A bit disappointed with AEW not having either Riho or Hikaru Shida wrestle as they are far away the 2 most entertaining female talents.

Kenny Omega/Hangman is not working at all

Butcher/Blade/Bunny - Butcher is physically too big for almost all other wrestlers in the division and made for a very weak match with Darby present who looked like a child. Bunny might be the hottest female in wrestling as there's a 4th "B" added to their team, my Boner

Jurassic Express needs to go away

Young Bucks are called one of the greatest tag teams of all time yet routinely suck total fucking ass, either put the belts on them to make all the self promoted blowjobs mean something or shut it with their greatness

Jericho is at his best being a comedian and not a bully, weak performance for him lacking his usual charisma

I like Dark Order for the unique promos but in order to build them right they essentially have to be a threat to everybody in the enterprise or it wont work, hopefully this wasn't just a one off for the ending of the show.

AEW started off feeling like WCW. Now it feels like TNA.

It’s such an odd show. They also need to stop assuming everyone is watching every video they put out on social media. I’m someone who knows who most of their roster is. But they can’t just rely on that. They need to show their audience why they should care about these people. Maybe someone has heard all this hype about Kenny Omega but has only watched WWE so has never seen him. But they haven’t positioned him as anything that special. I get that the VPs are hesitant to push themselves too much but you have to use what you have.

Also, people can’t really say Meltzer is some AEW schill. He absolutely shat on this week’s show.

Yeh that’s a good example of the kinds of problems AEW is having. I get that Excalibur is the guy that’s knowledgeable about the Indy scene so they want him to know who these guys are for the fans at home who do too. And you want JR to be the voice of the more casual fan to ask questions on their behalf. But they obviously didn’t have any instruction on what to do beyond that, so you leave them both in an awkward position. What’s frustrating is it was basically a repeat of the Dark Order’s debut where Excalibur knew who they were, JR was prompting him to explain more but he obviously didn’t know how much he could say. And in that example I wonder if they didn’t have The Dark Order name chosen and Excalibur obviously couldn’t just say Super Smash Bros like he’s used to.

Obviously WWE’s main roster stuff isn’t great right now but that kind of thing would never happen there. Everything is too tightly controlled and everyone knows exactly what they should be doing at all times. WWE is over produced, but that doesn’t mean AEW has to go the opposite way. There’s a balance there.

NXT tops AEW Dynamite in total viewers, gets first win in 18-49 demo

Going up against coverage of the presidential impeachment hearings that dominated the cable TV ratings scene, NXT ratings rose this week, averaging 795,000 viewers on Wednesday night.

That number was up two percent from last week. Perhaps more importantly, the show was up 13 percent in the important 18-49 demo. NXT averaged a 0.27 rating, good for 27th place for the night on cable.

The news was not as good for AEW Dynamite. That show averaged just 683,000 viewers overall, down 12 percent from last week. It was the second lowest viewership total so far on TNT.

NXT got its first win against Dynamite in the 18-49 demo this week. Dynamite was down 11 percent in that demo -- to a 0.25 rating -- and finished 31st for the night on cable. That rating was the lowest in the history of the show.

While NXT usually only wins in the 50+ demo, this week they won every category except for men 18-49 and females 12-34.

NXT's biggest win was in the 50+ demo, averaging a 0.36 rating to Dynamite's 0.27. But the impeachment hearings also drew heavily from that demo, so it's reasonable to assume the show may have had an even bigger lead with no competition.

Dynamite is off next week due to Christmas but will return on New Year's Day.

Here's a look at the last 10 weeks of ratings for both shows:

AEW losing over half its audience from its first week, and a huge drop in the big demo not a good look. I think we can say that fans are being turned off by what they are seeing. The people who tuned in the first bit decided not to come back and have given up. It doesn't seem like they went to NXT either.

NXT has been pretty steady since going head to head with AEW. Keep in mind that they are missing probably a good 200K or more that decided to stick with the network.

YB/Omega/Jerhico might have over valued themselves as draws. Twice that Y2J has been in a hyped match and both times the ratings were low. Then you have the YB challenging for the titles and Kenny in a dream match and its one of AEW's lowest rated shows.

Its not all doom and gloom, TNT is probably still happy enough with the audience and as long as they have TV they can continue to work on their product. But it has really started to feel like WWE lite lately. No big revolution to the business, just the same ol same ol. 20 min interview segments, 50/50 booking etc...

Disagree with the Young Bucks take. Almost every match they've been involved in has been gold. Also I like Jurassic Express.

Just got reminded of the time Chris Bosh referenced Austin 3:16 in a promo at BOLA and AJ Styles didn't get the reference and got legit pissed at the blasphemy

Pretty sure Lars had some type of mental breakdown, and has some type of mental illness or something real that he was having trouble dealing with when he first got called up. EC3 was called up with no idea what to do with him, and got in trouble I think for not being able to get cheers against Ambrose (Which is dumb). I was never a big EC3 fan, but his NXT run did nothing to make him something that people should have cared about and I think was one of the panic callups from Vince.

AEW X NJPW in the works ?

Seems more possible now than before. NJPW are no longer airing on AXS because Impact's parent company bought the channel. So AEW would give them exposure in the US and in return would get access to NJPW's roster. It seems mutually beneficial so it makes sense to do it but that doesn't mean it will happen.

I doubt it. Jericho is most likely going over and the word is the relationship between AEW and NJPW hasn't changed for the better in the slightest. This is probably just Tanahashi and Jericho hyping their match. Hell Tanahashi even mentioned Naito getting an offer from WWE and telling him he should go during their build up, so this is par for the course when it comes to him.

The New Japan guys, the top ones in particular, seem to get a lot of freedom in what they are able to say to the press. As another Tanahashi example he buried Shibata when he returned. There also seems to still seem to be some frostiness between New Japan and Omega & The Young Bucks. It wouldn’t shock me to see them work something out but it might still need some time.
