Lesbian KIss scene removed from Singapore Rise of Skywalker release.

It's in the background at the end, with bird lady from TLJ and some other woman.
I wouldn't be surprised if anyone remembers this movie considering there are more jump cuts than a YouTube vlog. Also was it just me or was there several times the plot would jump to something new out of nowhere made you think you micronapped several times?

It's highly likely that the corporate goons at Disney and in charge of Star Wars who green lit this scene, which is essentially an inclusivity checkbox ticking exercise where the same guys who green lit removing the scene for domestic markets in a culture sensivity checkbox ticking exercise.

Moral of the story: they're probably thinking they shouldnt have bothered in the first place. They would be right - that scene felt forced and was unnecessary.

In the US version they took out a VERY visible Palpatine-penis right before he broke out the skyward force lightning. Whether practical or a joke by someone in effects, it was at full mast

This is my fav example of how idiotic censorship can be. This example is of USA censorship. "BOOBS ?! oh hell naw... cover it with blood!"
Move over for new remastered version with removed censorship:

Its Singapore, they barely let anything pass. Braveheart went from like 2 and a half hours to 20min by the time they finished editing it.

Saw it immediately when I went.

Not a big deal but I guess it'll satisfy the intersectionalists since it's both lesbian and interracial (the other girl looks black iirc)

They could've had Temmin Wexley feeling up Klaud at the Resistance base so totally missed opportunity there.

It's also unfair to conservative parents who take their children out to see what is basically a kids movie only to be exposed to this.

Is it really going woke having two girls kiss in the background near the end of the movie where it could easily be missed and only lasts a second or two?

I was expecting Poe and Finn to get their fuck on. Now that would have been progressive.

No, it's barely anything, which makes it all the more insulting that it was removed for localization.

But I guess you were cool with this?

Leia (after Luke tells her she's his sister): Somehow, I've always known....
Luke: Ooooookay, but you kissed me pretty hard in the previous movie.
Leia: That was CLEARLY to make Han jealous according to the fanbase who refuse to acknowledge Lucas himself admitted he made the story up as he went along.
Luke: Oh yeah, that's totally less fucked up.....

Also, a kids' movie? This is the same franchise where one film ends with every major hero dead at the end and that's not even touching on the countless limb removal and body slicing that happens so frequently in the series. This ain't no Illumination shit, christ the OT would likely be rated PG-13 if the rating had existed when they were originally released.

Also, do conservative parents just lock their kids in the house and throw away the key? How long do they think they can hide stuff like this from them? Not to mention how insulting it is to any LGBT individuals who know the parents: "hey, if you're in a same-sex relationship, could you never bring them along with you or mention them around my kid? Wouldn't want to corrupt my child!" Yeah, if I were LBGT, that friendship would end right there, it's just a lame ass excuse for intolerance. My sister and brother-in-law are both conservative/Christian and I know they wouldn't treat any LGBT friends that way.

I don't recall a lesbian kiss?

Nobody really does. It was shoehorned in, that´s how Disney operates. Just add stuff in the background, like Waldo.

Also wasn´t Rey already kinda "gay, transy"? She was more man than woman in this trilogy. Remember ever talking to a female human being about banal stuff and her putting her hand on your shoulder in a condescending way?

It's the same in Malaysia as well. There was an awkward audio cut at the end, figured there was something cut out. Not that the scene added anything to the narrative, so whatever, I guess.

its so sad how little sex and love is allowed in new films.

like i saw so many people saying "Ugh! why is Zorri Bliss there, just to remind people Poe isn't gay?" and im like, is there something fucking wrong about two adults wanting to bone during wartime?

then you see people saying "Rey shouldn't end up with anyone!" and again, what postmodern dreck is this? i get "she don't need no man" but do we want to consign all of our heroes to now live and die alone without ever having started a family?

so yeah, whoop de doo at some randos in the background, because none of the main characters have developed feelings for one another. it's sad how far our myths have fallen.

Good, they should delete the scene entirely. No one wants to see that big nose ugly bitch kissing anyone...

Now If it was Rey making out with Carrie Fishers daughter.....that could be the whole movie.

Damn, that's insane. I would NEVER go if I had to spend that much.
"Kids, you want to see Star Wars or have food for the rest of the week"?
I tend not to besides big releases. The daughters both love Star Wars so I take them. But it’s like twice a year. At home I use VUDU so we can all share movies I buy. Physical is only for movies I LOVE and it’s off limits to the kids bc they get lost or ruined.

It felt so forced too! Like they were told to make sure we had lesbians so they like did it for a split second for no reason. Both my wife and I eye rolled at it. I could give two shits about gay or straight in Star Wars and wouldn’t care if Rey was a lesbian or whatever it just didn’t belong there. I would have eye rolled if a hetero couple was there too but this was even more cringey bc you knew why it was there in the first place. Agenda bullshit

It's propaganda, meant to promote an ideology on people watching the film. And you know this as well as I do. No reason why homosexuality should even exist in the SW universe.

Its not propaganda, lesbians kiss just like straight people do..
Hell, Luke Skywalker very romantically kisses HIS SISTER in The Empire Strikes Back.

Of course it's propaganda : why would homosexuality even exist in the Star Wars universe? I wear glasses, and I don't recall anyone in Star Wars needing glasses. So apparently near-sightedness doesn't exist in that universe. Same with a lot of real-world realities. No cancer, no Alzheimer's disease, no epilepsy, no leukemia, no autism, no divorce (I think?), etc. No need for homosexuality to exist, and no need to linger on two women kissing -- come to think of it, showing two people kissing was actually rare in the old movies, I think, aside of course from the big kisses between the romantic leads.

Ashkually I think the doctor in Mandalorian wears glasees.

I don't really care that much that we got a 2 second shot of an intersectional kiss. I mean it's transparent as day that Disney is trying to make lgbtq community happening and pandering a bit. But it's Current Year so who isn't in Hollywood nowadays?

Star Wars is basically now Star Trek to a degree and with the whole 'cinematic universe' treatment it's getting I expect things like you mention showing up, such as autism, albeit done in a more Star Wars-ish kind of way.

Its not propaganda though. There was no press release or congratulatory articles out about how having lesbians in Star Wars is in any way brave or revolutionary. Have you actually seen the movie? It is not a lingering scene at all and nobody would have even noticed it had it not been for the overbearing censorship in Singapore.

I can't honestly think of anything to convince you that homosexuality is not a loathsome disease like cancer. Its quite depressing that you feel that way and I hope that you will some day come to think otherwise.

There were articles praising (and some complaining it wasn't good enough) their treatment and inclusion of minorities, women and lgbt. Day after the movie was released I saw articles like that popping up.

So that's a lie

took 2 seconds to find it.

Just goes to show how much these corporations truly care about these issues. LGBT representation is just a PR check mark in Hollywood, and instantly removed if it means they lose a single dollar over it elsewhere. Disney couldn't even take a higher age rating to support LGBT where it actually needs it far more. People who think these corporations have any morality at all are delusional. Their loyalty is to the almighty dollar, and no one takes any responsibility of the actions of the company other than what's mandated by law or what could provoke a negative response resulting in more losses than profits. It's up to the people and governments to demand better, whatever the issue is, because otherwise the only thing that matters is money. And as we can see here too, there's always some fundie ready to spew their hateful ideology if given the chance and deny other people their freedom.

How is homosexuality comparable to terminal illnesses or other conditions that can kill you?

Even I get sick of Disney's pandering to minorities but you're taking this a little too seriously. Especially for a franchise that lingered on an incestuous kiss.

You guys get your my little ponies in a bunch about everything. Nobody noticed 'the kiss' at the time and the people that did dont care.

It's a big deal in some circles.

For example, Variety's entertainment writer straight out of the premiere:
