To me the fact that the poll has the 50% of women pretty much explain the super popularity of FFX, I think that is the fan favourite for that public in particular.
Not facts, but anecdotal, I always saw male FF fans more divisive about their favourite game of the franchise while female actually less. FFX is the most mainstream game for the fans of the franchise, with romance, some sport theme, first PS2 game and last old style FF.

I can understand why original trilogy isn't in top10, also FFXIII makes sense, but the absence of FFXII is surprising.

FFXII not being there isn’t surprising tbh. The game heavily caters to the western audience but to the Asian community, it’s incredibly forgettable and boring looking, heck even FFXIII was more memorable than XII despite the reception.

I’m surprised FF5 got ranked so low, impressive. Almost made top 5, not too shabby I must say.

The absence of FFXII and dominance of FFX is not at all surprising, but disappointing and distasteful to say the least.

Surprised that FFXII didn't make the list. I'm not a huge fan of FF, but picked it up a few weeks back from my local library as I had nothing else to play at the moment, and I liked it a lot more than FFXIII, which eventually bore me out and I've never felt like finishing it.

This has to be sarcasm. I was 5-10 hours into X recently and quit at blitzball to go play Doom (1993) because blitzball is a frustrating, shitty mess. I’ll go back to it eventually, but that game is very fucking weird so far and Tidus is the most unlikeable protagonist I’ve ever experienced. And you can’t skip the cutscenes, even in the remaster. Just annoying.

I loved the mini game on PS2 era... it was very very addictive.

I actually agree for the most part with this list even though I would put 9 quite a bit lower.

Those that think X is garbage is stupid as hell, I will be honest and not deserving to be called an FF fan IMO. I understand if you they think X-2 is not very good because it definitely was different but X has one of the best story's and still does to this date; simple, effective combat, great mini-game, and incredible music.

X-2 is really a bad FF but it is a spin off.

FFX is great thought... it have one of the best turn-based implementations in FF franchise too.

Final Fantasy has that one good thing about it that not a single game in the franchise is bad. I played about 10 games with Final Fantasy in their title and they were all excellent (I, IV complete, X, XIII series, XV, Type-0, Dissidia Duodecim, Tactics, Dirge of Cerberus, World...).

FFX gameplay was fine but the story was too linear and religious. Except the ending there was no surprise. Compared to FF7 multiples turn of events FFX was very bland.

I like Final Fantasy game with good and beautiful ending....

7....9......12......i love how the story ends

10....13....and 15...not so much.......especially 15....what a sad tale man.....

I hated what happens with my crew ( Gladiolus.....Ignis....Prompto..ive grown..quite attached to these guys)....all dead...even the Princess killed by her own summon.....

Even Noctis have to sacrifice himself at the end......end of the line for the throne....

What a shitty ending 15 is......its so grim man...

We had a beautiful journey riding cars....going places....cooking...drinking..playing chocobo racing.....enjoying sunset..having conversation to each party member......

How incredibily shitty it is for that game to end like that....first final fantasy game where all main characters died....

The people who hate FFX probably look up that crappy review by that one failure at life, from 2007 era review YouTubers who are in a rut in their life at the moment. for validation why they think a game sucks.

Everyone’s opinion on the best Final Fantasy varies wildly.

I love X and for once I agree in part with the list.

I also love FF8 probably the same as 7. The bottom ones on my list would be...

FF 12, Lighting Returns, Type 0 or whatever it’s called and probably 15 is pretty far down too and the rest are somewhere in the middle.

Have yet to play the retro ones so I cannot really comment on those.
