that's great?
look, in the end we will have a Breath of the Wild situation here with how Microsoft is doing it... they want new customers and new customers won't buy the old console just because they can play the new games on there as well (but in way worse settings), noone did that with the Wii U and BotW now did they?
so it is absolutely no issue if Microsoft gives their current customers a nice farewell by supporting the Xbox One for another year.

ontop of that, many make this into this huge thing... but supporting the Xbox One for 12 months after the next gen launches... even if we are very generous with Microsofts output and say that they will release a first party game every other month in this year... that will be 6 games we are talking about... and again that's VERY generous, it will most likely be less.

Cool; now I just hope they're good and/or are to my tastes. Hasn't honestly been the case with Sony's launch offerings, generally it's the 3rd-parties who have brought the heat (Ridge Racer, Toshinden, Tekken Tag, F.E.A.R, Battlefield 4 etc.).

If the Bluepoint game is a launch title and surprises me with a beloved remake that's definitely going to push me further into picking a system up Day 1.

I don't understand Microsoft's approach to this, the tried-and-tested method of launching exclusive titles works and is vital for the longevity of the console. You NEED a strong start to continue throughout the generation yet it seems to me they're making the same mistakes they made during the Xbox One era; that is misreading the market completely and letting Sony's PlayStation have such a good start that the rest of the generation plays itself out.

There is absolutely no logic at all in not launching titles that can only be played on the XSX at it's launch. Therefore, why the hell would anyone buy one? It'll just crash it's ecosystem on takeoff making the PS5 the only legitimate choice.

Microsoft have had only one success in the console industry and that is the Xbox 360. Why do they keep having to pull a PS3?

MS approach isn't strategic. Its borne of necessity. They've been behind Sony in distributing devkits (its been mentioned on numerous occasions that PS5 is far more mature) and their studio acquisitions came much too late to contribute to the launch window.

Basically to get exclusive content they'd have to sacrifice their already thinly stretched first party to the task, leaving nothing much at all for this holiday season on Xbone. Meanwhile Sony have got so much in the first 2 quarters that they really don't need to show much for PS4. Expect DLC and things like the multiplayer expansion for TLOU2, maybe a cross-gen title in the mix.

Yeah and I've heard nothing but negative things about what is going on behind the scenes at 343...
But maybe they can still get it across the line.

As it should be.

Godfall was originally a PS4 game to be released in 2019 but was moved to 2020 for PS5. Not sure if it's a full PS5 console exclusive or a timed exclusive.

The last of us 2 remaster édition within a year....
Even if it’s back compatible , they could do it.
I’ll buy the next exclusives PS4 Sony games only if they say they will patch them as MS did with some of their games.

Honestly for nextgen i want more stable games with no day one patches, tired of theses broken games...
Spoiler alert:
It will never happen.

Obviously it will. Who would buy an Ps5 if didn't have new exclusive games? :messenger_tears_of_joy:

MS wants to sell services.

Sony wants to sell games and hardware.

Probably in the future MS will also sell services on the PS5.... While Sony will keep pushing exclusive content.... Soon the "war" will be between Sony and Nintendo only...

PS5 obviosly will have exclusive games on their launch window. Sony has a lot of game development teams and excluding the 3 or 4 ones who will release a PS4 game this year all the other ones must have been focusing on their first PS5 game since they released their most recent game.

Nobody is forced to do anything, people buy what they want. Businesses exist to make people want to buy products and services.

It's just that some businesses do a better job of satisfying their customers than others.
But why would you be satisfied at forced obsolescence?

Not sure why people applaud Sony for doing this.

They are purposely stopping support of the old device just to force people to upgrade.

Because early adoption creates the momentum for future adoption rates and it is critical to avoid a launch failure that dooms a generation. Console gamers tend to prefer generational leaps over more iterative alternatives for a variety of reasons related to price and convenience.

And nobody is 'forced' to do anything. Some people still pew pew on ps2s.
