Warcraft III: Reforged will launch for PC PC on January 28, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. PT / 6:00 p.m. ET / 11:00 p.m. UK, a delay from its previously planned 2019 release window, Blizzard Entertainment announced. The game is currently available for pre-purchase in both $29.99 standard and $39.99 “Spoils of War” editions at the Blizzard Shop.

“Though we’ve been working hard to get Reforged in your hands before the end of the year, as we started approaching the finish line, we felt we’d need a little extra development time for finishing touches,” Blizzard Entertainment said in a news post. “As always, our goal is to honor the high standards you hold us to.”

Here is an overview of the game, via the Blizzard Shop:

A Classic Favorite, Reforged

Warcraft III: Reforged is a stunning reimagining of the revolutionary real-time strategy game that laid the foundation for Azeroth’s most epic stories. It is a remake in the truest sense, featuring a thorough visual overhaul, a suite of contemporary social and matchmaking features, and more. Command the Night Elves, Undead, Orcs, and Humans as alliances shift and armies clash in this timeless real-time strategy game.

Azeroth, Born Anew

Experience an Epic Story – The founding of Orgrimmar. The fall of Lordaeron. The reign of the Burning Legion. The rise of the Lich King. Veterans and newcomers alike will experience these pivotal events in Azeroth’s history like never before.

The Battlefield Awaits – Play through the points of view of four distinct factions: the mighty Orcs, the noble Humans, the ancient Night Elves, and the insidious Undead. Gather resources, build your base, and assemble an army. Recruit powerful heroes to lead your forces, and meet your foes in battle. Destroy the enemy base to win the game!

Vast Campaigns – Relive the events of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne. Enjoy an epic saga retold with over four hours of reshot cutscenes and updated voice-overs that breathe new life into the earliest renditions of Azeroth’s key characters, across more than 60 single-player missions that span Kalimdor, Northrend, Lordaeron, and beyond.

Reimagined Visuals – Every character, structure, and environment has been recreated to emphasis the depth, dimension, and personality of this rough-hewn fantasy world. Behold Warcraft III’s classic units in glorious 4K, with updated animations that bring them to life like you’ve never seen.

World Editor & Custom Maps – Return to the game that started it all. Discover a vast universe of player-created games, including tower defense, MOBAs, RPGs, survival games, and more—or build your own with the upgraded World Editor.

Multiplayer Matchmaking – Challenge opponents with modern multiplayer matchmaking, search for custom game lobbies, and connect with friends through the Blizzard Battle.net app. With updated UI and countless quality-of-life improvements, its never been easier to get into Warcraft III.

I mean if you have it pre-ordered you can already play the MP in the beta. So you're just waiting for the campaign really.

Is it good? Never played Warcraft games. Not even WoW, but I know this is a prequel.
I thought it was good. Back in the good ol' days when Blizz could do no wrong.

Do you like real time strategy games though? I mean, if you're not too hot on the genre, then this might not be your cup of tea.

Well, most strategy games I play are turn-based so I'm still kind of new to RTS but I liked Dawn of War II.
It's worth a shot, I guess. How expensive is 30 bucks to you, anyway? If you're tight on cash, then it might not be the best purchase just on a "maybe".

Well yeah if it isn't done yet and has crashes in common configs, delay it. Half of people are out of office about now until dec 30th or Jan 2nd.

That's fine, I can wait one more month if they need the time.

I even would wait two more for the best RTS ever made!

If you have lots of time to sink on one game then I’d say go for it. WoW days were my best and worst at the same time

Always striving for better gears and all that. Which makes it fun. MMO’s are in my blood and they’re so much fun

Thing is they've taken big steps back compared to what they originally promised. There's even a petition to bring back the improvements and new content they originally planned: https://www.change.org/p/blizzard-re-include-what-was-promised-and-marketed-in-warcraft-iii-reforged

Looks to me like they want your money, but don't want to spend a lot of resources working on the "remake".

After seeing videos I'm not impressed neither interessed in the game. Not a fan of what they did to Shadow Hunter, so I'm expecting crap treatment to others as well.

I will stick with my Frozen Throne.

Its pretty good. Its a strategy game that rewards you for training and getting to fight enemies soon. The hero mechanic was a nice move to get you out of town.

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!

1000 people petition is nothing for such a game/company. They basically just went back on re-doing the whole story with new cut scenes/va/lore that matches WoW retcons and instead leave the original stuff in (with the new assets and all, since much of it is in-game cut scenes in a lovely style).

Not a problem for most people. If not actually a preference like the dude above who doesn't even like the new graphics, imagine how much he'd hate a new story that changes a beloved character instead of just a unit :p

I'll probably get this even though I don't play RTS much, the story and RPG-lite style with the heroes was cool and it's been ages since I had the game. It would be cool if it also revitalized the mod scene (I don't care for DOTA personally).

It'd be nice if they make it like StarCraft where you can play it with the original looks without buying the new version but its core is still updated to match/crossplay/run modernized etc. But I guess they wouldn't (especially not for free, lol).

Most disappointing part of this year's Blizzcon. One of the main reasons I was excited to play Reforged was to experience a radically different campaign with all new cut scenes as I don't think the graphical update alone will entice me to buy it on day one.

i was looking forward to this when they were talking about possible new content and stuff beyond just updating the graphics but now that theyve scaled back its not as interesting to me. starcraft is rough to go back to but the original wc3 still holds up pretty well

yeah, I have a feeling you might be right. But WC3 is a very special game for me and I just want to replay the campagne and community maps.
I have put thousands of hours into that game and its addon when I was younger, I could even wait a few more month till they drop the price ^^

I know the petition is small, but tbh the audience for this remake also seems small. I don't follow this project closely, but it looks to me like a combination of reskins, upgraded graphics, 4K support and improved compatibility. Not nearly enough to charge people 30€ for it.

$30 isn't expensive. At least for myself, it's pretty much a brand new game, since I never played the original. And it looks like it has plenty of features too which is good.

Can anyone confirm that game's graphics have been downgraded. I have seen the streams and they look lot different than the initial release.

I’m ashamed to admit I missed out on 3 when it was first released. Definitely looking forward to this 👍
