Frankly speaking, no one even thought 12 tf was even possible. In fact, that's quite a formidable jump in power and, Phil is really downplaying how much GPU power that is as he's not referencing RDNA 2.0 in connection with the 12 Tf. That's a staggering number. I don't think Sony was aiming that high as they want to hit $399 for their next console.
You also have to take in account that Phil is doing things quite a bit different this gen. Like, they showed the Series X at the game awards. That was insane. Then they knocked it out of the park with Hellbalde II. Now, they just release some random tweet about the power of the Series X.
Clearly Phil is playing by a new playbook. He said they would be bold with announcements and such not long ago. That's what we're seeing now. Its gotta be off putting to the competition. If your opponent isn't playing by the rules like they typically do, how do you keep up with that? And don't forget, Microsoft are fully loaded and chock full of a bunch of new features and services.
We can't say for sure how Sony I handling all this. But I think we can say with confidence, this new Microsoft is a new kind of beast, and in some way, Its having an effect on how Sony is handling next gen. They've already bailed on two E3 events. They're waiting on MS to announce price so they can counter. They've canceled other events as well under the guise of the CV. Sony is definitely feeling the heat! As the market leader, they sure are tip toeing alot. There's a reason for that..

Considering MS hasn't ever won a generation and Sony has I'm inclined to give Sony the benefit of the doubt regarding the PS5. Especially coming off the momentum of this generation. To me that's just smart money. MS has been running on hopes and dreams since Spencer took over and they have to keep talking to stay relevant in the conversation.

No specs were revealed by MD, they only confirmed that they have 12TF, which they charged their distributors on YouTube and social media to propel and put out there and also told them to say Sony only has 9tf.....MS knows their numbers and we knew it too because of these social media distributors, what MS does not know is Sony's spec, so they try to lowball the PS5 number so Sony will respond, but Sony won't, this is a kindergarten game to try to elicit a response from the market leader, it won't work....
MS has done no reveal. We already knew the console was 12TF, we already knew it had BC...... Because MS distributors had already revealed that..... No YouTube personality at this point knows PS5's console spec because Sony does not leave its marketing to Sony fans on Social Media to say.... PS5 is 14TF and Series X is 8TF to build fake hype...When the PS5's spec is shown to not only higher than 9TF, but higher than 12TF, MS's reputation will sink even further than where it already is.....
Sony is still showing current PS owners why they choose them over and over again and why MS does not have a clue..... They are releasing several Goty's this year, for hardware that exists now, that can be bought now and they are showing unflinching support for that hardware with their best efforts in year 7. MS is known for short-lived hype parties, which every body regrets going to.... OG XBOX cut short, 360 was done by 2009, Xbone was done day 1, Xbonex was hyped and PRO outsells it like no tomorrow and ended up having the better framerates..... MS has already forgotten about the 2017 XBONEX fearless XBONES, whilst Sony still caters to the vanilla PS4... You know LOU 2, Tsushima and FF7 will look great on OG PS4.
That is how you build faith and trust. Sony fans are so relaxed, they know PS5 will be a juggernaut, more importantly, they know Sony will support their PS5 with Goty chest beating first party software from day 1 till the PS6 is ready to be revealed...... MS simply has no clue in this console race. If you have nothing you hype. If you are sitting on quality software+ hardware, you just wait for the right time to reveal, when it will completely incapacitate the competition. Sadly, since MS is the competition, Sony does not even have to do much, but we know that has never stopped them from giving their best software and hardware regardless.

It has done nothing clearly, that's why you are here trying your darn darndest to get a load of the market leader's goods, because deep down you know its what most people really want to know, will buy and are looking forward too..... MS had a reveal and what has come from it than MS's own fans asking about PS even more......
MS is building no momentum, the only momentum MS is building is within individual posts on Neogaf.... All the hype is contained within single posts... When Sony fully reveals PS5, you will witness real momentum worldwide, hard-core or casual. Just you wait..... And please come back and say I told you so.....
Sony struggling and the race has not started? Sony is not in a hurry to get to the track meet, the race is 10 months away. Has MS nothing to do in the meantime? Sony racers are busy and will be busy playing LOU and TSUSHIMA, when they get to the track, they will Lap MS who was building fake hype to the two people in the stands 10 months ahead of race schedule. what did yesterdays reveal do for me? well it got me excited for a powerful console later this year, it revealed enough for me to get excited about, I have seen what the console looks like I know it is 12tf it is RDNA 2.0 and it will play games I buy on my Xbox X and upgrade the to the XSX version when I get that console.

Many tech sawwy people thought it is possible.
I would say that uppest limit (from technical standpoint) would be 18-24 Tflops IF they would have budget for 999e launch price and could do any crazy dual GPU setups and other stuff.
with higher launch price or budget 12 Tflops doesnt sound crazy at all, I didnt expect less than 11 and I am hoping for 13-14 tflops PS5 beast

Realistically speaking I think Xbox needs 2 conclusive generation where they are stable or toe to toe with their competition to entice 2nd/3rd party.
Even if 1st isn't putting out game after game there are so many titles out there that don't make it to the platform due to the perceived risk.
The consumer itself isn't good enough, they need to embrace different genre's from different continents, if the platform can achieve that it would be beneficial to all.

It did help, alot. Ps3's launch was god awful and so was the Xbox one's. Install base allowed ps3 to overcome a year headstart with no games and good 360 launch. It shouldn't have been close and it was. Sony, MS, and Nintendo all changed their formulas, that was their problem. Wii U wasn't a Wii at all, Xbox One had a stupid TV/kinect message at $500(and underpowered), while ps3 was late to the party, too expensive, too difficult to develop for which muddied their power advantage to consumers.
Sony won't stray from what made ps4 a success, and even if they did Microsoft will never win a console war without true exclusives. They have zero. $399, more power, gamepass is their only hope to stay within 20 million sales. Not only that, this is the first time that a previous install base can transition to a new generation with BC, without needing an upgraded model. Combined with actual exclusives, that's huge.

only if the machine is powerfull enough and they have some megaton for day one line up, just an event to present a 9tf machine and zero interesting games at launch is not gonna do any favor to them between hardcore gamers (casual don't even need an event or knowing the specs most probably because of loyalty to the brand)

And you are trying to make him seem legitimate by saying he predicted the 12 TF for XseX when that simply isn't true. He wrote that in the thread where everyone was discussing the MS XSeX reveal, the one where they announced it was 12 TF lol.

After I got caught up in the misterx insider fiasco years ago, I learned that almost all insiders are full of shit, "verified" or not. All it takes is an honest look at what tech is available and will be available around the year of release. Then it's a matter of throwing as much at the dart board as possible to claim you was correct when there were 1000 other predictions made and goal posts moved with outlandish excuses. Dont believe any of them. As much as I like blue on twitter as a person, that is the best example of someone that knows modern tech and tries to piece it together, but its gambling because none of it is confirmed to have anything to do with consoles. There are many here that do this.

There is no 9TFs machine... even the Github “leak” is an impossible configuration.
Said that if it is $100 cheaper it will make Xbox One Series X talk until now into nothing even if it is a 9TFs machine.
If it is a 11-12TFs the MS will again be nothing.
Whatever Sony does will just play for their side no matter what MS does.
MS is trying but there is nothing actually can break the buzz and hype with PS5 reveal.
Sony is definitely in a win-win position in the gamers mind because they solid delivery every gen.

...and I don't believe for a sec that PS5 is less than 10TF. IMO, it is an attempt to recreate "bombs" of 2013 by letting people believe it'll be 9tf and then come out and announce 12tf and look the hero role that they did it for their players. Only reason ps5 wouldn't be equal or greater than 12tf will be due to a pricing concern. Cerny already said "premium". That spells $499 ~ 12tf. I hope it turns out this way so the spec wars can fizzle. Would be great to see 2 beasts at their best in hardware.
