Because there are direct x drivers for some hardware feature doesn't mean it has no use for equivalent functions on other APIs. MS pulled the same disingenuous strategy when they alluded that only the xbox one could use mega textures because DX 12 + esram.

Companies market like this because people believe and evangelize it. Imagine if PS4 had DirectX 11.2/12 with their XB1/PC exclusive features like asynchronous computer and tiled resources.

Gotta love new console gens:

Still only implied RDNA 2.0 confirmation for PS5.

TRUTHFACT:
No one directly said that PS5 has RDNA 2.0.

Wonder why? Is it so hard?

facts

that the ps5 and xsx has a CUSTOM APU.

We know that xsx is RDNA2 + MS RTX.
Sony? not one word
yup.

OF COURSE PS5 can have RDNA 2.0, but still, we DID NOT get a direct confirmation.
Otherwise tell me where they directly say: „PS5 is based on RDNA 2.0“. directly, like for Xbox.

I think the biggest issue aside from nobody ever stating directly that Xbox and PS5 use RDNA2 is the devkit design and confirmed reports from 12 TF insiders that it runs very hot. RDNA2 at 12 TF looks to be less than 97 Watt. Don't need expensive cooling, which NexusGamer confirmed.

huh? Microsoft themselves stated and confirmed that Xbox series X is based on RDNA 2.0.

For PS5 no one directly confirmed that it’s based on RDNA 2.0.

Designing a huge tall tower means it still runs pretty hot overall ;).

I meant that as in "both of them". We still only have confirmation that:

Xbox Series X has RDNA2 (this one is clear)
Consoles with RDNA2 launch holiday 2020 (Xbox Series X & PS5? XSX & XSS?)
Xbox and Playstation use latest RDNA technology (latest today? RDNA1)

Even after AMD confirmation you are in denial :D

I think you are in denial that there was NEVER a DIRECT confirmation for RDNA 2.0 On PS5. Never.
Not implied. No implication. There was no DIRECT confirmation

like Microsoft fucking did:

Xbox Series X is our most powerful console ever powered by our custom designed processor leveraging AMD’s latest Zen 2 and RDNA 2 architectures.

There is nothing equivalent for PS5. Only „implied“ confirmation.
I‘m not saying that PS5 won’t be based on RDNA 2.0.
what I‘m saying is that there was no direct confirmation like we had for XBOX SERIES X (See above) for PS5.
If we had, please show me where it DIRECTLY says, like above for Xbox, but for PS5:
PS5 is based on RDNA 2.0

They did not only once.

nah. They didn’t. Otherwise, show me, where they directly say it:

„PS5 is based on RDNA 2.0“ - just like Microsoft did for Xbox two weeks ago. Lol
They said and confirmed both next-gen consoles being RDNA 2 yesterday.
It seems you like playing semantics and spin things.

I even do a transcript of one of the times they told you that (it was said way more than one time):

We have developed an all-new hardware-accelerated ray tracing architecture as part of RDNA 2. It is a common architecture used in the next-generation game consoles.”

I am going by proof. As long as either AMD or Sony say PS5 is using RDNA2 - they are not. Going by what was said at the event is just as stupid as to assume no changes could have happened since the June test data from Github. We don’t know. It's embarrassing to claim knowledge that is only your interpretation of what was said.

Turn it around. Assume AMD announced RDNA2 for PS5. Then they are obviously free to talk about it, right? Then why not say both Microsoft and Sony use RDNA2? Instead, they make it interpretable. Even Sony using RDNA2 technology could still mean RDNA 1.9 with VRS from AMD and hardware raytracing from somebody else. As opposed to Microsoft saying they use RDNA2.

Pathetic.

Directly from AMD.

There more quotes saying the same thing with different words yesterday.

Denial.

Mod of War Mod of War just a question . When a rumor is proved completely fake , is the thread kept open ?
You're one of those backseat moderators, are you? Which is funny coming from someone that had a quote that you made a fuzz about proven wrong and didn't insist on closing that thread down. And what's worse, this thread is tagged as rumor. Yours is not, yet it should be.

I'll take it as "I was wrong, thanks for pointing it out".
Wtf are you talking about? Vulkan has RT support added by IMG Tech, Nvidia, AMD and Intel. I showed you proof straight from Nvidia that VK_NV is functionally the same and a subset of KHR, Showed you proof that Nvidias extension is not as proprietary as you think it is. It is literally the foundation upon which AMD and Intel are adding to the Vulkan RT standard but I'm wrong? How?

You have no idea what you are talking about. Lol

Oh dear.
I was the first poster in this thread to even mention VK_NV,
Not having an officially released standard yet is not the same as not having support. VK_NV is the bases upon which KHR as a standard is being created.
There is no Vulkan RT, there is NVs proprietary extension on Vulkan. (VK_NV_)
VK_NV is a subset of Vulkan RT as stated by Nvidia themselves.
JUJ268S.jpg

Its really simple, does Vulkan have raytracing support? The answer is Yes via an extension released by Nvidia that was worked on by both AMD and Intel as a subset of KHR standard. So i ask you again, how am i wrong?

His thread is a confirmed fact.
Your thread is a fake rumor.

It is obvious your needs to be tagged Rumor/Fake not his thread.

AMD never said XSX was using RDNA 2.0 until MS announced it officially, hence they wait by saying it directly until Sony announces it officially in the specifications reveal.
