What’s the point, Konami will just buy it and forward it to “SlotMachinesAreFun.cunt” anyway...

*sigh*

What a world we live in. Some companies would kill to have an ip like silent hill...

Technically, this is cybersquatting and Konami could tell ICAAN to boot you out whenever they want.

My thoughs exactly, the Silent Hill franchise is still registered and being exploited by Konami, anyone except them buying the site for a game related purpose is fecked lol

It's only cybersquatting if the person intends to use it in bad faith to make a profit or sell it. It's why the Fallout first site is still there , you better believe if they could've done anything about it Bethesda would've had that guy hanging by his nuts by now

If I had that kind of dough, I'd buy it.
And then resell it in the future for a profit if possible.
That's not how this work though.

Anyone buying that domain has no idea what they're doing, considering the title is still a registered trademark they probably wont give up any time soon. Money down the drain.

Now's the time for Kojima to announce his horror game about a Spanish guy travelling to the fictional town of Lent Hill, asking everyone he meets directions along to way.

NPC: You want to get to...Lent Hill?
MC: Si, Lent Hill.

The first game centered on the horror of asking directions. Be careful talking to that old lady there, she might have a shotgun in her petticoat.

He can buy it but Konami owns the rights to the IP sooooo, $9000 in the air.
He can afford it.

Then he can make a horror game called "The hills of Silence" or something and promote it in that very site.

Anything to mess with Konami.

Silent Hill isn't for sale though.

Do we really need more games in that exact series anyway? I think spiritual successors with new characters and stories would be better.
Actually there are a spiritual succesor...in indie form.

Hideo Kojima should buy it :)
On a side note, there are rumors of Konami selling the IP to Kojima currently. This was pretty big on the SH reddit a week or two back. The source isn't trustworthy but according to the mods, he provided proof via PMs. They said the proof was enough to convince them to at least keep the thread up. They still advise to take with a HUGE grain of salt since the proof isn't without a doubt real.

It's also worth noting that Konami renewed the trademark a month or two ago too. The last time they did it, the trademark was tagged for gambling (the usual bullshit). This most recent time, it was tagged for video gaming. Still not something to jump out of your chair about since they're most likely renewing the trademark for rights reasons.

Even all that combined with the domain name being sold shouldn't really give you any hope of an SH in development. It's a lot of movement that all means nothing. Here's the thread for anyone that cares:

EDIT: I forgot. All of this also lines up with Kojima's recent tweets and statements about wanting to do a horror game. Still, a bunch of movement that means nothing.

That would work too. It's not like the exact idea of a place being warped to reflect your fears, doubts, and nightmares is an extremely unique idea. There are just few IPs that do it so well.

No one is stopping Konami from publishing a Kojima Productions game. Maybe it’ll happen, or maybe it won’t. The fact is that it can happen. Business is business. No one is selling the IP, cause Konami doesn’t need to. Financially, they’re doing the best than all their Japanese constituents.

edit: and incase I missed it, nowhere in the rumor does it say Konami is selling the IP to Kojima.

edit 2: if Kojima does get to develop a Silent Hill game, the main concern is the writing. As much as I like Murata, there’s no one on staff that has written anything like SH.

There’s also this, if we’re talking about rumors.

Weren't there rumors that Microsoft tried to buy the Silent Hill IP for cash but Konami wanted Microsoft stock? I could see Kojima Production and Sony producing a Silent Hill game.

Yeah, someone made a thread about that on the SH reddit not too long ago too. Apparently the entry was updated early September (?) and it was there for months. I believe it was originally "Project Mist" before being renamed. I left it out because of all the pieces of "evidence", that Wiki entry was the most tenuous.

My bad about the "Selling the IP to Kojima" detail in me post. I misread "Konami will land the Silent Hill IP to Kojima productions" in the original post.

Here’s hoping Project Fog isn’t a mobile gacha game based off of Silent Hill.

"I have tons of ideas to develop a revolutionnary military FPS and a team ready to start right now.
Sadly, Activision refuses to sell the Call of Duty license to me.... My hands are tied, there's no way this game would be relevant without the COD name."

Yeah, right.
