I love classic Ms. Marvel but this current iteration/mcu incarnation just omits everything interesting about the character and Larson's portrayal is bloody awful. Whether that's the writing or her creative choices I dont know but it's really disappointing because she's really good in other films.

This is what's stuck with me the most after seeing it.

It's just so sloppy, when compared to the rest if the MCU. Lazy writing, plot hiles all over the place, no consistency to the tone or characterisation, huge continuity errors... it was just a mess in a way we've not seen since the very early days of phase 1.

A.) It's a bland origin story that belonged in 2009, not 2019. It feel s out of place. It feels 2 phases too late in comparison to other recent MCU film

B.) She's not charismatic whatsoever

C.) She's basically God-Mode once fully "activated" or whatever . Combined with B this makes the character feel wholly unrelatable

Injecting some hyper meta new-age feminist commentary in the sequel doesn't seem very appealing

The movie made 1.1 billion so maybe they're confident they can do whatever they want in the sequel
