I think we're gonna be getting a "No Man's Sky" Switch announcement very soon. Not speaking as an "insider" or that I have
"sources" for this. I just think it will happen. And before anyone says the Switch can't do it, Starlink: Battle for Atlas was a great game IMO.

Here's a really good playthrough of the Switch port of Starlink along with seemless space to planet landings and take offs(much like NMS).

So what do we reckon here?

I wonder if Nintendo have figured out that having these Directs with multiple announcements causes people to hold off on buying games because they are waiting for that "favorite" one that was announced about 6 months ago.

How many times have you read people saying they are holding off on getting a Switch until Game X is released?

Seems to me that these full 25 minute adverts for a single game that are coming up very soon would have the effect of focusing hype onto one particular title and maybe giving that title a substantial sales boost?

Are people more likely to buy Animal Crossing now when it's the only show in town compared to when they also want to hit us with teasers for about 20 new games that are coming up.

Directs are obviously good for fans but I wonder how effective they are at getting actual sales.

At this point, I think most fans just want to know what games we can look forward to for a given year. Nintendo learned some hard lessons with the Wii U so these Directs
help instill a sense of calm showing there won't be massive droughts of games ala the Wii U.

Well, that sabiwabi person, who leaked information last year to Nintendo's dismay has deleted his twitter account (due to the persons' personal situation).

Apparently he said the general Direct was surely going to happen this month, now he feels it may not happen so he deleted the account fearing backlash.

In fairness I don't understand why people put so much faith in leakers words, often they clearly have no inside information, it's just guessing game so you could be right or wrong that way: Nintendo is not that predictable.

I made a compelling case on why 2D Metroid could be out this year and then few days after that Paper Mario-Metroid rumor happened. Just sayin'.

To be fair, he had a track record of leaks that were proven to be 100% correct, and he called fake leakers out on twitter as well. It was Zippo, who likewise didn't release a leak that was proven fake, who said there were two Nintendo Directs this month. And it may turn out to be that way (next week), or there has been a change in planning, or there may have been a misunderstanding. Who knows?

And Sabi leaving twitter was due to a difficult situation with one of the people close to him, so unless he's a bastard who used this close person to cover up lies, I have to trust his word for it. :messenger_winking:

And, Digital Foundry goes into The Witcher 3's patch:

This was such a great patch the difference is night and day.

Also I added the Animal Crossing direct to the OP for anyone that didn't catch it this morning.

With us being able to be Island neighbors I thought it would be neat for some of us to share our FC if anyone wants. Or if anyone just wants to be switch pals in general :)

You have me on Switch and since I’m not home may you please PM me my friend code? Would like to participate here more. Thank you :D

Conclusion

Devil May Cry 3 remains one of the very best action games ever made. It has certainly aged in places, but that turbo-charged, combo-heavy action feels as fresh today as it did back in 2005. The new Freestyle mode – which lets players swap combat styles on the fly at any point during the action – is a genuinely excellent addition to the package, and the ability to play Bloody Palace in local co-op is the cherry on top of a Switch port that should appeal to anyone interested in sampling the devilish delights of this all-time classic.

Will add all you guys FC as soon as I get my Switch back ( let someone borrow it ) and hopefully you’ll add mine once I find out the code.....great idea!

I've done a complete 180 on this game after the Direct.
Still not happy about the save situation. What if I want to buy a new Switch?

Then buy a new Switch, call up support, and get your save file moved. They say you can do it once, but I bet they will take it on a case-by-case basis.

So this is what 2020 looks like, huh?

Unfortunately, in this particular case, it does. Think of yourself as an outlier case, and the business has hedged against you being the common situation. If you really like how the game looks, and you intend to buy a new Switch then they've provided a work around to accommodate you.

I think it's disappointing but not a deal breaker. I've written elsewhere about why the saves would be tied to the hardware. Dumb is dumb, but it can still work.

A bit of honesty: I'm really beginning to believe that Nintendo is just really bad at using the cloud. They've hired lots of cloud engineers, but you can only go as far as you can get the heads of Nintendo Japan to understand. This is more evident in their cloud saves feature where some of their biggest releases that would most logically benefit from it are not even compatible with it.... Poor design. Poor foresight. Poor management.

I still remember when Iwata went as far to say online gaming was just a fad back in 04, as if it was just some new thing. Seems like Nintendo will always be behind the curve when it comes to online gaming.

I don’t really understand what they’re missing. They literally got EVERYTHING to make a better online experience and up to date but I noticed this is all the Japanese struggle with.

The cloud saves thing is frustrating, but for most games it works fine. I use it all the time to move between my Switch and Switch Lite. I don’t know what the deal with Animal Crossing is, and why it’s so special, but almost all other Nintendo games support cloud saves.

I really don't get it either. The blueprint to a feature rich online network is out there, not sure why it's still such a struggle.

Even things like Mario Party still not having online private matches baffles me.

Don’t make start talking about the lag when playing online. Its so weird how damn random it is

Suddenly I’m playing against a Japanese or American? Like how the hell does that happen when I have plenty of others closer to me?

Haha yeah that's exactly why I put down Smash online and never bothered with it again. Although I've never had an issue with Mario Kart for some reason. Seems to run the smoothest out of all Nintendo games.

I could accept calling Nintendo hotline in 1994 when I needed help to beat Zelda. I could, just about, accept calling Nintendo in 2007 when my Wii broke. And 13 years later, when the internet is a thing and memory cards have been around for some 25 years, Nintendo’s solution is “hey, give us a call, but please understand and make sure you have the online subscription service.” Why do I need an online subscription service to transfer a local save file from a console I own to a new console I just bought? I’m €200 down and they’re asking me to call Germany to solve my problem. I don’t even have a landline :messenger_weary: It’s current year, guys.

It boggles the mind.

You would have thought someone, somewhere, concept stage, design stage, production stage, anywhere would have said “so about those save files...” But, nope. Typical Nintendo. Ignore the problem and then throw out a casual “hey fuck you buddy, give me your money.”

“We’re working on a solution” is unacceptable a month away from launch and with TWO new systems dropping in the next month.

Common sense is what Nintendon’t have.

In my life I have never seen a sensible Nintendo fanboy. Hats off to you good sir

Ha. I played for a couple hours last night. Reckon I’ve got you beat.

I haven’t tried NES or SNES games online yet. How well do they work?

I have only played a couple but it was good, and damn you for being private so I can’t creep on your switch gaming habits. But request accepted

Ah shit, I have it set to “best friends only”.

I’ll add you to best friends when I’m next on my Switch. Then you can tell me I game too much, lol. I have a very flexible work environment and Switch is perfect for that situation, so I’m on it a lot.

The cloud saves work fine. They’ve made a conscious choice to hobble the feature for this particular game. Blame the game designers.

It’s a pity that the 4 player option is disabled on Super Nintendo Online (apparently), because a GAF Smash Tennis tournament would be the bomb.

Are there any Rumors about a Metroid Prime Trilogy for Switch to shorten the waiting time till MP4 ?
Rumour is that it's finished and they're just sitting on it in order to release it during the release build up of MP4.

It is possible the Corona Virus could cause announcement delays going forward.

That being said, PAX is next week and Nintendo has the biggest booth. Unless they pull out of PAX, they must announce some things soon.
