You guys, I bought a bike [vroom vroom]

So guys, I wanted to share my happiness with yall. I bought a bike. I've always considered getting one, and now finally I got one.
I can't wait for winter to pass to drive this bad boy. I always found that fascinating. Open road, wind blowing in your face, adventures etc.
I bought a smaller displacement bike, Keeway Supershadow 250. It's 250cc and it's a V twin design (2x 125 cc). Quite affordable.
So yeah, I just thought I'd share this news with you.

Ride safe man. Ride extra safe.

Goddamn with bikes I can't stress this enough. I'd highly discourage anyone from getting a bike.

I hope you have a lotta fun with the thing. But goddamn, be safe.
Thanks man. I'll be sure to drive safe.
But these style of bikes are meant for cruising, slow driving.
Those sport bikes are real death machines.

My dream bike is a Triumpth Bonneviile which I'd like to cruise on at low(er) speeds. I'm thinking about doing a bike driver's test this year, but on the other hand I'm a little bit scared. A few months ago one of my highschool buddies landed in a hospital for a few months after being involved in a bike accident and it wasn't even his fault. Some drivers are either blind or they're assholes and don't treat bikers equally.

Of course forgot to add - congrats and drive safe. :)

I used to ride, but then we had kids. I owned two bikes but had a family of bikers so I had a good selection to choose from.

I had a 07 GSXR 600 and a 02 SV650S
My dad a a Triumph Daytona 675
My brother in law and Sister had Harleys
My Grandpa had a Buell and a Ducati
My Uncle (Retired Pro Racer) had a garage full of bikes.

Sadly with the way people drive in Florida I just wont get back on a bike again. Had wayyy too many close calls that weren’t my fault. Of course I did do some stupid things due to my young age but I lived and learned lessons.

Be safe and always look out for other drivers, animals and wet 🍁.

3 of my really good friends rode bikes. 2 of them almost died on the freeway. Both in hospital for months. Other one is fine but sold it. So 2/3 chances of near death sounds legit. Not to be a downer but seriously be safe man. I've known so many people die on motorcycles.

Been riding bikes for 5 years now, almost every day. And as the other guys said, drive safe.
Also buy gear, and specially a nice helmet (a good one is expensive, but might make a difference between life and death). And I know it kinda removes the whole "wind in the face" thing, but please get a full integral one, or at least a hybrid.

One piece of advice I was given when I got a motorcycle: “There are two types of people that ride motorcycles, those that have gone down on them and those that will.”
No matter how safe you are, it’s other things that become a threat, like road conditions that wouldn’t effect a car, or other drivers that just don’t see you.
Also lane splitting, even when legal, is a dangerous thing to do. Even if you are right according to the law, who loses when you get hit by a larger vehicle?

Just how reliable is a Keeway?
Never heard of this manufacturer before...
I hope you did some research into reliability etc......
I did extensive research before purchasing. It's a reliable engine, it's an air cooled twin engine.
My biggest fear was the parts availability. Then I found out that all the parts fit from Yamaha Virago 250.
This bike is basically a hard copy of Yamaha Virago 250.

Former biker here :
Love it. Be safe.
Id say motorists are a holes but to be fair a lot of bikers are a holes. So just be aware.

Earlier today i saw a bike down and the front wheel removed. Guy looked okay but he was laying down so i imagine he may have broke a leg. Still better than a lot of possible outcomes.

Be safe. Be aware. Wear your gear. Always.

Sounds like my military friend on gun ownership : "Dont ever aim at life or anything you cant have destroyed. Theres those whove misfired a gun accidentally and those who will."

Be aware and be vigilant.

I only ride Yamaha.
Radian 600
R6
V-Max 1300

What part of the country are you in?

I have been in 2 crashes, neither time was I hurt. I always wear gear tho. Helmet, gloves, boots, jacket and Kevlar pants. Those gloves saved my ass both times. I highly recommend a good pair and investing in a helmet at least every 4-5 years.

Do they allow lane splitting? Also how common are bikes on the road in Croatia?
Yeah, lane splitting is allowed. They're fairly common. Especially in the city. During the summer, the city is chock full of those pesky 50cc scooters.
But yeah, you see a bigger bike now and then.

Ok that's good. Drivers become forced to be more aware IMO when lane splitting is legal. Its that time after winter when you need to be careful, cars may not be expecting you. Don't worry about the fear mongers. Just wear your gear and be aware. You are in a completely different head space when you are on a bike vs a car. People who have never ridden don't get it. You have to become hyper aware and im usually 2-3 steps ahead of the cars around me, I can sense when people will be turning or slowing down, or turning.

You will love it. Its become like meditation for me. Going for a ride after work makes the stress just drip off.

Is your bike chain driven, shaft drive or belt? Im guessing chain. If so invest in some good chain cleaning gear.

Thanks for the advice man.
Yeah, it's chain driven. I've already lubricated it. I bought 2 cans of oil, so I'll change that tomorrow. I also bought new spark plugs and a new front tyre. The current one is the stock one, meaning it's extremely old.
I also didn't know that the transmission/clutch uses the same oil as the engine does. I was surprised, I really didn't know that.
