What's massive about it? It's just big enough to fit a 140mm fan horizontally. Nothing screams "excessive cooling solution" like a single, slow spinning, near silent 140mm fan.
You might be overthinking what is probably a smart, and more economical design vs stuffing and jigsawing pieces together into a console form factor.
But even that is better than making your console look like a toilet.

There is no reveal event in February... forget about that... Corona virus already made it sure it won't exists.
It is more probably actual scheduled events like PAX being canceled or being attended only by US companies.

Even the Olympic games have chance to be delayed.

Now you need to wait the situation stabilize for good to have a console reveal event.

Or.. they release a direct streaming video or tweet everything.

I'm right here?

I was just clarifying for him what the files are or are not. I'm not sure what is incorrect about what I said? The GH tests were not exclusively Ariel/Oberon BC tests. Those were cases in the units.

From the beginning, I've held that I believe PS5 will be 40CU at 2GHZ (10.2) with the below PowerVR RT built in. This would let the APU punch above its TF weight as unlike XSX you aren't relying on the full 12TF to do the RT.

https://www.imgtec.com/news/press-r...nounces-ray-tracing-technology-for-licensing/

Right or wrong its what i'm expecting. If the two sides have different RT implementation (which I believe has been stated before) than I can't imagine they are both just using AMD's RDNA2 implementation. It would also tie into that Sony engineers comments on the RDNA 2's RT abilities.

In this setup, you maintain the hardware backcompat that you are comfortable with to ensure full BC (disable full WGPs and downclock) while you also get to have you custom RT solution that you have been working on because you weren't sure if AMD would ever get there. IMO Sony wanted to lean on RT and likely started down their own path to get there. There is also no need to add an extra WGP on chip if you have your own RT solution. That seems to be a big waste.

Also, focusing on hardware backcompat on a new architecture would require quite a bit of testing which makes sense as to why you would lock in the chip early and step often.

I just can't reconcile how both sides would have different RT results if they are effectively using the exact same chip and architecture. MS will be leaning on DirectX RT and I don't see why Sony would go that way. Also, if you aren't relying on AMD's RT you don't need the extra TF in the APU and you wouldn't see any AMD RT testing on the chips.
Interesting information. Thank you.

So just to confirm, what you're saying is, PS5 around 10tf for games + separate chip for handling RT. XSX 12tf for everything games and RT. Correct?

If I may ask, as I was always wondering this since I know from reading comments and watching videos that RT has its toll on gfx cards, how many TFs would RT take up on average? I've seen high end cards playing games on ultra 4k60 for example, and when RT is turned on, res and fps take a big hit dwindling down to like 1080p60 or less I think?

So to keep that ultra 4k60 with RT on, would a card need an extra 2-4 TFs for example?

It is a possibility maybe in that situation they really go with streaming events.

But I believe the plan was a big physical attendee reveal event.
Makes sense to stay quiet for a big reveal event.

Makes sense.

I prefer to think that was the plan too. There have been hints from someone, however, they didn’t want to do an event style reveal, but nothing directly stated.

I must admit I was unfairly critical of BC in the past.

Take the below image for example.

images

If they can clean the image, detect and replace textures such as grass or even the leaves/bark on the tree along with skyrocketing the framerate and resolution, maybe even throwing in some RT then that would truely be a game changer.

1080p, now imagine that in 4k.

Wow. Just amazing.

So not only did I preface what was told to me that "my text conversation was flaky" and "I'm a little confused about what was said but I'm not going to push for clarification", I still called a console-hater, crazy in the mind for even mentioning such ludicrous things and that I'm a PC master race who doesn't want to see Sony thrive and succeed. I'm getting ridiculed for being banned on ResetERA due to fighting fanboys and defending my stance on graphics development (putting ERA in a good light for banning me) and I'm being scrutinized here -- all for telling what someone legit from the industry has told me.

Am I making this stuff up to piss people off?
Right now people should give you a benefit of the doubt. You were the first one who talk about sony exclusives comming to PC and your verification status works also in your favor. However if your information will end up wrong people here will just eat you alive 😂, and I will be one of them 😃. But I like what you did, because right bow you will either win big, or lose big. If sony will indeed launch 2 SKUs people here will respect you.

The size is massive lol
If you compare it an Apple Tv, sure.

Yes it is.

By ATX (what you want to call full tower) specification measure at 12 by 9.6 inches... ~30cm by ~25cm.
Any company is of course free to make cases bigger or smaller.

Xbox Series X tower is similar to ATX size... not Mini-ATX or Micro-ATX.
Of course it is neither of them because they use a custom non-ATX (or ITX) layout.

But it is that big like a PC ATX tower.

I think I see the problem. You're using the size of a motherboard standard, ATX, and calling that ATX tower? You do know the motherboard goes inside the computer case meaning the case can't be as small as the motherboard, right?

xsx is ~ 300mm x 150mm x 150mm
To put it into context, my last full tower pc was 560mm x 546mm x 241mm

I like the XSX design. It's not huge, and it's very sleek and can easily be part of your living room without standing out. That's a good thing imo. I don't want a console to be the eye catcher of the room 😂

PS5 does audio ray tracing, of course Xbox Series X does it.

Ray tracing’s immediate benefits are largely visual. Because it mimics the way light bounces from object to object in a scene, reflective surfaces and refractions through glass or liquid can be rendered much more accurately, even in real time, leading to heightened realism. According to Cerny, the applications go beyond graphic implications. “If you wanted to run tests to see if the player can hear certain audio sources or if the enemies can hear the players’ footsteps, ray tracing is useful for that,” he says. “It's all the same thing as taking a ray through the environment.”

It’s Wednesday Feb 26.

Ok Feb reveal insiders, you got till Saturday to be true. As a lucky bonus, this year is even Leap Year so you got an extra day.

Still waiting for attendees to say “We got invites for Feb!”

Yeah They already booked the place and printed the invites for Feb but had to cancel last second. shame.

Everyone can predicate a PS5 Pro in a few years, since Sony themselves has said PS4 Pro was a success and they could repeat the same,so a PS5 Pro and another Xbox in 2,3 years is expected, and lol VFX said he will stop to provide information about new consoles, but what information from him has so far been right?

Guess how many times I’ve looked at the front of my console or controller while playing? I’ll give you a hint: it’s the PS5s tf count, minus nine.

I KNOW ITS NOT NINE CALM YOUR TITS PEOPLE.

I don't care about what People are saying about the TF. I'm waiting for Sony to officially reveal it themselves.

I find it hard to believe you have never looked at the front of your console or your controller when gaming.
