Dreams going to PC makes sense as it pretty much is a form of a game engine, mouse and keyboard controls on that is a dream!

I wonder if theres gonna be export tools available?
I believe Mm already confirmed they are looking at ways to export. I may be wrong.

Edit: "We want people to be able to go to the moon with their projects. [...] The very limited exporting features the moment are like exporting a video, but we have in the long-term [plans for] exporting a standalone game outside of Dreams entirely - exporting to other devices and beyond."

How does such an agnostic future work with a platform holders 30% sales ecosystem? Yet another PC store??

I can understand a streaming service being self contained, but publishing your titles on another’s platform is just game sales, a far cry from owning a whole platform.

Dreams makes a lot of sense it would be great on PC to give that game as much reach to creators as possible.

But I still think people are jumping the gun assuming "thIS MUSt MeAn aLL PlaysTation GaemZ to Pc DaY aND DAte WiTH ConSole" Sony's isn't gonna make it that easy to ditch their platform. Hold your horses.

And it sure won't be the last :D no point in getting an PS5, since their multiplat games are even worse looking compared to Series X lol
Can you tell me a PS5 title going to PC?

What are you guys smoking if you think Sony are going to put their PS5 games on the PC in the next 3 years?
If you can wait that long then fine you're in a minority and you were never going to buy a PS5 anyway but if you think for one second this is going to affect the sales of the PS5 then you're crazy,

huh? they are putting PS4 first exclusive games on PC. why shouldnt they do the same with PS5? The PS5 userbase will be very small at the beginning, so it would make sense.. bigger userbase == more software sales == more profit

Mostly 3-4 year old exclusives that are charged for nothing at this point.

They won't do this for PS5 at the beginning because they'll need their strong exclusive games to sell the system. Which as of this moment they would appear to have a full advantage over Microsoft in that department. They're gonna use them.
They WILL do it eventually no doubt but not until they have a comfortable lead in the next generation. Then it's time for extra cash like you suggest.

"hurrr?"

Because PS4 games are about to be a generation OLD, and Since PS5 is backwards compatible why not sell the old games on PC. PS5 Games would remain exclusive to move consoles, at least for a long time.

Old games? Dreams is not released yet.
Don't waste your time dude from the looks of it people will make any excuse to why there're exceptions to games yet to be released on the ps4 coming to pc.

I think Jim and company are the main catalyst to this "new" strategy

Has nothing to do with "omgz morz pplz get to play" smoke screen because Sony could of done this at the beginning of the generation like Microsoft did.

So why now

I'd say at least one thing that helped that decision was probably the success of Halo Reach on steam.

OT: Does it make me a bad person that im enjoying the meltdowns and denial from the fanboys everywhere? Lol

I'm not sure what your angle is here. Do you think PS5 will release games simultaneously on PC and PS5 in the future? Is that what you're getting at?

Dreams isn't a traditional game. I mean have you seen it? Of course it's an exception. It's not a game designed to sell PS4s by any means and again Sony isn't interesting in selling PS4s all that much anymore. The generation is over it's done.. who cares if the games make it over to PC.
I fully except games like God of War and others to make an appearance on PC in the future as well and I fully expect you to be back to me saying "HAHA you said 3 years God of War is only 2 years LOLZ"

The lack of a bigger picture sense is astounding in these fanboy threads.
Some of the posters in here I wouldn't trust selling Lemonade in a lemonade stand.

We moved on from cloud being the future? I thought cloud was the key to unlocking the "everyone being able to access great games" future? Now it's multiplatform development.

Anyway, I doubt Sony is going to reach a point where a PC version of a 1st party studio game is a given, let alone at release. However if they do head towards that I think they'd probably eventually do it through their own digital store on PC, I mean they got enough first party content to make it work, they even got VR content. I don't think it's impossible that they would reach that point though, I mean their hardware is pretty much standard at this point and their software has never really been married to their hardware.

Releasing the Dreams creator kit for free and charging PC players to access the network of creations seems like a good way to get a lot of creations from that market without much effort.

But what will happen with PS4 version? If people are creating "dreams" with PC, it pretty probably those "dreams" doesn't works on PS4 or run bad.

Godfall, first announced PS5 game is already confirmed on PC too.

If Dreams works anything like the previous MM titles, each stage has some kind of software-calculated thermometer that reaches a max "temp" when the level becomes too filled with objects.

I actually hadn't considered this.

Selling their games through Steam or such would only hurt their bottom line, since the profit from individual titles is small change compared to the revenue such 'advertisment' exclussives bring in from sales of other games on their platform.

But, if they're planning on creating a Playstation PC store, and having crossbuy for any game sold on Playstation or PC, and thus able to get PC players into their ecosystem, that makes sense to me.

Hell, that way if you want to play games in more than one room, or more easily let your kids play multiplayer games together with each other and/or friends, well now you have a reason to buy a Playstation, since you already own games they can play for it.

Beta dreams worked with the thermometer but will Sony lock performance from PC version to PS4 stats? PC players will angry with that

They could just put a thermometer in with 2 markers on, one showing PS4, and a higher level showing what your rig can handle.

That way the player can decide for themselves if they want to make something PS players can play too or not.

Don't be mad because there's logical answers to these questions.

It's still a PS4 game it should run fine. Why even worry about that, let Sony worry about that.

Yeah I like his idea.

Ultimately we won't know until/unless it comes to PC. I'm just speculating.

Sony should just do what they do best and march to the beat of their own drum, stop listening to the opinions of whats good for the brand or what will rake in more money. These are pc warriors who beg for almost every console title to hit the platform, yet consoles are plebs?... let historically proven consoles that hove stayed at 3rd place continue to talk and mentally massage its fanbase with noise.. just do you sony... as the sony of past has done and be a industry lead alongside nintendo.

I think sonys current strategy of how they release on pc from 2nd party is fine even 1st party if they choose to go that route just as long as its 2-3 years later, i dont think that is snubbing your fanbase if you release on pc. I highly doubt as some have already noted that they will begin to release flagship titles day 1 on other platforms or within the first 18months for the matter. Timed exclusive or not if its a game i really want to play or interested in im not going to wait a fucking year to play it on my souped up rig or whatever, thats just torture and stupid, dont drink the koolaid people try to give you. Final fantasy 7 remake will be the perfect example. I wonder how many will crack once the game is out and invest in a console if they dont already have one. ijs... a year is a long time think about it.

Theres also the matter of multiplayer paid subscriptions on console further bolstering the platform holders bottom line.

The answer is likely obvious; only older, select games will be allowed to venture out. Likely games that are there to entice the purchase of a sequel only available on exclusive hardware; building the user base within the eco system.

Dreams is definitely a software that will do far better on PC with higher hardware power, kb/m controls and allow developers to modify their UI and capabilities even further.

lol this couldn't be more wrong :D

1. Dreams isn't even out yet, so you can't even call that "old".
2. Dreams will not get a sequel.

Wow, this one actually excites me, because the controls in Dreams are pretty ass and take a lot of getting used to. But, mouse and keyboard? That would change the creator tool completely.

But then you'd also miss out on PSVR functionality, I'm guessing? That would be a big drawback unless I get PCVR and it supports that.

Dreams would be lost among the dozens of free game and art making tools, even on Steam that also sells software

Please do not put words in my mouth, I simply stated that people will make any and every excuse to why Sony games are appearing on the pc and yes I believe, IN THE FUTURE, Sony will indeed start releasing their games simultaneously with said PC versions.

And I stick what my logic, why now and not when Microsoft started doing this very same thing. It's not rocket science, the money from pc users have been there for years fir Sony to take advantage of so why all of a sudden to it now when they are leading in sales amoung other things.

Noone has yet to explain this.
