I just find it interesting that we tolerate more "censorship" in video games than in other form of media. Why? Going back on what someone mentioned earlier, movies and books are also entirely fictional creations, and should have no more or less of an effect on your real life than video games do.

, and the whole "principles" thing is a total joke because this a product, a game that is meant to be played not a battlefield for your or REEs politcs, Fatlus is just another company out to get your money like everybody else, in fact scratch that, they are THE worst company in regards to pricing (the so called Atlus tax on DS /3DS games) and in regards to localizing their games and providing dual audio. They made a change to a single scene so it CAN make money with out any fuss.End of story.

No. People were not asking/wanting censorship and trying to suggest such only shows your ignorance. Either that or you are being purposefully disingenuous. There is a difference between complaining about devs using their game as a political soapbox/method to virtue signal (which is what many believe the AI stuff was) and not wanting devs to continue to do it in future titles versus demanding it to be removed/deleted from the game.

Welp, I guess they just lost Day1 special edition sale. Just like with Catherine, I've canceled my pre-order and am going to buy it used someday.
The gay couple is a reoccurring thing, Ryuji also mentions his encounters with them to his friends and you as Ren also get to tell him how to behave in front of them. They'd have to rewrite everything regarding this couple, not just the beach scene, since that couple is a typical japanese trope/stereotype for gay men. Which is why it's so funny to have their antics in the game.
The changes are also pretentious, because as someone else already said, there's other morally questionable things going on here like dating your hot maid teacher (which is great) which are being left in the game. It's the special snowflakes getting their wish again.

Kind of a meaningless gesture - the people who keep dragging Atlus over their treatment of LGBT characters aren't going to think this goes far enough - most people who planned on buying the game aren't going to shit the bed like some of the people here and change their mind about it.

I specifically remember people saying Mizuki's lines should not have been in the game to begin with, so. But enough about this stupid shit, let me ask you one thing(other people in here can answer too). What exactly do you think it's gonna happen in the long run if Atlus allows this kind of censorship? Like, how is this going to change their games? Maybe a black guy will appear in P6? Maybe you'll find a character like Mizuki in AI who'll try to teach players stuff very awkwardly(I do agree that felt a bit out of place)? But other than that..? I'm genuinely asking this, what worries you so much?

Does this affect the asian multi-language version? If not, I'll buy that. If it does, won't buy at all (or just wait years and buy used, as I don't feel the need to stress on buying it, as I played OG P5), mostly to at least vote with my own wallet when it comes to changes being made to bend to outrage groups. If the original work isn't changed, then changing the western version is just a show of lack of spine. At least if they changed their mind about the original scene in terms of what their intent was in contrast to what it ended up as, it'd be understandable, as it'd be fixing something in terms of their original vision. But this is just spinelessness and a typical showing of why localization often sucks.
That said, this isn't the first time localization censors thing in the West, so no need to think it's a new thing. It's just the prudes, covering themselves behind "social justice", just like Christians managed to hide behind "religious sanctity and decency" during the 80s-90s. Just look at Final Fantasy IV or many other games facing the same thing.
At times history feels cyclical, with Sony doing what Nintendo did in the 80s-90s, with left-wing people doing what the christians did in the same period.

I mean if the Sonic movie proved anything, it's happy fans = money! What has changing sex, race, sexual orientation of already established content ever accomplished in the box office except bombing (and pissing off the majority, offending more people in the long run)? Where's the logic in all this and where's all this disposable income coming from? Since they love losing money, time after time. Apply this same principle to video games and other media. LEAVE THE SOURCE MATERIAL ALONE! I would like to be proven wrong! I feel sorry for other countries that have to put up with our stupid politics.
