N7 Day: Bioware as a new Mass Effect in production, and want to hear what you like about the series (for real)

I liked Mass Effect 1. If you made more games like Mass Effect 1, I would like them too.

If that's too hard and you must cut something from the formula, cut the romances. Maybe after modern Bioware proves it can write believable and engaging friendships/working relationships/etc., it can try its hand at the grownup stuff again.

I agree with you threre. First one by far was the best. Story wise, exploration, chatacters were far and above what we got with 2 and 3. Both imo mediocre garbage

I always thought:

ME: best story, best rpg features and worldbuilding.
ME2: best characters, best quests and sidequests. Amazing DLC.
ME3: best gameplay. Best DLC

I mostly agree, although, I would still give the RPG features to ME3 tbh.

Just give more of this with a decent story

... you've got my attention.

Just wish they improved ME3's last mission and ending...
Agreed. The final 3rd act of that game was garbage, made worse by a dismal ending.

My wish is that they would rework the ending entirely so that the citadel DLC can be the bonafide ending.

Uh huh, pronouns and bodytype choice in an all 'new and improved and not bigoted' character creator incoming.

No, time and again these talentless hacks and diversity hires proved they got nothing to offer anymore. Real Bioware's dead, let it lie in peace, EA.

Yes, I'm still mad and butthurt about Andromeda and ME3 ending

Hmm... bit late for a remaster that’s just in 4k, no?

And unless it’s a MASSIVE overhaul, it will be lost in the sea of other games on SX/PS5.

This is a confusing one. I’ve wanted the trilogy on current gen for YEARS... but now, with everything going on this year?

Man... I need to figure out a way to clone myself...

We've seen remasters come late in generations before so I don't think it really matters.

Fuck that, remake the first game. Then go from there.

They could give them the Uncharted Trilogy treatment. Basically Naughty Dog upgraded U1 graphics and gameplay to U2 and U3 levels so the 3 games have graphical and gameplay consistency.

I never played it. So Mass Effect 1 with 3’s gameplay and controls? I’m in for that.

Not gonna happen. At that point it becomes a remake. That would be a significant undertaking and isn't a simple copy and paste like many would think

Not that I would be opposed to that, but there is no way.

I still don't get why people hate the Thessia mission... It's one of my favorites of the whole game, specifically because it really beats you down as a player.

I think its because you lose to Kai Leng via cutscene just after finding the key to discover the Catalyst making the whole mission "pointless", but I liked it because it's raw reality that some times you just fail at the worst possible moment. Adds to the tragedy of Sheppard.

Because it was linear and dull.

Beating you down as a player because it takes control away from you.

It was supposed to be worse. I recall reading that it was supposed to result in the death of a love interest.

Yeah... That's the reason I thought it was a good mission.

Well... I don't honestly think linear is a valid argument, considering pretty much the whole of ME2 is more linear than this mission. As for dull... I guess that's in the eye of the beholder. I thought it was interesting, although I did have Liara and Javik with me in that mission, which maybe gives a better experience than if you were there with other squad mates.

Beating you down as a player because it takes control away from you.
And this is exactly why I see it as a positive in this case. Games are too focused on always achieving success. This is a mission that failed, and there's nothing you can do about it. It leaves you feeling bad, angry, defeated, and, well, that is what it was supposed to achieve. I honestly wanted to stop playing at that point, but I kept going. Interestingly, after speaking with Anderson afterwards, he motivated me to keep going. This is a memorable moment for me, because it seemed like they deliberately beat you down to pump you up again. Maybe the pumping back up didn't work for everyone, but it did work for me. It was one of the moments I was most impressed with the game, but it seems I am quite alone in that opinion.

Well that would suck lol. The game already has too much death as it is. The mission is fine as is imo.

What version of ME2 did you play?

Most of that game is entirely optional, you make desicions constantly that effect the outcomes of everything from the mission at hand to the results of the Suicide Run, and the game allows you to screw up so badly that Shephard will will die at the end.

It's the game that most caters to player agency in the entire Trilogy. 'More linear' my arse.

PC and Xbox, with all the DLC.

The same can be said about ME1.

Really? I guess there's the option to let the terminator live at the end? No? Oh. What about the option to capture the Collector general? No? Oh...
ME2 influenced only the crew and created a bunch of plot holes in the process. ME2 is the most linear game of the entire trilogy, and that is particularly true for gameplay, where it basically became a corridor shooter. The majority of the so-called choices you could make had their consequences in ME3, and people wonder why ME3 is like it is. It's because ME2 had too much BS that they had to resolve in ME3. And even then they couldn't solve all of them, like the huge plot hole that is Dark Energy.

and the game allows you to screw up so badly that Shephard will will die at the end.
You basically have to try to do that.

It's the game that best gave you the illusion of agency.

I guess all this is linearity, right?;

I mean...that's the real diagram for the Suicide Mission of ME2

And this is how ME2 and ME3 affect to ME3 endings

Also, even if ME3's endings were preescripted, in the Original cut it was not that easy to get the 3 endings as you depended on war assets. Also a lot of the choices in ME1 and ME2 have huge impact in what happens during the ME3 campaign. For example I couldn't save both Geth and Quarians because in ME2 I thought it was a good option NOT to kill the "Renegade Geths", so in ME3 the Geth army was too strong and they annihillated the Quarians with the Reapers upgrades. The whole Krogan campaign changes brutally if in ME1 you killed Wrex or you helped Mordin to destroy the Genophage cure in ME2. Shit it even changes if Mordin died in ME2 and that's the easiest thing that can happen if you fuck up a little in ME2.

Ok ok the endings were 3 diferent colors and bla bla bla but come on the experience of the travel was amazing.
