I need to ask you all If this game has been thrown under the bus? Has Sony left all support and attention?
Also, what happend with Media Molecule? This cant be a commercial success and how can Sony still have faith in MM?
Lastly, I would love to buy it, but it seems to not have any good story for those that dont want to create?

The game isn't out, it releases on the 14th of Feb. Sony haven't started promoting it yet because it isn't out until the 14th Feb. Media Molecule have received loads of awards for Dreams so far. it's got a story and thousands of free games to play. I don't understand why you think you need to create. It baffles me every time someone posts that. I'm a Youtuber and spend all my time 'playing' games in Dreams. Scroll up.

Well then Sony has a big problem on their hands. The image and preseption of this game is much like what I wrote. There is a bad mix of mis communication and no clear identity besides "here is a wierd game that many cant put a finger on what it is".
But, cool, I will look on at your and other videos.
Still, be broad market will not buy it, but I as a gamer might give MM my money.

I came to this thread when I saw the title and thought oh what happened to that, it looked cool... was it ever released, was it ever killed... why is no one taking about it?

Why would it be a bad move to promote the very people who are creating content for the launch of Dreams?
I see what you're saying, because the poster you responded was asking why they haven't started to promote the story mode yet, but I'm coming from the perspective of wondering why they haven't promoted the game at all yet with their impending public launch.

Ah. OK. I'd like to see some more promotions myself to be honest. I suppose, and this is complete speculation, with something that's essentially a 'service' above all else (akin to Youtube) and having at least a ten year plan, perhaps Sony don't feel there's a rush?

Because the people that should matter most (at least at launch) at the MM devs that created their story mode with the same tools that the average gamer can use. I want to see what the best of the best created.

Exactly, I'm in early access, but I'm only interested in what Mm's story mode offers before I jump back in.

And that would be a mistake. The community aspect is a value-add IMO. At the end of the day, Mm's story mode needs to be a great/fantastic game that stands apart from the creation and community stuff because if Mm themselves can't create a great game, then what chance do the community have? I'm not saying I agree with this perspective exactly, but I think the general public and reviewers would probably feel this way.

What about all the great creations people have made? What is it you think MM can offer that those can't, apart from a longer experience?

Not only longer, but a degree of consistency, the feelings of going through a journey/story. Seeing the limits of what the engine is capable of.

Don't get me wrong, I've been impressed by what I've seen of the community stuff. I watch a lot of the streams, but I think since the beginning of Dreams, there has been the argument that probably over 90% of the userbase are pure consumers, and not creators.

It's a difficult enough thing to describe, but I'm looking for a traditional game experience from Mm. It's great that they've exposed all the tools to end-users, it's super impressive. I just feel without a solid campaign, the potential of the game won't be seen by the general public and it will always get painted with the brush of being "just a tool/engine" and not an actual game. They need to get away from that impression IMO, but it might be too late.

I might be completely wrong about all this of course, the idea of Dreams being mainly a tool/engine might be a strength, but anyway I just hope it's a major success. We'll see.

It isn't a game though. It IS a development tool. If it gets labelled a game then I'll have to keep typing 'people still don't get it' forever! LOL. They've got to sell it for what it is. The thing that will kill Dreams dead is the search function and ease of access. THAT is the only thing that I feel will ruin any chances of it being huge, although I think it will sell very well anyway. It's the thing I'm least impressed with and hate with a vengeance.
