Shouldn't be a shock to anyone. A lot of companies are restricting travel to and from Asian regions, whether or not they have the Coronavirus active there. Also seems to me that a lot of Asian countries react VERY STRONGLY to any disease. Seem to see a lot of video and pictures from there in just about any given year where lots of people are wearing masks, etc., even WITHOUT some big public bug like we have right now. I've wondered if that was a cultural thing- more aversion to germs for example, or if it's simply a reaction to those areas where there are tons of people in crowds so people try to safeguard their health in general?

Either way, not a shock. Until this Corona virus is gone or at least not increasing in scope of infection, I expect more of the same. I believe this is also driving the memory 'shortages' and other component issues the tech field is experiencing. Plus, don't forget that a lot of manufacturing shifted from China to other countries like Taiwan and Vietnam over the past year due in large part to the tariffs put on Chinese goods. Those shifts come at a price and impact and a lot of those other markets aren't quite up to the task of providing exactly what China did. I don't think those shifts are really what's impacting Sony and MS as far as consoles go though...for them it's probably delays in production due to the virus in China. Time will tell!

Edit: IN NO WAY am I trying to cast any aspersion on asians or asian culture. Just wondering aloud about seeing those different kinds of pictures on a regular basis. Plus, China has reacted VERY STRONGLY to this bug and for something that's supposedly only as dangerous as the regular flu...it seems like overkill. So it makes me wonder and simply wonder if there are cultural/societal differences at play. That is all!

Yup, AMD been doing it for a while making the chips in Taiwan, plus ASUS is a Taiwanese company as I recall. Let's hope the virus is dealt with for the sake of souls first.

I wish reality would set in. Corona is not more deadly than influenca. They are targeting the same people (old people with existing conditions). Except it seems like Corona targets predominantly East Asian people while influenca targets mostly people in Europe/America. 10.000 people died this flu season alone in the US, yet everybody is scared because of 15 corona infections. It's ridiculous.

Well, I think the panic is again...regional mostly but is being driven by a few factors. First, China routinely lies about these kinds of things..they did the same with SARS. So people are skeptical of the official line. From what I've read a WHO team was pretty much JUST allowed in country to do their own studies. No one like WHO or the CDC has made an official statement about just how dangerous this bug is, because they haven't had the access and information. So people again, worry about a possible repeat of the black death or 1918 flu. Until those official entities that more people trust make official announcements, people will worry more.

Plus, I think that world society in general has kind of a feeling of impending doom...like SOMETHING bad will happen sooner or later, whether it's another global conflict, disease..getting hit by an asteroid.. Lots of people seem to expect that things will get worse somehow and reports of diseases like this one feed into those feelings and expectations as well. Humans tend to worry about the future a lot!

No, kids are strangely exempt from Covid-19. Nobody knows yet, why that is. If the Chinese numbers are wrong and actually ten times as high, it's probably already everywhere. It had 50 days to go around the world before the first quarantine. But I think the Chinese numbers are quite correct. China's treatment of SARS was unanimously despised by their own peple. They wouldn't dare to do it again. And they couldn't hide thousands of deaths anyway. Wuhan has higher death rates than anywhere else, because their health system collapsed, not because Covid is so deadly. When you suddenly have 500 patients requiring breathing machines, you can't do anything anymore. China didn't act fast enough and Wuhan pays the price. The rest of the world will be fine.

90fps will be an issue if some low end TVs get released that will support 120hz but not VRR.
90fps on a fixed 120hz display will look choppy. so I hope they will implement a 60fps lock just to be save.

and yes I know that VRR is an HDMi 2.1 feature, that doesn't mean all TVs have to support VRR just like not all PC screens that use the latest DisplayPort standard support VRR

I think people assume that the chips will all match, I think if some are 6x 1gb and 6x 2gb for example, it's very possible.

In general AMD's shader architecture requires an even number of memory controllers. And, you usually don't want to mix module densities (these won't behave the same in operation, denser modules are more latent). But both are rumored to be utilizing mixed memory modules. These are semi custom for a reason, so it's hard to say how it's done.

I was thinking maybe the control VM would take the 4x1GB on the MS side, but 6x1GB would seem like too much bandwidth to reserve on the Sony side.

and for me the oversaturated colors of those qleds just feels unnatural for me.
