 2019, a game maker can still screw up saving a game file?
It reads like basically Stadia couldn't handle FFXV game saves which could go upward to GBs depending on number of photos taken. So much for the cloud computing power right?

This is the same thing that happened when Google and Huawei made the Nexus 6P, they were just pointing fingers at each other and sending people in circles.

"Huawei and Google have agreed to pay $9.75 million to resolve class action claims that Nexus 6P smartphones were affected by two defects: a “bootloop” defect and a “battery drain” defect.
Huawei and Google do not admit any wrongdoing by settling the claims against them, but have agreed to pay $9.75 million in order to resolve the class action and avoid future costs."

This episode of Stadia is as funny as the previous ones. Are we getting another this week, or do I have to wait for next week?
Such a fantastic show, drama, tears, laughter... Mostly laughter.

I think you got HTC and Huawei mixed up.

Google hasn't made a single game yet, lol.
