Paging Dr. Farnsgoth

Remember the Hangover? It came out just over 10 years ago. That’s not that long ago.

I remember how popular this movie was and how everyone and their dog was repeating the line “paging Dr. Faggot” without a single spilled tendie. Everyone knew that the butt of the joke was not homosexuals and that the word was being used in the way that South Park used it to describe obnoxiously loud bikers.

Now look where we are. If a movie producer dared include a line like this, it’d be the end of the world. In fact, I’m surprised that Twitter hasn’t tried to retroactively cancel Todd Phillips who directed the Hangover.

What do you reckon, gaffots? How did culture change so drastically in a little over 10 years?

People can’t joke about anything currently cause everything suddenly is offensive. As for me I don’t give a shit, if one can’t take a joke no matter what kind it is then they can fuck off

Everything now is abusive and offensive. Nobody is allowed to joke or have fun especially when they sound like it but no, cancel culture are so butt hurt that they can’t take anything but a dick in the ass.

I'm actually surprised that South Park is still "allowed" to exist with the same style of jokes. Make similar jokes in some other project and the angry sjw mob will cancel it before it even enters production.

What can I say, my naga? My thread titles are so clear and succinct that they don’t even need a desperate “get ITT!!!” at the end.
It's fine with me, my ninja.

However, the mods have been vert clear about the use of that word on GAF and we don't want to see you get temporarily banned for it. The forum needs you more than ever these days, and I genuinely mean that.

The ideologues have whipped themselves into a frenzy. Any source of outrage is a precious resource that must be battled over, tapped, and extracted for maximum emotional and social payoff. No offense is too small. The outrage wells have run so dry that some individuals resort to getting offended on someone else's behalf without their knowledge.

As more and more people bury their heads in technology they miss out on valuable human interaction...when they need to interact with other people they go for the easiest way to fit in...outrage and social justice

If I had a time machine I would love to round all these crazies up and dump them in the 80s

Anyway, back on the topic of Phillips, I hink I like old school more than hangover. I enjoyed both, to be clear.

I feel the same about Tropic Thunder, so many things wrong with that movie they'd likely not allow

RDJ was on Rogan lately and they were discussing how this movie could not have been made now. RDJ was saying that most of the people that got offended at the time were white, 9/10 of his black friends thought it was hilarious.

He was also scared of even saying the word retard on the podcast. Shows you how far we've come.

Recently I can remember seeing a few - the Ace Ventura scene

Spicoli

Calling protagonists fags and spitting on them in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, in the first Lethal Weapon there are some throwaway lines busting balls about being gay, I know I'm forgetting some too. This used to be a go to in the 80's and 90's.

Never seen The Hangover in full, so it's appeal is a little lost to me.

But I'll always support politically incorrect movies, whether they be comedies or not. People are just way too goddamn sensitive nowadays, and I think we need stuff like this in our entertainment to remind people not to get too precious with themselves.

Last month I made a thread celebrating Monty Python's Life of Brian in honor of the late Terry Jones. And I mentioned that this scene would probably have gotten the Pythons in hot water today:

Most people are retarded. Put the right narrative in front in front of them, and they’ll try to exterminate an entire race overnight.

My belief is that there was never an enlightened, smart, free culture. Just a bunch of sheep being told what to do by popular culture trends, both natural and engineered.

A world that could think for itself, and critically, wouldn’t have come within ten miles of such a backwards, anti-intellectual ideology and trends, let alone embracing it on such a major scale.

As a gay man I truly don't know how society ended up being bigger faggots than myself sometimes.

One of my favorite jokes my friend told me would never be able to be said again was "Laser_Printer, if I didn't already you know we're Gay listening to Coldplay would've given it away."

Still best friend's to this day.

Life of Brian was highly controversial at the time of its release and caused quite a stir, especially amongst religious Christians calling it blasphemous. They protested it and wanted the movie banned. Outrage culture is nothing new, it just comes in different forms, such as the rise of social media making it more prevalent.
