And when Microsoft revealed revealed the Project Scarlett, they were saying "leveraging the latest Zen 2 and Navi technology from our partners at AMD" as you can listen to it here.

O'dium's description earlier is interesting. I was always under the impression that devs still have to make design decisions with hardware based on lowest common denominator. A dev decides he wants to push out full environmental destruction unlike anything seen before in a game but can't do it on a console that's much weaker. They scrap the design decision and go with more middle ground to accommodate the lower console since it's only way it can exist there and the higher console does not get their full power potential unlocked.
What happens if Microsoft also puts very strict stipulations in for their certifications to keep games in line? In the past didn't both consoles have requirements where they couldn't use certain features to give the other console a big advantage hardware wise on a multiplatform title? It's not realistic to think Microsoft would throw strict certification around to prevent messes on Lockhart? Maybe I'm not fully understanding what O'dium is saying but it seems hard to believe a console that is speculatively nearly 3x more powerful is not held back by the lowest common denominator console. I guess it depends if it's on the same architecture as we think then it would just downclocked in power.
Not saying you're lying or wrong but I guess I just don't understand how on a technical level. Yeah, I get that you can always lower resolution, use dynamic resolutions, lower the graphics effects but do devs do that now? It sure as hell seems like they'd rather give you a 20fps game that's gorgeous to look at than make it look like Nioh and run at a consistent 60fps. Maybe that's a philosophy difference between Western and Japanese devs because Western devs love giving you shitty performance for eyegasms rather than toning a game down graphically for better performance.

Look, you don't have to like their technical analysis or what-not, you don't have to agree with them. When it comes to next-gen speculation I definitely don't agree with them on everything including the idea PS5 is legit 9.2TF. But to go as far as to insinuate they have an active agenda against Sony and PlayStation is absolutely ridiculous. Unless you have actual proof that's what they're doing, you are acting no better than #CancelCulture people on Twitter.
Why does it matter if MS did a reveal video with DF for the X? Sony went to Wired to reveal first details on PS5, where are the accusations of Wired being in Sony's back pockets at? Yes it's evident Richard has a preference but I would strongly doubt they let that preference get to the point of outright making up lies about Sony and PlayStation. Him, John and the rest of DF are very good at what they do, they don't need to be mocked just because they have a different idea on what entails for a next-gen system than you do.
We can do better than that. It's okay to disagree but don't go as far as insisting they're access media or whatever for MS. Just like how we aren't implying Wired or whatever other media outlets have a very strong tie to Sony aren't access media for them to the detriment of Microsoft. If you don't have PROOF, honestly I don't want to hear any of that type of garbage because it comes off like a whiny teenage girl arguing in a rumor circle at the lunch table, and I was personally tired of that crap in high school.
The idea of MS trying to lowball or FUD the PS5 through DF, Github or by any other means is real tin foil hat stuff.

For example, a 4tf Series S at 1080p can produce better visuals than a 9.2tf PS5 at 4k (minus of course the resolution deficit) This is just fact, hard numbers, based purely on the rendering overhead of enhanced resolution. A 9.2tf PS5 at 1080p would quite easily demolish a 4tf series S, however.
No downgrades are essentially required, here, it’s just possibilities.

I've come to the opinion that it's impossible to avoid it. I've worked super hard to NOT make console war style videos over the past couple years. That has been my main objective. Even then, they were used in that way. That's why I'm mostly split between Retro (my preferred content) and stuff like those feature videos (ie - Death Stranding, Gears 5, Days Gone etc). I just like to showcase what makes games beautiful while helping people learn. Comparisons can be interesting when the differences are massive, though, but they rarely are these days. That's why I still enjoy doing Switch videos as the sacrifices tend to be huge.
Now that we have a new gen? This is going to suck so much. It's really not much fun anymore. I used to love these hype cycles but things have become too personal and nasty as of late. It's never enough to disagree - they have to tear others down.
Oh how I wish I could just cover retro stuff full-time - that's where my actual interests are these days. I'm fairly positive, at least, that I own more games on various PlayStation platforms than like 95% of the folks in this thread anyways (~1027 physical games + 315 digital for PS platforms).
Either way, with things escalating, I'll probably have to take a long hiatus from the various forums as it really gets to me even when it shouldn't. It's not healthy.
Also - just in case people missed this I *DO NOT* make videos based on rumors and the like. That's not what I do personally. So if you dislike that type of content, that's fine, but leave me out of it. A lot of people DO enjoy it, though.

Honestly i am hoping devs don't go native 4k next gen and just use checkerboard rendering and other tech like that .
So we can get more 60fps games or used that power for other stuff .
If done good people can hardly tell the difference since it look so good.

That’s a pretty shitty thing to say but you’re probably right. This feels like such a tiny thing compared to everything else going on, though, so fuck it. I will do as you say and leave.
Oh, and not that it matters, but of course PS5 is RDNA2. I never said otherwise. I just hadn’t seen that presentation until today because I was not in town. I expect amazing things from PS5.
